UPDATE 5/14/08 - Elvis is doing great and am happy to say he now has had his teeth fixed. His
mouth was in rough shape, several teeth were missimg or about gone and he needed several more
extractions and a lot of gum repair. He definatly acts like he feels better and is getting along just fine with
the few teeth he still has. He still thinks he is rough and tough but dont think he understandsyet that he
has no teeth. So now Ol' stink breath needs a new nickname and gummers may work but will see what
fits him.
He really enjoys a bit of rough houseing with me and chompping on the few toys he's picked out of the
collection around here. Its funny to watch him try to grab hold of a ball with only one k-9. He gets it but
then it pops out so he goes chasing it only for it to pop out agian. Its become a great self entertaining
activity.
Elvis also seems to look out for Cleo the older princess of the house at times when the neighbors dog is
over for a visit and he instagates a litle play time with her. She isnt as steady on her feet as she used to
be and she will get into it with him but only for a short time. Elvis will get between them as if he knows
when she has had enough.
He really has developed into a great companion.
UPDATE 1/4/06 - Elvis is setteling in and getting used to life around here. He quickly learned the
routine and has been very good with Cleo the little princess of the house. He is also starting to have
more fun with the neighbors dog now that the scratch on his eye has healed and he doesnt need to wear
the cone around his head anymore. He was good during that time after he got used to the idea and
stayed fairly mellow but now has begun to show his true nature. He is quite playfull but gentle and fairly
well mannered. Someone has spent some time with him in the past as he knows most all the basic
behavior rules and is an all around good boy. He does have a small issue with other dogs when he is on
a leash that I need to figure out yet but has always been good with other dogs and people in the house.
Its too bad he had a rough period in his life but he sure seems willing to get a bit spoiled and happy to
kick back and lounge around in the comfy spots with Cleo. He also needs to get some dential work
done and a tooth pulled soon but it doesnt slow him down and is a good eater. Hopefully I can get a
few more pounds onto him before spring hits and we get to spend more time running around outside
12/2/07 - Elvis has been adopted!
11/25/07 - Elvis is now nuetered and ready for his forever home. He is the sweetest little boy ever. Well
behaved and quite affection. He still has loose stools though. We are giving him pepto bismo to harden
it up. We also found some small lumps by his shoulders. They are in the skin and quite movable...and
this usually is nothing. The vet says to keep on eye on them for any changes. Elvis is playful, respectful
to my girls, and is a quiet boy. We need to fatten him up though. He's not gaining weight fast enough.
We gave him extra helpings of turkey hoping this would put weight on him. We'll see. Anyway, this little
boy would love a family he can call his own very soon. He is wishing for the best holiday ever if he were
in his own home with his own mommy and daddy. Are you out there looking for this perfect little boy???
11/18/07 - - Elvis weighted in at 66lbs. at the vets. He was given the okay to be neutered and is
scheduled tomorrow the 19th for this very fun procedure!! LOL!!! He will then be able to go to his
forever home soon after. I don't see this little boy waiting too long for his new home. He is a sweetie
pie. Not much training here for him. He is very mellow at home. He gets into nothing!!! Well behaved.
House broken, no aniexty at all. Gets along great with my girls. He loves the quiet laid bak enviorment
he is in now. However, I really don't think he would be a problem in a fast paced noisy enviroment
though. He seems to adapt quickly to his surroundings. He also appears to be a perfect gentlemen. He
loves his walks and stays close to my husband as we walk him off the leash. He is just the perfect
happy, little guy.
11/11/07 - Elvis had a wonderful night here. No problems in the crate. He also went for a walk last
night with the girls before bedtime. He was wonderful!! He has a tendency to hump a bit, though. We
stop him in his tracks and tell him 'no" "bad". He looks at us funny, then he barks at us. He is too funny!
He obeys "sit", "stay" and "lay down", as well as "no" and "bad". He is a sweetie pie and very gentle.
More on him later after the vets sees him.
11/10/07 - Elvis has arrived!! A great big thank you to Allison for the transport, and to Jackie for
holding him at her home untill I was able to pick him up. Anyway, Elvis ia a beautiful brimdle boy with a
gorgeous black mask. He is very thin and boney. He doesn't look like he weighs more then 50lbs. He
met my two girls, Athena and Cece. He was not friendly with them at all. He growled at them and did
not sniff or wag his tail around them. We decided to keep them seperated for awhile. We will start to
intoduce them slowly again during the week. I will call the vet first thing Monday and get him in asap!!
More then.
