UPDATE 9/29/07 - Buster is doing great! We love him. We have had a busy summer. We got to go
up to the top of Mt. Washington and look around. Buster has gained a little weight, thankfully, he was
a little skinny when he arrived. He is also getting used to being walked on a leash. He still wants to
chase cars but he we are working hard to train this out of him. He has completed one obedience clss
and is ready for another. The more we work with him the happier he seems. His sister, Dali, an
american bulldog, loves him and they play together every chance they get. And, yes, both dogs sleep
with us at night. I just love to cuddle up to a big furry dog. I found out a couple of weeks ago that they
are escape artists. I was at work and got a call from my neighbor saying that Buster and Dali are in her
yard and a little neighborhood girl was tring to get them back in my house. The front door had a
strange door knob that they figured out. Needless to say we replaced the door knob and dead bolt
that night. But while I was on the phone with my neighbor she screemed,"I think Dali fell in your pool!"
All I could say was grab her coller, and well my very little neighbor did. She got them both safetly back
in the house. I had to run around my neighborhood that night thanking all involved in the capture/rescue
of my two little escape artists. I got gifts for them to thank them and they were glad to be of assistance.
My dogs may be intimadating to those who do not know them but to those who know them, they are
loved.
UPDATE 7/10/07 - Buster is a sweet dog. He gets along great with our 2year old American Bulldog,
Dali'. She is a very enthusiastic, hyper dog that wants to play ALL OF THE TIME, and I thought we
would never find a dog that liked her or could even keep up with her. And although he is sedate and
calm compared to her he can keep up, for the most part. I can't believe anyone would ever get rid of
him. We feed them the best food we know to get and for treats they get organic, fresh produce and
they love it. It is so funny to tell the dogs they are getting a treat and you hand them an apple and they
love it. Buster and Dali sleep with us at night. Buster starts formal training on July 16th. He is going to
the place we trained Dali at and they use positive training and they have great trainers. He seems to
know how to sit but that is about it. We want to take him to the beaches in our area but can not till he
listens well. We are hoping training will do this. It did for Dali. He is very good with children and has
gone from a timid dog to one that is even stubborn at times. He is so funny when he does not want to
go for a walk, he will just stop, and refuse to go anymore. We just give a little tug and he gets going
again but you can see he has a mind of his own. I hope he knows we love him and will never give him
away. I will write again soon.
UPDATE 7/5/07 - First off thanks to everyone involved in our recent adoption of Buster - everything
was very well organized and went off without a hitch. You guys do great work!
Secondly, thanks for inviting us into the group!
Now.... on to the Dog!
Buster is such a love. I cannot express how great he has been. I was a little worried about the ride back
from Niagara falls to Maine with him and my other dog in the back of the jeep. However, there there
were no incidents whatsover. Buster seems to have adjusted well to his new surroundings. He loves our
american
bulldog Dali. They could chase each other around the yard for hours! Only problem to date is I need to
buy a bigger bed! Buster has claimed his spot and we cannot resist his eyes when he climbs up at
bedtime - boy are we suckers. He is definately a cuddler - cannot sit on the couch without a head in the
lap and it's usually two!
More to come later on and I will try and get some pictures up in the near future if anyone is interested.
6/17/07 - Buster has been adopted!
6/4/07 - Well lets see, Buster has been here for awhile and is doing great. He loves his foster brothers
and sisters (especially Ice). He loves running and chasing the other dogs in the back yard boy is he
fast! We are working on a few minor issues here like crating him when we are gone because he is a
little booger when it comes to the trash and counter surfing. He don't counter surf for food, just what
ever is on the counter ends up on the floor. So there fore he gets crated right along with Ice and he
don't seem to mind too much, he is definitely getting used to it and is all wiggles when we return! He
loves to snuggle with you where ever you sit and he sleeps pretty sound so don't startle him cause he
will growl to warn you that he is comfy! We have had NO aggressive behavior from him he is a sweet
heart and loves to play with the floppy Frisbee. He is definitely curious about the cat and the ferret! So
I'm not sure if cats would be good or not, maybe a dog savvy cat might work. Someone to snip the
curiosity in the bud lol! What more can I say he is a wonderful dog and we love him here, he makes
and will make an excellent addition to any home that is willing to work with a pup! So put your
applications in before he disappears!!
5/26/07- Well Buster arrived, thank you Ralph for holding him. Thanks to all his transporters for getting
him here. He is in general population and likes playing with Ice the resident puppy here! They can play
for hours! He is a barker lol someone comes to the door he lets it be known that he is here! He then
is full of wiggle butts and kisses. So far so good he slept like an angel down stairs with the rest of the
dogs and there was not a peep out of anyone or him! I dont think he likes the fire siren though he just
kind of paces when it is going off. So we are evaluating him to see that he will do well in his forever
home, he is a puppy still ya know lol! More to come on Buster in a few days, keep your eyes peeled!
