** NOTE: Because I am still a baby, I will only be placed in a home where someone is home often, such
as retired, work at home, work opposite shifts, stay at home parent, etc.**
UPDATE 3/10/07 - Well...where to start?!!! Jeter has adjusted to his forever home amazingly. He is
definately a "momma's dog", cuddles with me every chance he has. In the beginning, there were times
when Jeter would be competing with my 2 year old twin girls for lap space. Jeter has sinced out grown
my lap, but I don't think he realizes it yet!
Jeter has done extremely well with everyone he meets (young, old, human, animal...). He is wonderful
with my children, has never been nasty and they love him. Every morning I let Jeter go in their rooms to
get them...I open the door and Jeter runs in... and all I here is "hi Je-Je hi" with lots of giggles!! He is
very playful, especially with other dogs (he has played alot with my brothers dachsund-who might I add
gets tired of Jeter pretty fast!, and my parents lab mix-who is 4 times the size of Jeter but you would
never know).
Jeter went to the vet on 2/28/07. They say he looks great. He had several shots, including rabies.
Jeter did very well and was loved by all who saw him.
He has been to PetSmart twice and always impresses everyone. Although last time he had a bath
(Petco) one of the women dropped a can on the floor and scared Jeter so bad that he would not come
out of the corner...poor Jeter.
Well, I guess that's all for now. Thanks for our wonderful addition to our family!
2/5/07 - Jeter has been adopted!
2/1/07 - Hard to believe the puppies will turn 9 weeks old tomorrow. We are going to celebrate the big
day with a trip to the vet, they are due for their second vaccination and likely another deworming. They
are doing very well. So sweet and social. They definitely see me and their "food source" as soon as I get
up in the morning they start screaming. No barking as of yet just this silly high pitched yelping. They take
their trip out to potty then come in and make noise until I feed them. It appears they want to make their
presence known, as if I would forget to feed them. They eat like they have never eaten before, trust me
they are well fed we are on our 3rd bag of puppy food already.
They are doing really well with the puppy nipping. The biting has definitely lessened and they are
beginning to learn it is not acceptable. I'm pretty impressed with how quickly they are learning. They are
all a lot of fun. They play hard then crash for a nap. Jeter and Carmella are destined to be lap dogs
sometimes they prefer to just sit on our laps during play time. They others like to be held too but only
after they get to play awhile. Latte's new move is to jump over the other pups when playing instead of
going around them. Takeo loves the big dogs and my son. Cappuccino is so much fun. The other day
she was sitting in the family room watching TV, where's the camera when you need it?
I'm trying to get new pictures of the puppies. It's hard to believe but they are getting even more
adorable as they are growing up. They are some beautiful babies.
1/15/07 - Like Baseball? You are sure to hit a home run by adopting this little guy..... Jeter is a lot of
fun. He can run from base to base at warp speeds. His bases include the food bowl, water bowl, toy
bin and of course the laundry room to grab a sock or two. After he makes it "home" it is nap time for
sure! Jeter is a great little pup he's a great mix of playfulness and mellowness. He is a reddish fawn with
some white and a back mask.
1/12/07 - This pup is a riot. He "stalks" the others from afar, next comes the play bow.... then he runs in
for the attack.
1/10/07 - SCBR's newest litter of babies arrived Tuesday and we would like to thank their first foster
family for taking such great care of them. These little Boxer mix babies came all the way from KY, they
are now residing in NY. Tessie is the momma, she is a very pretty white boxer mix. Tessie arrived very
skinny, with a badly broken leg. The efforts began to save her leg and she was fitted with a specially
made cast. The vet had some doubts that her leg could be saved. Tessie was doing well and gaining
weight nicely. It then became apparent that she wasn't just gaining weight because she was eating well
but because she was pregnant! On Decemeber 1st these pretty little pups were born, 3 males and 3
females. Since Tessie was in such poor condition the vet advised the puppies be weaned a little early
and taken from Momma. The fear was the pups too long nursing would deplete her calcium supply and
interfere with healing. The rescuer in KY was careful to do everything right, the puppies were brought to
the vet to be properly weaned, dewormed and vaccinated.
Once the doctor gave the OK for the puppies to be transported arrangements were made for the
journey to NY. I will update the pups individually once we get to know them. They are happy, healthy,
chubby, friendly little babies! SCBR was contacted because the person who rescued Tessie doesn't
have an actual rescue, she takes dogs in vets them and places them on a wait list to get into a local no
kill shelter. The wait can sometimes be quite long and she did not want these sweet little babies to spend
a minute in a shelter. There's good news for momma Tessie too, her leg is healing well (the doctor is
amazed and can't explain it) and she is being adopted by her foster mom's sister. This is one very lucky
little family, their fate could have been horrific had things worked out differently. More updates and
pictures coming soon!
