3/22/07 - Great news.....Boo Boo has gained 5 pounds! She is really looking good. She has a few
more pounds to gain, but that will come in time. I was so surprised that she had gained that much in just
1 week. She really needed it.
I am still working with her and my dogs. I am not able to put them together yet. I have been walking
her with my female Abbey (side by side) and they have been doing great with that. I am going to keep
doing the walks until Boo Boo is comfortable with my dogs. This southern belle does not like the
COLD weather. Sometimes it takes several trips outside when it is cold before she will go to the
bathroom. She does love to take car rides and she does great. Anytime I go near my car, she is right
at the door wanting to go for a ride. I am surprised that she loves to go in the car since she had such a
long trip in a vehicle from Louisiana. She is such a great girl.
3/18/07 - Boo Boo arrived yesterday from a long car trip from Louisiana. There was no room in any
shelters or rescues down there, so they transported her to Maine to get a good home up here. She was
treated for having heartworms, but she had a vet visit last week and received a good bill of health. She
is very skinny and could gain some weight (I am thinking she could stand to gain around 10 pounds).
Boo Boo has the cutest underbite you have ever seen!!!!!!
Boo Boo seems to love everyone even young kids. She met a friends 7 year old girl who Boo Boo just
loved, and she couldn't give the 7 yr old enough kisses and butt wiggles!! Boo Boo is a very gentle girl
who wants to be your lap dog. She will sleep in your lap as long as you will allow her to. She does
well on the leash, no pulling. She will sit when given a treat or she will sometimes sit on command.
At this time, I would say no to having cats around. Although Boo Boo does not seem aggressive
towards my cat while I have her on a leash, I think if Boo Boo was loose, she would chase my cat. I
was told that Boo Boo was able to be around other dogs, but at this point, I am not so sure if this is
correct. I have two boxers (a 10 yr old female and a 15 mth old male). When Boo Boo arrived at my
home, I had my two boxers in their kennels. I took Boo Boo to their kennels for her to sniff them.
That went ok. Later that night I had Boo Boo on her leash, and then took one of my dogs out on her
leash, Boo Boo wanted to go after her. So I decided it was not the time to introduce them yet. I
allowed Boo Boo to rest and relax the rest of the night in a separate room where there was no
distractions for her. The next day, I had Boo Boo in the kennel where my dogs and I were all day and
allowed my dogs to go up to the kennel to sniff Boo Boo. Some times Boo Boo was fine, then other
times she was growling at them (especially at my male). But as the day went on it was getting better. I
am hoping to do introductions out of the kennel within the next couple of days.
She is going to be a great dog for some lucky family. What a sweetheart she is!!!!!!!
3/17/07 - Boo Boo just arrived at my home (her new foster home) about 1 hr ago. Thanks Melissa for
picking her up!!! She is a really big sweetheart!!! She stunk so bad that I had to give her a bath. I had
to wash and rinse her about 4 times before she smelled good. She did great. After her bath she crawled
right into my lap and took a short nap.
My cat was not too happy with her being here, but Boo Boo was not aggressive towards my cat, she
was just more interested in her.
My dogs were in their kennel, I allowed Boo Boo to sniff them through the kennel and there were no
problems by allowing them to sniff. I did try to see how it would work with introducing them out of the
kennel, but it is not time to do that yet. Boo Boo really needs to rest and get more relaxed before I do
introductions out of the kennel. I will see how she is tomorrow and we may try introductions then.
She is so skinny!!!! I gave her some food and she ate it right up in no time. She also has the cutest
underbite!!
