ABIGAIL
(ADOPT ME & MY DAUGHTER SHADOW & HER $150 ADOPTION FEE IS WAIVED!)

1/15/08 - Hi Friends, Our permanent foster, Abigail was sent to rainbow bridge earlier today. She is
being missed by all of us tonight at the Boxer'In. She hadn't been feeling very well for the last week and
we could see that she was going downhill. She was retaining water which made it very hard for her to
breath and walk without being in a lot of pain. We enjoyed her for 11 months and I have felt so lucky to
have her here with me. She was as  sweet as can be, thought nothing of playing hard with her foster
dad, took care of all her foster brothers and sisters if she felt they needed their faces cleaned, she took
care of her daughter by grooming her everyday,  and I can tell you that she made my heart skip a beat
when I looked at those eyes of her's. Shadow is doing fine but looking for her Mom but she will be
okay here. My only regret is that I didn't own her for her whole life. She is in God's hands tonight, I'm
sure he has a plan for her. Hug your dogs tonight.

UPDATE 8/25/07 - We had so many applications on these two girls that we just couldn't decide where
would be the perfect place for these two girls.  So.... we decided that the "perfect home" for them was
right here at their foster home.  We really didn't have any applications on them but we are thrilled that
they will spend the rest of their lives with us.  Not sure how much longer Abby-girl will be with us but
we will cherish everyday.  She is getting pretty tired but she will tell me when she is ready.  She
absolutely makes my heart jump a beat because of her ways.  They both love life here and Shadow
who has never been without her Mom will be okay when she finds herself alone. No one is ever alone
here.  We feel very blessed that they are in our lives.

8/22/07 - Abigail & Shadow will spend the rest of their days happily with their Foster Family!

4/15/07 - Abigail is doing well at her foster home. She eats good and is pretty active for a girl her age.
She is taking 1/2 tablet of rimadryl to help her with arthritic back legs. It helps with the pain and at times
I have
to tell her to please not get so excited. When I am sitting, she will try and come up putting all her weight
on those weak back legs. She never complains and is just a great girl. She has to be reminded to go out
or she
might not make it all the way outside. We have an attached garage and that is where the door is that she
goes out of and sometimes she goes in the garage just because she has waited to long to go out. I tell
her how
disappointed I am about it and she starts wiggling and I just can't stay mad at her. It's those eyes that
get me. She follows me everywhere and recently started sleeping on the couch with the other dogs
when she is tired. Her friend Shadow is usually always by her side but Abigail loves one on one
attention. Actually both of these girls love attention. They are good eaters and look forward to the two
meals per day. They get their peanut butter filled marrow bones when we leave and will race you to
their crate to get them. We have started to leave them free in the spare bedroom when we are gone and
they both are good. Shadow will steel Abigail's bone but she lets her so my thinking is that Shadow has
done this to her for her whole life. She is just a good mom and very patient with Shadow. The girls are
waiting for their new forever home anytime now. They don't require much and are grateful for
everything you do for them.

3/18/07 - Abigail is doing great at her foster home. She has been brought up to date on her vaccinations
and she is being treated for mites in her ears. She was a good girl at the vets and they all thought she
was quite a girl and for her age pretty healthy. She is now with all her foster brothers and sisters and is
good with everyone. She loves her life here and gets so excited when we come home from work. She
bounces and plays like she is just a youngster. Abby is a sweet girl and so easy to have around. Abby
and Shadow are more than likely mother and daughter. They are always together, even spending their
days while we at work in their crate together. They sleep always touching and sometimes, Shadow will
sit on her while Abby sleeps and she never moves. She is very tolerate of Shadow. Shadow thinks
nothing of sleeping on top of little Abby. They groom each other and it is  always fun to watch. She is a
good eater and eats kibbled food twice daily. Abby loves when you get down on the floor with her.
She boxes wit her front feet and because she has such a pushed in face she will actually snort. You just
can't help but fall in love with her. I think Abby could go into any
household and be happy as long as she is with Shadow. All she needs is a little love, some food and a
warm bed. They both will give back more than they receive.

2/24/07 - Abigail has made her way to her temporary foster home. She came in with another female
named Shadow. Both of these girls were used for breeding and their story is a sad one. Their owner
had passed away and her children were faced with what to do with these dogs. They were to be put to
sleep the next day if we didn't find a spot for them. There was even talk about them shooting them but
thank goodness that didn't happen. They are the smallest boxers I have seen in a long while. I bet they
don't weigh 35 lbs soaking wet. They had baths yesterday and it could have been their first as they
were sooo dirty. They are eating great and can stand to gain some much needed weight. We are
feeding them 3 meals right now to give them some extra strength. They are drinking a ton so I even have
a feeling that they weren't being taken care of. They need to be brought up to date on their vaccinations
and spayed. Abigail is very stuffy so I have put her on some antibiotic to see if that helps her. She has
met her foster brothers and sisters through the gate and doesn't seem to care one way or the other. She
has a few lumps and bumps that will have to be checked out also. Please check back to see her
progress. She is so lovable and already I find myself wanting to make everything alright for her. I think
that Shadow might be her daughter so they have always been together. Her eyes tell her story.
