6/6/07 - This gorgeous hunk of a guy is still waiting for that special someone to call his very own.  Look
deep into his big brown eyes and see the tender gentle soul that is waiting for someone to love.   Notice
his playful personality and think of how much fun you could have together.  Admire his muscular
physique and realize that this guy is ready for anything.  Doesn't he sound like he is just right for you!

Bruno really is a great guy and I think he is a 'good catch'. His foster mom (me) cannot figure out why
he is still here!  I know the right home for him is waiting out there, but I am surprised he hasn't found it
yet.  Is it yours?

5/18/07 - In my last update I wrote that Bruno was hoping that he would have some playmates.  Boy
does he ever!  Not when it is raining, of course (because my Boxers would melt like the wicked witch),
but when it is nice out these three are running, and boxing, and play-growling and body slamming each
other!  It is so much fun to watch!  With all of the dogs I have had here, this is my first real "pack".
(Beau is too old to participate, and he yelps if anybody body slams him, but even he is doing a little
running in the yard.)

Up and down the lower deck stairs, around the pool, around the big old maple and then CRASH, a
Boxer pig-pile.  And then the action repeats.  (Maybe with all of this exercise Bruno will lose a few of
those extra pounds!)  They are all having so much fun.  And I am too.  I did try my Cesar Milan act and
decided that 3 is too many, but 2 is managable.  Seperate leashes--nobody did well on the doubler I
have, and Bruno was the worst--no consideration at all for the dog at the other end of it.    No
growling, just selfish oblivion to his pulling and tugging on them!

5/10/07 - Bruno is a trooper!  He welcomed TWO new male guests to the Riverview, and didn't bat an
eyelash.  He did wag his little nub like crazy, and he is bouincing up and down like Tigger (or an African
Gemsbok) he is so happy.  He is already trying to play with Rex and Paris.  And maybe they will join in.
Beau doesn't, so this way-younger-acting-than-his-age boy is hoping for a playmate or two.  I am
pleased, and delighted to report that we are all one big happy family, which is the way I like it!  There is
nothing in the world for Boxer lovers like me that can beat four Boxers laying at you feet and following
you from room to room.  Bruno has come so far in the time we have had him as a visitor here, and I will
miss him terribly when he goes to his forever home.  Which a great guy like him deserves.  I'm not
saying that everyone would find him perfect, but he is a sweetie!

4/24/07 - Spring is in the air, and Bruno is wondering why he is still waiting for his forever home!  He is
such a sweetie, you don't know what you are mising.  In case it is his age that is holding you
back--don't worry--he could easily pass for a two year old.  He loves to play and has plenty of energy.
In fact, I'm releived that  he ISN"T any younger that he is.  Bruno's leash behavior has improved with
every walk we have taken.  He now doesn't pull at all, even though he gets so excited when he sees the
leash because he just loves going for walks.

Bruno had the opportunity to show his great personality and cuddly good manners at a home visit for
prospective adopters this weekend.  It was our first visit to another home, and while I was confident
that he would be well-behaved or I wouldn't have brought him, he impressed me.  Bruno jumped out of
my truck with nub wagging as he met the homeowners.  He hung out with us as we walked the property
and toured the house.  And when we all sat down in the living room to chat, Bruno clambered up onto
the sofa and laid his head in the lap of the gentleman!  Bruno loved all the petting and attention he was
getting.  He would love to move in with you if you are looking for a well-behaved snuggle-bunny Boxer!

2/26/07 - Bruno spent a lonely Valentine's Day here at the Riverview.  He cannot understand why
noone has come forward to be his forever Valentine!  And neither can we!  He is such a love-bug and
snuggler.  As Bruno has gotten more and more comfortable with us here, he is clearer and more certain
about what behaviors we expect and accept.  Bruno still is a great watchdog, but he is also a welcoming
wiggle-butt when people are invited in.  He had an exciting visit to the beach here in Kennebunk over
the weekend.  He was VERY excited to be there and meet all the people and very excited to see all of
the dogs there, too.  Some of which he got to meet.  I think with more exposure to exciting situations
like this, his comfort level would increase and his behavior would get even better.  (He responded well
to corrections on his choke collar, but he is a strong dog!)  Bruno is a happy fellow, and we are happy
to have him visiting here until his Valentine comes along.

2/2/07 - Bruno had the opportunity to shower a visiting three year old with smooches and doggie
kisses. Which he did!  My son's girlfriend's brother was visiting with them here at my home, and Bruno
was delighted to have a little boy to love!  I do think that he would tend to be rather protective of a little
person, and might react adversely to anyone or anything he thought was a threat.  For example, as three
year olds do, he was running around the house with Bruno following him.  When they 'bumped' into
Beau, Bruno growled at Beau.  Time out time for the skin kid in the other room so everyone could calm
down.  We have put chubby Bruno on a diet--he is eating Light food and less of it.  We are also trying
to get him to exercise more.  My son walked him downtown and back yesterday (about a mile) and
Bruno was very well behaved.  He really is a sweet fellow and deserves a forever home where he is
loved and cherished.  He would love it if that home had a big enough bed that he could sleep in it with
you--especially under the covers when it is quite cold like it was last week in Maine!

1/9/07 - Everyone here at the Riverview is surprised that a 'catch' like Bruno hasn't been snapped up
yet.  He is cutie and a big fat cuddlebug who loves his comfort.  Bruno does have trouble 'holding it' for
a long workday and occasionally has an accident next to the door, but he clearly knows that he i
supposed to 'go' outside and does so.  He still is a super-watchdog, with a big loud bark.  But he is a
friendly fellow once somebody comes into the house.  He does well even with all of the comings and
goings a house with a teenager experiences, and never tries to escape when a door is opened.  He and
Beau haven't had any issues in ages, even around food.  My kitty is standing up to him a little more, but
I still would not recommend him to a home with a cat.  Bruno is very loving and gentle, and amazingly
playful.  If we didn't know his age, we would certainly underestimate it based on his behavior--he
LOVES to play!  Bruno has found the toy box and entertains himself tossing and chasing toys that he
tosses around the house himseslg.  He also loves chew-toys, but has never chewed anything a dog is
not supposed to.  Bruno likes his kibble a bit too much, and the Riverview has to cut back on rations as
he has put on a few of those holiday pounds that beleaguer many of us.  Were my foot up to it, he
would love to take long walks and really behaves quite well on a leash after the first minute or two.  On
our walks he would like to act the protector, but allows me to take and keep control of situations.

11/26/06 - Now that I am off of my post-surgery pain meds I will write an update on Bruno that
actually gets sent!  Before my foot surgery, we continued to go for daily walks (weather permitting), and
Bruno continued to improve his leash manners.  On our last walk, he met a bunch of little kids, and
charmed all of them with his gentle calm demeaner and his major butt-wiggling.  He gave the 3 year old
a big kiss, and was so excited by his giggling response that he gave him another.  No jumping or pulling,
just a happy response to all of them.  Bruno also got to play host to my friend's little Cocker Spaniel.
He was quite the gentleman and shared his food and beverage with her nicely.  She was not fond of his
incessent attentions, however, and spent some time under her mom's chair (where he couldn't bother
her.)  Of course he is a big young lug and she is a little old lady at 13.  While Bruno continues to be a
phenomenal watchdog, barking and growling furiously at noises emanating from the front door area, he
also continues to happily welcome company into the house.  With my son living here, there are people
coming and going all the time!

10/22/06 - Bruno had fun at the BRAD in South Portland today.  He charmed numerous
shoppers--humans of varied ages--with his Boxer good-looks and friendly, gentle demeanor.  He also
met a few dogs with wagging nub--Tucker and Sugar, so I think that he would be fine with most dogs
once he got to meet them, just like he is with Beau.  He tends to growl at dogs he has not met, but
quiets quickly with a reprimand or redirection from me.  He was quite excited to be out in such a busy
place and enjoyed the smells and people and activity.  He slept the whole way home in the car!  That
was nice for me because he curled up next to me on the front seat and I got to pet his velvety soft side
while I was driving home.

10/20/06 - Bruno is now UTD on all shots, and is Heartworm free.  He is on antibiotics for a mild case
of Lyme disease, and had his first of 2 doses for Hookworm.  He weigehd 73 pounds and the vet was
very complimentary of his lovely, shiny coat.  Bruno continues to get along fine with Beau, who has
accepted him as boss.  My kitty finally came home, and Bruno does have too much of an interest in her
for me to recommend him to a home with a cat.  Bruno loves to go for walks, and behaves very nicely
on the leash almost all of the time.  I have been walking him with the choke chain collar he came into
rescue wearing, and he pulls only if he sees another animal.  I tried the Gentle Leader but he really did
not like it--he was so agaitated that walking was nearly impossible.  We are planning on heading up to
the BRAD in Portland on Sunday, so anybody who is thinking that this sweetie may be the man for
them can plan on meeting him there!

9/30/06 - Bruno continues to be a wonderful guest here at the Riverview.  He gets along fine with Beau
except that he gets jealous because he wants ALL of my attention.  Bruno knows how to 'sit', and is
learning how to walk on a leash without pulling.  He's already gotten much better at that, and sometimes
I take him and Beau at the same time.  His worst time is right at the beginning when we exit the door.
Bruno likes to ride in the car, and he waits very nicely while I run my errands.  He still is a great
watchdog, and has gotten better at discriminating which noises he should alert me to!   Bruno is very
responsive and wants to please.  He doesn't appear to have learned many manners in his former life, but
is learning them now.

9/25/06 - Bruno has arrived at the Riverview, which now has internet again after a few days 'off'.  He is
an owner surrender along with Roxie as their family was moving into a new home & did not want the
dogs in it.  He is a gorgeous fawn, and well-mannered, too.  Bruno is housebroken, knows 'sit', and has
no food agression.  He is a bit of a barker--seeming to need to announce everything he sees as new in
the neighborhood.  Which is EVERYTHING since HE is new in the neighborhood!  He settles down
immediately, so I am confident that this is just a temporary thing.  Bruno is not enthusiastic about his
crate, but does go in and settles down soon.  He would much rather be out and about, and has lots of
opportunity for that, too, since he is well-behaved.  He is friendly guy, full of wiggles and kisses, and has
met and is even OK with my Beau so far.  He does seem to want to chase small animals--birds,
squirrels, chickens, and we were told he does NOT like cats. .
