UPDATE 12/29/08 - Hello
We have a new alpha in the house. Macy now follows my wife like a shadow. In return Macy has
specially cooked meals (boiled hamburger and rice, eggs and potatos) and lots of attention.
Our youngst, 10 year old boy, is a mini-alpha. Macy has not started playing ball but is romping around
with us.
The Vet tells us it may take another 6 to 12 monthes to fully adjust. This will be about twice the time I
was expecting but Macy is coming around.
She has adopted the shower stall as her clubhouse. Always entertaining for guests.
UPDATE 7/6/08 - Our Standard Poodle is doing just fine. She's a hit wherever she goes, especially
with the kids.
Macy is still very nervous and could stand to gain a few more pounds but coming along.
This morning she was sent to wake up the nine year old. She nosed his door open, licked his exposed
arm and then returned to my side. First time I've ever tried something like this and was very surprised it
all worked so well.
Macy's favorite activity is to go thru the woods for walks. Oddly enough, the longer it is the better. Her
second wind comes at about the 2 mile marker. She goes without a lead and is a different dog
Stay tuned for more dog and boy stories!
UPDATE 2/29/08 - Macy is doing better every day. My wife and I went away for the weekend and
left macy with my 16 year old. It took macy two days to forgive us but then she really seemed to accept
us; much more so than the previous week.
She now routinely leads on walks rather than follow or walk alongside me. She is positively frolicing
now. This is the dog I was expecting and the relationship is only expected to get better.
Macy has been befriended by everyone in the neighborhood. The 4'th grade girls make a big show of
petting her and talking to her. The neighbors are much more inclined to stop and talk.
We're making leaps and bounds of progress.
UPDATE 2/2/08 - Our std poodle is doing good. She has just started to accept us. still does not
consistently take treats (chicken meat/hamburger/hot dog) from us.
Obidience training was delayed for this reason. Initally she did nothing; turing her back to the group.
second week she did better but still difficult to reward behavior since treats were not accepted.
Macy has made great strides since. She consistently comes when called. really enjoys walks by the sea
and trhu the woods. Macy's favorite is the car rides.
Aside from the first 5 minutes of being in our house, she's house broken and is fitting in well.
12/29/07 - Macy has been adopted!
11/25/07 - Macy is one of the 4 poodles rescued from a bad situation. Macy is coming around great.
She gets along with all the other dogs here. She is cratetrained and housebroken. She is learning all the
noises of living in a house. Macy loves to be loved. I think because she is not use to getting attention,
she can't get close enough to you. She was great at the vets, brought up to date on her shots and
hopefully will be spay this week. Macy is a great dog and will make a family very happy.
