LELA
UPDATE 9/4/07 -  This is a monthly update on Lela.
She is just the greatest. She has fully recovered from the bacterial infection she was being treated for
when we first adopted her. She has had at least two follow up visits with our vet since she has been
with us and has received a clean bill of health.
Lela had obvioulsy had obedience training before we picked her up, and based on all of the commands
she understood and followed, LeeAnn agreed with us at that time that obedience training was not
necessary. She is very well behaved, understands and follows all commands and gets along well with
children, adults and other animals.
She gets along famously with our cat, our grown children's dogs, cats and even one daughter's bird,
which by the way, eats out of the same dish and along with one of her cats.
On two occasions we have left her at a local kennel overnight where she enjoyed doggie day care
during the day and played well with the other dogs.  We have left her alone in our house with our cat
and everything was left intact.
Thanks again to Second Chance Boxer Rescue. I have recommended you highly to the many people
who have admired our pup

UPDATE 6/8/07 - Our pup is doing just fine. When we picked her up she was one week into a month
long antibiotic treatment for an e-coli infection. She just had her second vet examination with our family
vet who said she is doing just fine. She seems to love children,is doing well when meeting other dogs
and she and our cat have become great companions.
She is very bright and learns fast. She has learned to "Sit", "stay", "leave it", "down", "shake" heal" and
"OK". When we feed her we tell her to "sit" and "stay" which she does while we put down her food.
She then waits until we say "OK" before she digs in.
We have been taking her for daily walks  both in the woods and in residential areas and she "heals" just
fine.
Her bed is in a wire crate in our bedroom and she goes into it voluntarily when she is tired, or when we
go to bed
All in all, we couldn't be happier. We made a good choice.

5/5/07 - Lela has been adopted!

4/26/07 - I'm sorry it has taken me so long to update this great little girl. She went in to be spay last
week and had was rescheduled due to an infection. She has been on some heavy antibiotics to get that
under control. She is now acting fine and going in to be spay today. Lela is the tiniest sweetest little thing
you could ask for. All she wants to do is please you. She is great with the other dogs, could careless
about the ferrets or bird. She loves kids and anyone that will give her attention. She is great in the car
and loves to go for rides. She has no accidents in the house or her crate. She will bark for a bit in her
crate as she wants to be with you but does settle right down. Lela loves nothing more then curling up in
your lap for a little loving. She has great house manners and will find a soft dog bed to lay down on
when tierd. She doesn't get the whole toy thing but we are working on that. Lela would love a home
where someone is home alot or she could even go to work. She has perfect manners and loves
everyone. She has a very submissive personality and is not going to start trouble with anyone. Lela has
been patiently waiting for that right home, after her visit with Dr. Matt today she is ready to go and has
her bags packed. Don' t miss out on this truely special little girl.

4/7/07 - Lela made her way to Maine today. She is a tiny little sweet thing. She has been a perfect
guest so far. She will be spay on Thursday and then ready for her forever home. More updates soon.

4/4/07 - She's getting more comfortable with the other dogs, and starting to play and cuddle with them.

3/31/07 - First off, I'm not sure what this girls name is. George thought it was Lela, but the woman at
the shelter wrote Leah on her papers. I've been calling her Lela (Layla) and she responds to it. I got her
home around 3:00, since then she has gone with me to pick up my car at the shop, gotten a bath, had
dinner, gone for an hour and a half walk (stop at the dog park included) and been introduced to my
pack, and integrated into the house. She played with a big boxer boy at the park. She went at it with
both of my dogs one at a time to let them know she wasn't gonna take their crap. They both understood
and everything has been fine since. As you can see from the pics, she is tiny and looks like she's been
picked on a bit. She weighs 40.6 lbs. she walks well on a leash, is very quiet and easy going, and gives
great boxer kisses. She has to get out of here soon. We are already falling in love with her. She looks
like a mini version of my boy.
