** NOTE: Because I am still a baby, I will only be placed in a home where someone is home often, such
as retired, work at home, work opposite shifts, stay at home parent, etc.**
UPDATE 5/5/08 - Well it has been a year with our dear Gretal. We have moved back to Maine and
she loves it here. I am happy to be able to say that she will move out of the apartment in a month and
into her new home with it's big yard. No more cramped apartment.
She is doing really well with all family members and yes even the cats. It took a while for her and for the
kids to adjust but I am so happy that we did not give up on her because she is like another child when
she curls up beside me on the couch at night.
UPDATE 8/23/07 - I can't say enough about this sweet and beautiful girl. She has not shown any
more sign of mange and her coat is gorgeous. I also feel so much safer with her around. She lets us
know when someone is coming up to our house. She has stopped barking at the cats in the house which
is really nice. Everyone gets along great and it seems to keep getting better every month. We love our
Gretal girl and I can't imagine how we were without her.
UPDATE 7/23/07 - Gretal is doing wonderful. We could not be happier with our decision to adopt a
boxer and with our choice, Gretal. She has adjusted beautifully. Her mange is entirely gone and she has
hardly any accidents inside anymore.
She loves to play in our big backyard with the kids and the cats. We recently took a two week vacation
to Texas. She did so well. She travels very well with no carsickness and no accidents in the car. We are
so happy to have her as a member of our family.
UPDATE 6/20/07 - Hey everyone, Gretal is doing wonderful in her new home. We had a little trouble
at first with the other dog and the two cats. But now after a month they get along much better. The kids
are also adjusting well to the change. At first everyone was a little excited and they forgot to look out
for eachother but now it is great. She sleeps at the foot of our bed on her own bed every night. She is
just the best dog and we are all so happy to have such a big ball of love around.
5/19/07 - Gretel has been adopted!
5/12/07 - This is one very smart and cute little pup. She has already learned to use the dog door, and is
fast becoming a "pro". She spent most of the afternoon, while I was home, playing with 3 other dogs.
After I got home and they had supper, it was back to play! Right now everyone is sacked out and
resting. They all really need it! I took a lot of pictures tonight, but with them moving so fast, it is difficult
to get the ones I need to put on the site. I will try to get a few more in the morning and then perhaps get
them sorted and send a few in. Gretel is all puppy and still has some growing to do to catch up with her
big feet. She is learning fast that there is no "free feeding" here, and gobbled down her supper in pretty
fair time. She is submissive to Abbi, which is very smart as Abbi is the "head dog", avoids Clara the
grouch, but asks and gives no "quarter" when playing with the rest of the crew. She is wrestling and
body banging with 2 fifty pounders and a 65 pounder! They have a wonderful time and sound so
ferocious, but the worst is they just get really tired out! More from the Log Cabin tomorrow.
