UPDATE 7/21/08 - My last update never made it to the site but I think I was supposed to do one
more so here it is :) Brady is the best dog EVER!!! He has totally blended with our family. Life would
not be the same without him. He is deeply and truly loved!! I WILL be getting my next dog (far in the
future LOL) from SCBR. We could not be happier with the placement. Every detail is so worked out
that it really seems impossible to not get the perfect match! THANK YOU from the bottom of our
hearts SCBR!!!!
UPDATE 1/18/08 - Brady has truly come full circle. He had hookworm when we first got him. We
treated him and he has put on about 15 pounds. He is lean and strong and looks great. Chasing cats is
well behind him. The snow is not quite such an event for him either. He will actually go out and play in
it. The total sensitivity to it has lessened as well. No more red blotches! His ear FINALLY healed!
HOORAYY! I think he kept hitting it because of his anxiety in the kennel. He has adapted well to our
schedule and I think the anxiety is curbed by the fact that the schedule is pretty consistent. He has
gotten so much better at not jumping and it is a rare occasion and he is easily redirected when it does
happen. He loves to cuddle and tho he is my husband's shadow, he has become completely bonded
with me as well. I was so curious how he'd fit in and hoped he would be happy here, now I can't
imagine life without him. He is so loving and gentle and sweet. TY SCBR for the PERFECT match!!!
UPDATE 12/18/07 - Brady is doing very well. He rode the 12 hours home wonderfully! We
changed his name only because he did not seem to respond to his name that was given to him in July
when he came into foster. We had issues the first few days with the cats. The more they ran the more
his chased. They gave up running and decided to ignore him so that has settled down. His anxiety is
doing better and better each day. The first few days, anytime anyone left the house, he was a mess.
No, my husband gets up and goes to work and he sleeps right through it. We use a phermone plug in
called D.A.P It really makes a difference as I notice when it needs to be refilled, he seems more anxious
and has a harder time in the crate. He is very gentle and LOVES the kids. He, being a Texas boy, did
NOT like the snow so our first storm was a battle as he diecide NO way was he going out in THAT
stuff! We had three accidents. Since that day, he will now go out and play and use the bathroom. His
skin is very sensitive to the cold tho. He gets along so well with Gracie. They are the best of friends.
We had to reschedule obedience due to some crazy weather and are picking up the class after
Christmas. In the mean time, we work on the basics daily and he does SO well. All in all we are very
please with the newest edition to our family. We are looking forward to sharing our Christmas with
him. He has presents and a stocking!! Thanks for everything SCBR!!! We love him!!
11/17/07 - Casear has been adopted!
10/26/07 - I am happy to report that the past month with Casear has come with many improvements in
his anxieties. Yes he still will stand in and lick the bay window while I am mowing the lawn if I leave
him uncrated, but he has taken to his crate better while I am at work and for short intervals while I am
home. I tried to leave him uncrated, however he got into too much mischief such as eating a box of
gingerbread cookie mix and having #1 mistakes on the loveseat! None of these
behaviors occur when I am home.
He does not seem to mind his crate as much and appears to settle/calm down quicker than before. I
still have the four metal walls zip-tied just in case he is jumping still.
Also, another big step is that I am letting all the dogs out to use the bathroom while I monitor from a
window. It isn't like Casear will b-line over to the nearest piece of fence and start leaping. I would
still never leave him unattended for long periods of time and stay outside with him in a new environment.
He would try to jump if someone came near the fence, so that is just one other thing to be careful about.
Casear would greatly benefit from a home with another dog, I can not stress that enough. My Moses
and him are best buddies!! Right now, he is playing with him and not sitting next to me as you would
expect a dog with significant seperation anxiety to do.
9/5/07 - Casear is coming back to me tonight after just being adopted on Sunday. The prospective
parents were not willing to give him time to settle in to help ease his seperation anxiety about all the
changes. I am happy to have him coming back, however disappointed that this did not work out for
him. I was very happy for him and it seemed like this family could have been a great match...
Do you have the forever home that Casear is looking for? He's ready and waiting for it to happen for
sure this time.
9/2/07 - Casear was adopted!
8/13/07 - I had the unusual opportunity to have one of my fosters around little children this weeekend
and it went wonderful!!
Casear was just fantastic with my nieces (aged 7, 5, and 2) who are visiting from out of state. He was
so patient and soft-mannered while the 2 year old sat on his back while he was laying on the floor. He
tolerated some gentle prods and pokes. Their best efforts could not rile up this gentle giant.
Casear is a really great boy to have at the house. He is doing great with his housetraining. Although he
has some seperation anxiety challenges, he is not destructive in the house. He LOVES his toys,
especially the "cuz".
I have been able to leave him home uncrated for short periods of time with no problem. I just have to
make sure any "escape routes" are closed such as a window. He loves the companionship of other
dogs as he tends to be more of a follower than a leader in the pack. Casear will make a wonderful
addition to someone's family.
7/27/07 - Caesar went to the vet on Tuesday and was neutered, so he is officially ready to become the
newest member to somebody's family. He was great at the vet, however he did demonstrate some of
his fence climbing skills in his run overnite. He definately can not be left outside unattended. I'm not
sure if he will ever be able to be trusted, but he is so worth the extra attention that will be required to
keep him safe. I
let the dogs out and stay outside with them. I will leave him on his tie-out for short periods of time
when I am unable to remain outdoors. I know that it is not good to tether a dog, but he is well
behaved/unstressed and luckily my other two do not "tease" him while they are loose and running about
freely.
Casear is a real lovey boy. He has the perfect "smushy" face and his eyes are so beautiful. His
behavior and temperment are so wonderful. He is a mellow dog and walks excellent on a leash. He is
starting to play with his friends more and is loving his squeeky toys. He is becoming a great houseguest,
no accidents in a while.
His only downfall is the seperation anxiety. He would require someone who is home often and is willing
to
work through these challenges. I have been giving him Rescue Remedy prior to me leaving for work
and being crated. However, I continue to come home to a wet crate and a handsome dog with a sore
on his head. He has to be crated because he has tried (one time successfully!) to escape out a window
when left alone.
He has come a long way to find the love and security that a forever family can give him. Please consider
being that special person for Casear!
7/14/07 - What a nice day Alison, Casesar and I had at the Pinewoods Animal Hospital Pet Fair. It
was really well attended by dog and cat owners and their kids (skin and fur varieties). I must tell you all
what a hit Alison was with her super, well behaved and gorgeous Casesar. I bet about 4 or 5 visitors
rushed home to fill out an application. Caesar never had one crabby thought or growl for anyone there,
which is more that I can say for me ( ! ). I'll tell you kids, cats, dogs, all sorts of people were there and
Casesar was patient and as sweet as could be with them all. Thanks for staying the whole time and for
bringing Caesar Alison...Once your boy is neutered he'll probably have his pick of homes. This pup
seems like a perfect companion!
7/3/07 - I picked up Caesar from Bob&Debbie last night and left him in my backyard for 3 minutes
tops to gate off Moses and Ices in the house. Went outside- "Caesar?!, Caesar?!", no where. Then I
hear a rustle and here comes this white boy flying over my wooden fence. I wouldn't have believed it if I
didnt' see it.
He is a real sweet dog though. No problems with my dogs, met them easily and is getting along with
them
just fine. He is real easy-going, listens pretty well and is affectionate.
Does not love the crate, but settled down after a while to sleep. He has some sores on the tips of his
ears maybe from flapping or bumping around in the crate on the truck ride from TX. Blood speckles all
over.
Caesar has not discovered toys yet, but I see that he will open up soon and learn to be a dog again. I
don't have any information on his past. He needs to gain some weight, be neutered and get dewormed.
He will make a great friend as soon as he shapes up, which will be soon!
7/3/07 - The TX crew arrived late this afternoon. Caesar and Honey made their way to Debbie and
Alison. Caesar is a cute white boy with one blue eye. I got many kisses from him :o)
