UPDATE 8/13/07 -   Mimi is very playful and likes water. We spent a week at the lake in Maine and
she learned to swim without puting her head under water.
She still takes a medication for mange and her coat is looking much better. We are working on her
barking.

UPDATE 7/5/07 -   Mimi is adjusting well to our family. She chases the cat whenever she can. She has
learned and is doing great with the invisible fence. According to my vet she came with demodedic
mange and she is in treatment for the second month. Her hair has started to grow back.
Mimi is full of energy and knows basic commands. She loves to run in the yard and play with a ball.

UPDATE 6/1/07 - Mimi is adjusting to our household. She is doing much better walking on the leash.
She has lots of energy and likes to jump. We are working on that. Her demodetic mange is back. I
took her to the vet and I use dips every week for her skin. She has lost some hair on her chest, neck,
head and legs. Mimi wants to play with our cat, and Oskar does not share same intentions. Mimi is very
playful and likes it when we throw her balls and she also enjoys hiking in the woods with us. She stays
close to us. Mimi barks and growls when we see other people and dogs during our walks.

5/4/07 - Mimi has been adopted!

4/23/07 - It's Mimi again, it's been a few weeks since  my last update and still no phone calls. Boy, am I
confused how can anyone  resist me? Things are going well at my foster home. Easter was great, we
got  special treats, new toys and fresh marrow bones..... what more could a girl ask  for? Of course,
Dominic and I instantly went on a search and destroy mission with the stuffy toys. We both subscribe to
the theory that squeakers are evil  and we must protect the family from them. Once the squeakers are
removed and the  stuffing is strewn around the floor we play tug of war with the fabric. It is so  much
fun!

The weather is getting warmer now so my foster brothers (they are real wimpy in the cold weather) are
wanting to play  outside more. After we play for awhile we sunbathe on the deck. My foster mom
promises now that the weather is warmer she will take me to meet Les, he owns a  pizzeria/ice cream
shop and all doggies get a free dish of ice cream. He also  takes a picture of all the dogs who visit ,
writes their name on it and hangs it  on the wall for all to see. I'm going to ask Les if he can add the
words ADOPT  ME!!! That was Antonio's idea he's the **thinker** of the group, he calls it
networking (either that or the old boy is sick of my puppy antics).

Well, I just don't know what everyone is  waiting for I've been here since October and really, really
want to settle in  with my own special family as soon as possible. Call my foster mom she will tell  you
all about me!

4/5/07 - Hi Everyone it's me Mimi. I've decided to take  matters into my own paws and tell you a bit
about myself. Apparently my foster  mom isn't doing a very good job because I am still
here......waiting.... for my  own family. I'm about 8 months old, I've been here since I was just a little
baby. I had some puppy mange when I first got here then developed a yeast/staph  infection it took
awhile to get my skin/coat looking good but now I am 100%  healthy.

Since I've been at my foster home I have lived many  other dogs, the 4 resident dogs and several rescue
dogs that have all been  adopted. My mom Spirit, a litter of Boxer/Mastiff mix pups, a great Boxer  girl
named Cleo and a Puggle named Daisy. If I can handle this busy house I can  handle anything!

Last weekend I got to have a sleep over, my foster  mom got home kinda late with Bubba and Chance
SCBR's newest foster kids so they  stayed over until they could go to their foster homes. I liked Bubba
and Chance but they were awful good looking boxer boys, I was worried that they meant more
competition for sweet little me. I'm having a hard enough time finding a family then these stud muffins
come along!

I love, love love kids. I like them as much as I  like eating which is a lot! I know sit, down and come
when I am called. I have  mastered Drop It and am pretty good at Leave It. Last night one of the kids
dropped a piece of chocolate I was close enough to grab it but knew better when  my foster mom told
me to leave it. My foster mom says I get to celebrate another holiday here, something called Easter. My
foster brothers promise me that Easter means chasing bunnies, stealing jelly beans and getting a few
new toys/marrow bones. Sounds great to me, marrow bones are my favorite and they  keep my teeth
pearly white.

Well, Dominic my best doggie friend is hounding me  to play. I might as well go play with him because
it's early and my "kids"  are still sleeping. Once Alexandra and Nathan wake up he's history  until they
give me my morning lovin'. I promise to send another update soon  and I'll let you know how I made
out with the Easter Bunny. Love and Biscuits to  all, Mimi

3/23/07 - I can't believe Mimi is still here, she is the sweetest puppy and continues  to patiently wait for
a home to call her own. There's not much new to report Mimi is doing well and gets along with
everyone she meets (human and canine). Mimi's tail is always wagging and she never has a bad day.
She is happy  to be doing whatever is on the days schedule and just takes things as they come.  She
loves feeding time more than any other time of the day. Mimi gets so excited  and hops around the
kitchen then goes running into her crate and waits patiently  for her bowl to be put down. She dives in
and devours her meal then scours the  bottom of the crate incase she missed a piece of kibble. She's so
silly, she  acts like she has never eaten. Anyone who is not considering Mimi because she is a mix is
missing out on a great dog. Her bad habit is jumping on visitors, she's just SO HAPPY to see
everyone!  Her coat looks beautiful and she's made a full recovery from the Demodectic Mange, we
are just finishing up the rest of her meds as a precaution. She is SO good in the crate it is unbelievable,
her new trick is putting herself in the crate when she knows we are leaving. The other day I was getting
ready to leave and couldn't find Mimi, I thought maybe she didn't come in from the yard.
I called her and she stuck her head out of the crate and looked at me as if to say "What's your problem
lady, I'm in my crate where I belong!".  Needless to say she got a biscuit for being such a good girl.

2/21/07 - Mimi is doing well. She was spay last week and seems to have totally missed the fact that she
had surgery. She was spay on Thursday and Friday she was back to her normal self which meant we
had to crate her a bit when she was trying to jump around and play. Luckily she's a great girl in the
crate. Mimi also loves car rides, though the vet is not her favorite destination. She puts on the "brakes"
at the door and has to be coaxed in. Once inside she does well and is nicely behaved. Mimi does have
some demodex so she is being treated for another 40 days her medication will go with her if she is
adopted. It's just a liquid she gets once a day.

Mimi had a little housebreaking set back after her spay. I think the anesthesia gave her a bit of an upset
belly. She getting back into the swing of things now. She loves everyone that comes over and likes to
gallop through the snow to play with the other dogs. She is really easy going and has the sweet Boxer
lap dog temperament. She still does some excited jumping when people come over but I think that's
because she feels she is competing with all the other dogs. She is trying to mind her manners but being a
pup she sometimes gets carried away. Mimi really needs a family of her own, she is a sweet girl and you
won't be disappointed.

2/12/07 -  Well, I suppose it is time to update Mimi since her adoption fell through. It's no fault of her
own she is the sweetest girl ever. Mimi is about 6 months old now and weighs almost 40 pounds. She is
a happy well adjusted pup that loves kids and other dogs. She is 100% crate trained and has no
problems sleeping in her crate through the night or while we are away. She's learned what is acceptable
to chew and what is not. She will occasionally pick up something she shouldn't but when given the
command "Drop It" she immediately does. It's nice to have a puppy that doesn't make you chase them
and pry the object out of her mouth.

Mimi plays hard then naps either on our laps or in front of the heat vent. She loves car rides and
behaves very nicely when she gets to go for a ride. Mimi is perfectly healthy now and is going to be
spay this Thursday (2/15) she will be ready for adoption after that. Mimi is going to be a great addition
to her new family. Everyone she meets absolutely falls in love with her and comments on how cute she
is. I've updated her pictures so everyone can see what a pretty little pup she is
.

11/22/06 -
Mimi continues to do well in her foster home. She  is just the sweetest little thing. She finally
seems to "get" housebreaking and  we only have an occasional accident. I must admit accidents  are
usually my fault with the 6 dogs and 2 kids I easily loose track of  time. Mimi is still pretty good about
not getting into  trouble around the house. She does seem to have a fixation with toilet paper She
doesn't try to unroll it, she chews around the edge. She also loves Q-tips  so needless to say the
bathroom door now stays closed. That's the worst of her  puppy chewing.... I'm pretty impressed!

She loves to play with all of the  dogs here. She seems a bit miffed that our senior Bulldog doesn't give
in  and play with her. It doesn't stop Mimi from trying but she is good about  moving on to something
else after a couple play attempts are made. Mimi really keeps us laughing with her puppy  antics. She is
so happy and is always running around with a puppy toy of some sort in her mouth. She
has learned the "Drop It" command and if she does get something she not supposed to she will
immediately drop the object when she  is told. Of course this makes me very happy as most puppies try
to make you  chase them to get the object.

I'm hoping her demodectic mange will be cleared up in a few weeks. Treatment for this type of mange
can sometimes be  slow. Once she has a negative skin scrape I will schedule her for a spay, she will
certainly be old enough at that point. Mimi should be ready to spend  Christmas with her new family.

11/2/06 - Mimi weighed in at 16 pounds when she went to the vet Monday. Mimi is now fully
vaccinated. She still has a few active Demodectic mange lesions on her forehead and around her eyes.
This is to be expected and this type of mange is not contagious. Other than that she got a clean bill of
health and is now able to join my dogs and have free run of the house. She is very happy playing with
the others and taking naps on our laps. She is a nice little puppy. She hasn't gotten into any trouble
which is amazing considering her age. I've been watching her like a hawk since most puppies chew on
things they aren't supposed to and get into  mischief so far so good with Mimi! Mimi has a typical boxer
temperament happy, playful and loves to be with people but because she is a mix she's not as energetic
as most purebred boxer pups. Trust me when I tell you this is a good thing! She play hard then naps for
awhile sometimes she will just follow me around the house and watch what I am doing. She's an
awesome pup and very smart too. My husband thinks she is the cutest puppy he has ever seen. Mimi
must know this as she follows him everywhere and jumps at the back of his legs. She is just too cute.
Better get those applications in -Mimi will be ready to be adopted soon!

10/19/06 - Mimi went to the vet yesterday and had her second mange treatment. She was a very good
girl, everyone seems to love her instantly. Mimi weighed in at 13 pounds 2 ounces. She's gained about
4 pounds and looks great. She's also starting to loose her puppy teeth. Her fur is growing back already
so hopefully
in 2-3 weeks or so she will cleared for adoption. She is a smart, happy little puppy. Her pictures do her
no justice. Her tail is always wagging and I love the white tip at the end of her tail. She's pretty quiet and
really only barks when playing or separated from Spirit. I could go on and on about what a great girl
she is. She is an absolute pleasure to foster!

10/3/06 -  Mimi went to the vet yesterday, her  age is estimated at about 10 weeks. She is such a little
peanut. She had her  first puppy vaccine, began treatment for parasites and her skin scrape was
positive for demodectic mange. She began treatment and will hopefully grow some  nice new fur in the
next few weeks. Mimi is a great little pup, very friendly  and fearless. She wandered around the exam
room like she owned the  place. We are not quite sure what she is mixed with and she doesn't  answer
me when I ask "Who's your daddy?" so I guess it will always be a  mystery. It doesn't matter anyway
because I can guarantee she is 100%  adorable!  I'll send some more pictures in the next few days, stay
tuned for more updates.

10/01/06 - Spirit's little puppy arrived last night thanks to Linda her very special transporter. When
Linda called me from the road I asked if she had any name ideas and she said "I was thinking Mimi for
the little one". I thought that was kind of silly (especially since my mother is called Mimi by all her
grandkids) but after seeing this little pup the name just fits. She prances around as if to say me,me,me
don't forget about ME! So Mimi it is, I must say I couldn't have thought of a more fitting name.
Little Mimi is a doll. You would never know that she spent the last month or so of her short little life in a
shelter. She is friendly, happy and loves attention. In typical puppy fashion she preferred my toes to the
toys last night when I was playing with her. Mimi is in pretty good condition but does have some hair
loss. We suspect she has mange and she will be going to the vet tomorrow to get checked out. More
updates coming soon!

10/5/06 - I would like to explain how Spirit and MiMi came to SCBR and where they come from. I
receive about 75 emails a day asking for help with all kinds of animals. I read one for Spirit and her
pup, their pictures made me want to do something. They were so pitiful, I just couldn't delete this one,
even if they were in KY, I knew we had to do something as a group. I immediately emailed Julie T and
Jill P, Julie to see if they could come in and Jill to see if she would foster. Without hesitation, Julie said if
you can get them here and Jill will take them, let's save them. Jill set up contact with the pound. This is
very rural KY, a pound run by the county. they have no paid employees, only two volunteers that help
with the animals. She said that these two had been there for awhile and really needed out. I found
another kind heart that offered to help us. this past Saturday, she drove 2hrs through thick fog, pulled
them and drove to meet me in Charleston, WV. She told me the pound feeds when they have food,
they have no heat in the winter, all animals lay on the cement floor and the county won't let the
volunteers in on the weekends to feed and water. they currently have 200 dogs alone there. No one
even works there to euthenize, I guess they just let them die. Adoptions are almost nill, remember, this
is a pound, not even a shelter. Somehow the volunteer was able to get someone to let her in last
Saturday to spring the dogs. To say I was shocked when I seen Spirit is an understatement. She is in
the worst shape I have ever seen a dog in. Bless her heart, she is a true Boxer, she had nothing but
kisses for me. there was no information available for these two, the volunteer doesn't even know how
they ended up there. They also received no vaccinations and no medical care. I can't thank Jill and her
family enough for opening their heart and home to these two. They have a long road to recovery but
couldn't be in a better place than Jill's house and SCBR. When all is said and done, medical care for
these two will probably come close to $1,500 and some people say that rescues make money! If you
can help with any of their medical bills, please do, even $5 goes towards helping.
