10/3/07 - Chaez is 2 weeks into her heartworm treatment and doing wonderfully. She should have
about 6 weeks to go then she will be ready to be spay and for adoption. Chaez is handling not being
able to do much very well. She is so calm and well behaved she doesn't have to be crated as often as
most dogs undergoing treatment. She is gated in the family room (otherwise I'm sure she would run
around and try to play with the other residents) and she just hangs out either on the couch or dog bed.
We've decided that she is just going to stay with me through her treatment as I'm much closer to the vet
and she has settled in here very nicely.
Chaez loves everyone she meets. She does bark when someone comes over but I think it is frustration
that she can't go to the door to greet them. Once they go to the gate or her crate and give her a few
pets she is quiet as can be. She just wants to make sure she is not left out from getting attention, typical
boxer! We have a new 8 week old foster puppy. I was worried that Chaez would get worked up when
I brought him home. Well, Chaez showed me just how easy going she is. A simple sniff or two and the
puppy was welcomed into our home.
Chaez is really a wonderful little girl. She is just as happy as can be. I feel bad that she can't go for
walks, rides, play etc. but I think it bothers me more than her. I promised her as soon as she gets the all
clear from the vet we will walk across to the lake and she can run/play on the beach. Chaez would do
wonderfully in a multiple dog household, she would also do well with kids and is suited for a busy
home. We have friends/family coming and going all the time and she is fine with that.
9/17/07 - I picked up Chaez Saturday afternoon from her foster mom and dad. They are going out of
town for a few weeks and didn't want to start her heartworm treatment only to leave her with a pet
sitter. Chaez went to the vet first thing this morning to begin her treatment. Poor little girl has to spend
the night and will be picked up on Tuesday. She will be on strict crate rest and leash walks to go potty
throughout her treatment. It is going to be a really crumby few months for Chaez but it is for her own
good. Hopefully we can keep her busy with marrow bones and kongs so she doesn't get too bored.
Chaez has only been here since Saturday but I can tell you she is just a perfect little angel! She loves
everyone and does the best happy wiggle I have ever seen. She adores my 5 & 12 year old children.
Her nub wiggles so fast it is hysterical. Chaez is quiet as can be in the crate, goes to the door when she
wants to go out, keeps herself occupied with dog toys and then relaxes for a nap :o) Feeding time is a
riot, she gets so excited she spins in circles then finally sits for her food. I could go on and on about
how extremely wonderful this little girl is. She has the perfect boxer temperament loving, goofy, playful
and of course a LAP DOG!!!
9/3/07 - We are sorry to say Chaez's HW test came back positive. She also is getting over a very bad
kennel cough. She is being treated for her cough right now and when she is done with her meds for that,
we will begin her HW treatment. So unfortunately, Chaez will not be ready for adoption for quite a
while. She also needs to be spayed after her HW treatment. So we expect to have her around for a
while. We love her so much and she is a great little girl to foster, we don't mind having her around
forever. I will update in another week or so. Her cough is just about all cleared up and we will then
figure out how soon we will start HW treatment. Till then......
8/24/07 - Here are more pictures of our foster Chaez! She is true beauty and sweetheart as well. She
has a very gentle nature and is a loving, kissy, playful pooch. We have to grown to love already and so
much!!!
8/23/07 - Chaez has been with us for five days now. Thank you Linda for transporting her from Ohio
and Allison for holding her for the night for me. She was an owner surrender to a shelter. She is a
wonderful little girl. She gets along great with my two dogs. She is not Alpha at all. She is a happy go
lucky lttle girl. She appears to know simple commands, like sit, stay, come, no, and bad. She listens
pretty well and is a great companion to have around. She is all loving and kissy. She plays well with the
other dogs but she never bothers them to play. It just happens when they mutally agree to play. She
could make a great pet either with other dogs or as an only pet. She is just carefree. I took her to the
vet today and she is in great health. She was tested for heartworm (is negative) but was not updated on
any shots. She has developed kennel cough and therfore must be in perfect health for the shots. Also,
she maybe hanging around her foster home for about a month. When she arrived here five days ago she
was in heat. We have to wait one month after her cycle has ended before we can have her spayed and
sent to her forever home. I will update again in about a week.
8/21/07 - Just when I thought I had the perfect boxer, along comes Chaez!!! What a gem!! She is a
pure joy to foster. I am truly in love with this dog!! She is seeing the vet on Thursday the 23rd for a
check up and update her shots. She is in heat right now and I have no idea when she started and when
it may end. So I guess the vet can't spay her until this mess is over!!! I love her to pieces though!!! 'till

CHAEZ NEEDS YOUR HELP!
Chaez also has heartworm and needs about 8 weeks of treatment and lots of crate rest before she can go to her home. Heartworm treatment is very expensive & it will cost about $500 to get her healthy and ready to be adopted. If you can help with even $5 or $10 toward her care, it will be very much appreciated!
