6/29/07 - Major was sent to the bridge today and he was very hard for me to let go. He was unpredictablwe with men and we all know that we can't always protect them no matter how hard we try. I wasn't his fault due to his improper socialization at the puppy mill. We loved this guy and his foster dad called him a goofus. He enjoyed life here and experienced so many "new things". He loved ice cream, soft things, dog beds, the couch, always came in the bathroom when I would dry my hair to mess with the shower curtain, sleeping
in his foster parents bedroom. One night I was waiting for him to come to bed, all the lights were off and I heard all this racket from the living room. He had decided to play with a plastic pop bottle. When I turned the
light on, I couldn't help but just laugh at him. He only did this once but it is something I will always have. Rest in peace Major. We miss you.

Major continue to be a perfect house guest at his foster home. He has settled back in to our routine and will usually just go with the flow of things. There are times when he just steals your heart. He loves to eat
and when it is breakfast or dinner time, he goes into a happy litle frenzy routine. Once you have his bowl in your hands going to his feeder, he gallops all the way there. Another happy time for him is when we are
passing out peanut butter filled marrow bones before work. There is no way that you could ever forget him because of his actions. We don't crate him any longer and he has been perfect. Other than that, he could be considered a couch potato. He worries when soneone leaves the house and gets a look on his face like I hope they come back as he watches them pull away. Major sleeps on a dog bed in our bedroom and is very good. He is housebroken for the most part but if he can't get out or you don't recognize his nervousness, he will give you a little surprise. So, you have to train yourself to be aware. He plays a little game with me and he never messes up. If I hang a kitchen towel on my stove handle, he will always take it off of there. Doesn't do anything with it but just likes soft things. He is such a character. Sometimes just out of the blue, he will get up and come over to you to just give you a quick kiss or two. We make a big deal about it and then he is off to find a good spot for another nap. Major needs a home that can offer him lots of love, patience and a nice soft dog bed. Oh, and don't forget the food. He is not high maintenance at all. Just the basics for this great dog. If you have that space in your life, think about adopting him. He loves his new life and has left that puppy mill business behind. He really will warm your heart!

Major has returned to the Boxer'In on the lake. His family thought that he was becoming too protective of the children and their kitties and thought it might be best if he was returned to his original foster home. They took great care of Major helping him to continue to recover from his previous life at the puppy mill. We are glad to have him back and he came back in like he had never been gone. He was confused and sad at first and very very quiet, sleeping almost 24 hours straight. Each day now, he is getting a little more active which we are glad to see. Perhaps, he just needs a quieter household but we will continue to watch to see how he does here. He is eating very well as he always has. His coat is beautiful now that he has stopped shedding that winter coat that he had to keep him warm in the barn. He is back with all his foster brothers and sisters and seems to just go with the flow. He sleeps on his very own dog bed that his owners sent along that he loves in our bedroom. Major has just finished up some antibiotic for a urinary tract infection, medication for worming and is still being treated for ear mites. I will get some new pictures of him as he is looking really bright and sharp. Major doesn't really ask for too much. He needs a home that can offer him some love, good food and a place to lay his head. He has had only one accident in the house since being back so I do believe that I can say he is housebroken. Major is a good boy and will make a great addition to a home where he can continue to know what a "dogs life" is all about.

Major was adopted!

Major seems to have settled in at his foster home and is just enjoying life to the fullest. He gets along great with all his foster brothers and sisters and seems to just go with the flow. He is very food motivated and
loves anything that you offer him. Going in the crate with a filled peanut butter marrow bone is one of his most favorite times of the day. When you get home, you want to be ready for one happy guy to get out of his crate.
He can hardly stand it till it is his turn. He loves to find a spot of sunshine and just follows it as it moves around the house. He enjoys two meals a day at his foster consisting of kibbled food. He is housebroken for
the most part. You have to train yourself to get him out at certain times as he hasn't learned the art of asking to go out. He is more than happy to go but you need to remind him. I love to watch him in the snow as he gets
to running around the back yard just feeling good all over. He reminds me of a bulldozer as he just kind of barrels in from being outside no matter who is in his way. He has no idea how big he is. He is a sweetheart and
now will take a nap on the couch with the other dogs. He has learned so much and his life will continue to be a learning experience as he settles into his new life. He is a great dog and he can't imagine why someone hasn't scooped him up yet. He will warm your feet and your heart. Think about making him a part of your family, he won't disappoint you.

If you are looking for a dog that can liven up your house, then Major is the man for the job. He just continues to entertain us. This week, he found my apron hanging in the kitchen on a hook. Proceeded to pull on it like he again was playing tug of war. The hook is on a message board and he had that pulled out to about a 90 angle. Just got him straightened out that and he found his foster dads jacket hanging on a chair and thought that it would also make a great playboy tipping over the chair. It always seems to be with soft material stuff so he must like the feel of it. He continues to do very well here. He is a great eater and sleeps on the floor on a dog bed next to our bed. He does like to get up on our waterbed and take a nice afternoon nap if he can get in there. He is such a love bug. He normally is quiet and reserved but he will play with his foster dad which he likes very much. Yesterday morning, I was up first and he got up shortly after and I was getting him to go outside and he had this burst of energy and was play bowing and just having fun with me. I do believe that he will continue to come out of his shell as he learns about a true dogs life. He really would make a great addition to any home or family.

Major continues to be the perfect guest and is learning many new things everyday. He is really quite a character that he just makes us laugh. For some reason, he loves to mess with the shower curtain. He rubs up and down on it and sometimes will even go between the curtain and the liner and has so much fun at it. I think he is asking for another bath. One time I caught him with the liner in his mouth playing tug a war with it. Needless to say, I corrected him on that but I just wonder where something like that comes from. He is eating great and his coat is improving from good food.  He always sleeps on the floor at night on a dog bed. Sleeps through the night and is always happy to see you in the morning. I did see him one afternoon up on our water bed taking a little afternoon siesta. He was so cute all snuggled under the pillows. We have had no accidents in the house in over a week so I do believe that he has caught on to being housebroken. He did well meeting our new foster girl, Jersey who came yesterday. He got about 2 inches taller when introduced and was really showing her his stuff. He is just too funny. Major will make a great addition to any household. He loves everyone and everything. He is so calm and happy to finally have a great life. You are missing the cream of the crop if you don't think about making him yours.

2/3/07 -
Major is doing very well at his foster home. He has been brought up to date on his vaccinations, was heartworm tested and has been neutered. He was negative on his heartworm test and also had a lump taken off along with a tooth pulled. So, he is feeling much better now. He feels like a new man. We are working on his house breaking and will always go outside when you ask him but but just needs to fine tune that this should happen everytime. He is a great eater and loves everything that you offer him. He will give you just a quick little kiss once in a while but right now is mostly just almost bumping you with his head when you ask him for a kiss. He is good in his crate but hasn't mastered the true love of a peanut butter filled marrow bone. He is loving the dog beds that he can find around the house but his favorite is the one in the kitchen. He sleeps in our bedroom on a dog bed. No interest in toys yet but today when I was taking his valentine's day pictures, I put the heart headband on Max and he went over and took it off of him. You just never know what dogs that come from puppy mills are thinking. Major's foster dad has almost got him playing and he gets so happy when he tries to get him going. You can just see the love in his eys. It is so much fun to see him relax a little more now and just join in with the other dogs. He is very easy to have around the house. This guy is very lovable and would be a great companion for someone. Thing about making this guy a part of your family. He is so excited about meeting his new forever family.

Major was neutered today and brought up to date on his vaccinations. He also had an ugly growth that involved one of his nipples removed. He had another nipple that was also a bit enlarged but he decided to give them a scare and stop breathing so they decided to get him back awake ASAP. While he was waking up, they took a quick look at his teeth and had a bad tooth that they pulled on his right side. Our vet said that his back legs are not good but we will try him on some Rimadryl to see if he gets some relief from that. He is home, had a small bite to eat and a little water and is now resting on "his" dog bed in the kitchen that he has claimed as his. He will feel better tomorrow.

Major is the newest guest at the Boxer'In on the lake. He is a 6 year old flashy fawn boy from a puppy mill with natural ears and docked tail. He is marked very nicely with 4 white feet, white chest and a white collar. He does have some calluses on his hind quarters and elbows from I beieve being on concrete. He has already had a nice bath and he seemed to actually like it. It had to make him feel better. He smells alot better today, you can even hug him. Major would like to thank his transporters who helped him find his way to his foster home. He will forever be grateful for your kindness to him. Major has learned so many things already and he will continue to learn something everyday. He is already with all his foster brothers and sisters and seems happy to be a part of the pack. He is learning to key off of them and they are more than willing to have him tag along. Our girl Peaches has already straightened him out about a couple of things. She continues to be  nicknamed the enforcer. He slept great in his crate last night without a peep out of him. He didn't eat much last night but today is liking the cook at the boxer'in and ate his breakfast without a worry. He has learned that our little parrot bites and he doesn't like it. He barked at her but stopped when we told him no and redirected his attention. He also likes to watch TV. Guess he had never seen anything like that. Major will need some vetting to be brought up to date on his vaccinations, neutered and have a couple of lumps checked out. During his learning experiences, we are also working on his house training. He has no idea right now but will catch on that he is to do that outside. He does wag his tail when he is excited to see us and wants to give you a kiss but right now only puts his face up to yours. He kind of bumps your face with excitment. We think that he will come along just fine. He has made a lot of progress already. Check back to see how he is doing. Patience, kindness and love is all this guy needs.

Here are some pictures of my new foster boy who came from the puppy mill. He was very stinky so he had to get a bath first thing. I think he lived in a manure wagon. He is very sweet, confused and will need some vetting. One eye seems very cloudy and has a couple large growths on his nipples. He is asleep in his crate in front of the fireplace with a nice soft blanket. His foster dad says he cries like a little girl for being the big stud that he was suppose to be. More tomorrow as he begins his new life.
