MIA
UPDATE 11/21/07 - Miss Mia is doing GREAT.  We have pretty much done away with all of her
seperation anxiety issues, and we're all so much happier now!  We discovered that Mia likes to be
confined during the day, it keeps her calm and out of trouble.  We didn't want to crate her, so we found
a nice alternative: we shut her in our bedroom during the day.  It's like a big, cushy crate where she can
move around and sleep on her dogger bed (or our bed!), look out the window, or play with her
rope-toy, but can't get into the garbage!  We also discovered last week that Mia likes the
snow....surprising considering how much she hates the rain!  She tears around the backyard in the
snow, and if you throw snowballs up in the air for her she will jump and practically do backflips to catch
them!  She acts like eating snow is some sort of a treat, she doesn't seem to realize it's just frozen
water!  Mia Bia and  the cats have adjusted nicely, and our alpha-male cat has even stopped hissing at
her.  We're a little anxious because we will (finally!) be taking our honeymoon at the end of December
when my law school semester is over, so we'll be without our Bia for 9 days....we're going to have a
friend come and stay here with her so she can stay in her own house where she is comfortable.  Not
sure what we can do to make her time apart from us more pleasant and less stressful....we wish we
could bring her with us but the resort simply doesn't allow it.  Plus I don't know what they would do
with an 80-pound boxer on a plane to Punta Cana!  (Yes, she's about 80-pounds, no she's not fat,
someone just forgot to tell her that female boxers--and male boxers, for that matter--aren't supposed to
get that big!)  Anyways, Mia Bia is amazing and we adore her.  We couldn't be happier to have her in
our lives, and we've got a sneaking suspicion that she feels the same!

UPDATE 9/12/07 - Mia is doing great.  She is happy and active and I think she knows that she has
finally found her forever home.  Her incision healed up great from her spay, and she went to the vet to
get checked out a few times while she was healing...he couldn't believe that he could get right up next to
Mia's face and Mia was just as sweet as could be!  She also gets along great with our 5-year old
neighbor, who adores her and says he wants a dog that looks exactly like her and is named Mia. He
didn't seem to care when I pointed out that we'd get them mixed up!  She is a little timid around the
cats-- they showed her who was boss with a few strategic hisses right off the bat-- but they just stay
away from each other and everyone is happy.  We have also had some issues with separation anxiety,
Mia hates being left alone, but luckily she's never alone for too long!  We've been working with her on
this, and just enrolled her for private obedience classes.  The trainer seemed confident that she could
help us to help Miss Mia.  Mia gives great boxer kisses, loves going for walks/runs and rides in the car,
and jumps in bed to snuggle with us when she gets antsy in the morning if we try to sleep in!  She has no
idea how big she is, and when she gets playing she can get pretty rough, but we both wanted a big dog
and like to play hard too, so it's perfect!  We love having Mia and feel that our family is finally
complete!!

8/12/07 - Mia has been adopted!

8/1/07 - I spoke to Mia's foster mom, since she's just getting back online I figured I would send an
update for her. Mia is doing extremely well in her foster home. Her foster Mom reports that she listens
very well and is pretty much housebroke (just 2 accidents during the settling in phase). Mia is getting
along very well with the resident Boston Terrier and while curious of the cats doesn't cause any harm.
She will chase the kitties but when they stop she simply sniffs them. Mia is happy to meet new people
and does the notorious "Boxer Wiggle". Mia has also been left in the house for a few hours while her
foster mom runs errands, there have been no problems or destruction. Mia will be spay soon and ready
for adoption. Better hurry up and call us, this little sweetie shouldn't be in rescue for very long!

7/24/07 - Mia went to the Vet today. She got a clean bill of health. In fact the Vet pronounced her
"beautiful", but we already knew that! She will be spayed soon and then will be ready to go to your
home...if you are the lucky family she picks! Everyone at the vet commented on how well behaved and
sweet she is. She was the star of the waiting room. I think the other dogs were jealous. She did great
out of the crate last night. She tried to get into bed with my son, now picture this she is 72 pounds, my
son is almost 6 feet tall and they were in a twin bed. Needless to say she ended up on the blanket on
the floor! But wouldn't that have made a great picture? This little dolly is a real cutie. Do yourself a
favor and put your  application in to adopt her, you will be so happy you did.

7/23/07 - Here are some pictures of little Miss Mia. She is such a delight! You won't find a nicer,
sweeter dog anywhere! She is very affectionate. She has definately had some recent obedience training
because she sits and goes to down stay without even using the words. She is really going to make a
wonderful pet for an active family. She does like to have someone around and cries a little when we
leave the room, in fact because she is so well behaved she will be sleeping in my son's room tonight
instead of in the crate. She really didn;'t like being all alone last night. This little one is going to the Vet
tomorrow, and will be gettting spayed soon, then will be off to a loving forever home. Hurry and get
your applications in....you can be the lucky family that gets Mia kisses.

7/21/07 - What a sweetheart this little girl is. She traveled for almost 11 hours today to get to her foster
home. She was wonderful in the car, she looked out the window, let the wind blow her ears around,
smiled at all the other cars. She checked out the yard and house, then settled nicely into her crate. She
gives great kisses! Because she was a stray we don't know her name, so my son has named her Mia.
She is an affectionate gentle soul. She is going to be a wonderful companion for someone thats for sure!
We'll have a photoshoot tomorrow so you will be able to see her great  smile. Right now it's bed time
for all the dogs.
