UPDATE 4/29/10 -
Diesel is just such a love. He seems to think he is a lap dog and sits on his Dad's lap in his office
chair. He just lost a good friend though, his snuggle buddy Robie. Robie was almost 10, when I
came home from work to find him in the linen closet (not unusual) when I went to pet him, he didn't
look right, he was drooling and his eyes seemed sunken. So I took him right away to the 24 hour
emergency pet care center. I was hoping for a case of pancreatis, but it was bad. He was in Renal
Failure. He stayed for 4 long days, for his IV fluids and he seemed to improve every day. When we
were able to take him home and start home treatments we were hopeful. But Robie didn't cuddle
with Diesel anymore. He stayed where it was dark and quiet. The first couple of days he was eating
well, and receiving his treatments without any problem.. we were to have his values rechecked on
day 7...we got the news 2 days later that his values had doubled since we got him home so the home
treatment wa  sn't enough, his kidneys were just too far gone. Diesel misses his brother, and so do
we. Diesel always brings a smile to our faces and warmth in our heart. We absolutely adore him.
And thank God he found his way to us.

UPDATE 5/27/09 - All of Diesels previous updates had been deleted so I gave up. But I decided
since he is such a great family member and is so happy with us that I really should update him. We
adopted Diesel in March of 2007, drove to Buffalo NY to pick him up. He had no hesitations about
getting into our Explorer with us and sitting on our son's lap the whole ride home. When we stopped
to let him drink and go potty, he never tried to run or pull away from us. He had some anxiety when
left at home during work days, and did chew a few shoes, but nothing majorly destructive. In July
2007 we had a friend in need of a home for her German Shepherd, his name was Turbo.. we thought
hmmm, maybe Dies needs a friend to keep him company during the day. Really Turbo needed a
good home and we had a GSD prior to Diesel. A few weeks of gradually introducing them and
finally they were friends, actually too good of friends. Mischief times two. We hadn't crated them up
until September when we came home from work tofind that all of the chocolate chip cookies that I
baked from the night before and put in the refrigerator so the pups couldn't get a hold of them, had
been eaten, fridge door wide open all breads and english muffins eaten.. Initially we just crated Turbo
and separated Diesel with a baby gate so he had the family room to cuddle on the couch. Then we
had some construction workers come and he started to pee everywhere.. so we bought him a crate
too. He doesn't like it much, but tolerates it well. All and all Diesel has been one of the best dogs
anyone could ever ask for. During his training he was the star of the show. The Trainer constantly
referred to him, and said things like, See how Diesel is just waiting for a command from Josh? Look
at how Diesel is sitting nice and quiet etc. Diesel is the Alpha dog, even though Turbo is 100lbs and
very tall. Dies is nice and trim and still very active. We did have to buy a King sized bed to
accommodate the dogs :)Sometimes Diesel even crawls underneath to keep warm. OH, and did I
mention, he loves to go for rides in the car and he does get munchkins when we get coffee. He is an
incredibly sweet, bright dog. We thank our lucky stars every day that we have him.

3/6/07 - Diesel has been adopted!
