UPDATE 1/3/07 - We are so proud of Titan! He finished Obedience School Tonight and
he passed the CGC-Canine Good Citizens Test/Program. I am going to
pay the five dollars to recieve the certificate so I can hang it
along side all my others kids trophys and awards.
We can't believe Titan has been here for only five months. We can;t
remember life without him.
We recently spent five days up at Attitash Ski area in NH. We had
made the reservations back in March before we were even looking for
a new dog. Our reservations were not in a pet friendly place. I
started to panic because I didn;t know what I was going to do with
Titan. There were 20 other people staying in the same house...even
if I snuck Titan in ...it would have been way to hectic.
As much as I hated to, I called a kennel/groomer in Conway NH. She
told me that she has quite a few boxers as regular kennel and
grooming clients. After I gave here a 45 minute interview I felt
that Titan would be fine there. I have never put any dog in a
kennel so this was a real hard decision for me. I dropeed Titan off
on A thursday with tears in my eyes when I was leaving. It was
worse than dropping the kids off for the first day of Kindergarten.
My Daughter begged me not to leave him there - she thought it
smelled funny. Long story short...Titan was fine...I called twice a
day just to make sure....I am surprised she answered the phone when
she saw my number on the caller ID. I know Titan was happy as can
be when he heard me talking to the person I heard him start
barking. I think he almost dislocated the groomers shoulder when
she was bringing him out. She finally dropped the leash and I was
smothered in kisses, hugs and the most wiggly boxer but ever.
He slept all the way home to Massachusetts always making sure he was
snuggled up or on one of the kids. Although we missed him when he
was away from us I am happy I found a safe place to leave him where
he didn't stress out. Will try and post some new pictures of him
soon.

UPDATE 10/24/06 -  Hi Everyone,
We can't believe it has been two months since Titan joined our family.  He has blended and meshed
with our family so well that each day he amazes us.  I can honestly say that Titan from his first day here
has never done ANYTHING wrong.  We couldn't have gotten a better dog if we hand made him like a
dell computer...LOL.  He loves to go for car rides and he loves to go to work with me.  He has our
schedule down pat and knows when I put one shoe on he better head for the door so I don't forget to
take him LOL.  He gets to that door and just starts jumping and spinning.
We started obedience training last month.  Things are going very well.  Titan already had been
professionally trained at some point in his life and it shows.  The only downfall about training is
treats...Titans stomach doesn;t really like too many....so we usually drive home from obedience class
with the windows down...lol. I think obedience traing has helped Titan understand our family tones :).  I
speak to him like I do one of the kids.  he knows when he is off leash and told to come he comes!  I
just give him the mommy means business voice.  I put him in a down stay in the front yard and had the
kids throwing balls and stuff around.  he stayed down until I called him and I was 30 feet away.
Obedience training has helped to the point that I can trust him and have learned about his body
language.  I now walk him into my office off leash...because my hands are usually so full.  If I carry a
leash in my left hand bunched up he falls right in.  He has met everyone in our office building and he
loves everyone...he is the perfect poster dog...when we meet someone he sits right down and waits for
me to finish talking.
We took Titan on his first camping trip with our family. This trip was planned months ago before we
were even thinking about getting another dog.  We rented a trailer and dogs were not allowed in the
trailers.  So our kids and thier friends decided that they would sleep in a tent with the dog.  They didn't
want to put him through any extra stress by leaving him with a dog watcher.  I was very proud they
decided to do this.  Titan was awesome on this trip.  He greeted everyone slowly at first but after a
minute was up on everyones lap giving kisses and trying to get a warm spot next to the camp fire.
Titan is very fast.  You would never know he was seven by watching him run.  He can be very
intimidating when he runs full force at you but he always dodges at the last minute so he misses you.  He
boxes with my youngest and myself but noone else in the family.  I think this is because we spend the
most time with him.
Well sorry for such a long update but I just can't say enough about Titan.  If Titan has a female
counterpart out there....we want her:) so she can keep Titan company.  Will update again when we
finish obedience school.

UPDATE 9/10/06 -  We can't believe Titan has been here one month!  He has blended with our family
from day one.  He is terrific with everyone that comes through the door.  We have a very active
household with the door always opening and he handles it all in stride.  He does a funny sounding howl
when a new man that he has never met before enters the house.  But once the man takes a seat on the
couch the howling stops.
Manners.....hmm lets see....I think Titan wrote the book about manners.  I can't think of one thing he
has done wrong since he has been here.  We are one lucky family to have found Titan.
Crate.....Titan hates it so he has been permanently freed from it.  At first he was very anxious when one
of the kids left the house..I was unsure how he would be when we all left so I decided to move his bed
in the living room when we leave.  I also give him a new marrow bone.  I close the living room doors
and he has adapted to this very nicely.  He does not touch a thing while we are gone.  When we come
home his nose is pressed up against the glas door.  When we open the door.....WATCH OUT.....THis
boy knows how to dance.  He jumps in circles then he goes to each family member wiggling like crazy
and bumps into them.  If you encourage him to jump up he will.  We laugh so much when he gets this
excited.
Vet visit.  The vet thought Titan was 7 months old....until he looked into his mouth :).  Looks like he has
been a crate hater for some time.  Titan is in perfect health.  We had a senior screening on him and so
far everything has come out perfect.  Vet thought 66lbs was a great weight for him.  Titan was a perfect
dog at the vet.  Not a flinch when he got his shots and blood work done.  Had a few of his nails clipped
and didn't ever glance at the tech.  His sores(?) lick marks on his back legs are now starting to have hair
grow over them :)
Weight....looks like we should call our home the boxer weight loss spa.  Titan has dropeed two
lbs...since his arrival.  I brought him to the vet yesterday for his second lime shot.  Looks like he is
getting alot of exercise with the kids.  Between palying with the squeaky ball and one long leash walk a
day he is doing great.
We start obedience school the beginning of next month.  Which should be fun...He already knows
everything :).
We are going camping in a few weeks.  I rented a extra camp site so Titan could come along.  We
made our reservations before we adopted Titan and we are staying in a trailer.  Dogs are not allowed in
the trailers or on the trailer sites.  So my oldest and his friends have volunteered to sleep in the tent with
the dog.  We found out Titan likes to swim...so we will be bringing him to Old Orchard Beach while we
are away..Will have camera in hand to capture any funny pictures if he ventures into the sea.
Thankyou again to all the people at SCBR that made Titans adoption possible.  We really love this big
mush face.

UPDATE 8/29/06 - Hi, We are the family that adopted Titan! Boy are we one lucky family. Thank you
SCBR. He is hands down the best dog on the planet. We couldn't have asked for a better match. He
still doesn't like his crate and the vet says that judging by the looks of his teeth he hasn't liked it for a
long time. Vet also said if he hadn;t looked at Titan;s mouth he would think he was only 1 year old. So
we have freed him from the crate and he has been great. It didn't take him anytime to setle down once
we arrived home. After one day he recognized my Husband and my 17 year old son. He still is a little
man shy but I have heard that is true of many boxers. He has definately met many new men recently
since our house is undergoing renovations. When a man enters the house...Titan does this funny howling
sound to let us now there is someone new in the house. We look forward to becociming an active part
of the SCBR group and volunteering in any way we can.

UPDATE 8/17/06 - Hi Everyone,  Titan is at his new home in Massachusetts. The trip home from
Maine couldn't have been any easier.  Titan just loves the car.  We really have a great dog here.  The
first week has been great.  Titan is adjusting to the family great.  Each day he seems to be more relaxed
and his nub is starting to go crazy.  He has THE BEST house manners.  He doesn't counter surf, he
doesn't jump on furniture and he hasn't had any accidnets or marked in the house.  He is a little shy
when new people enter the house but he settles down quickly.  He does this funny howling sound when
people come in.  He walks ok on the leash most of the time but if he gets excited and wants to go home
he pulls.  THis will be something we will work on when we go to obedience class.  Titan doesn;t seem
to be liking his crate.  I have tried everything and he just doesn't want to go in.  When he is in the crate
he drools excessively and constantly licks the door then after 15 minutes he starts to chew on the door.
I keep trying to get him in there everyday but I haven't made any progress. Because of this we have
stopped putting him in the crate at night and he has been happy sleeping on the floor of one of the kids
bedrooms.  Titan has taken a dip in the pool.  Seems he got a bit excited when the kids were jumping
off the diving board and he decided to jump in and give it a try.  He didn't seem to like it very much and
he hasn't been in since.
We can't believe it has only been a week since Titan's arrival.  It seems like he has been here forever.

8/10/06 - Titan has been adopted!

7/30/06 - Titan has been in his foster home for a few days now and is settling in nicely.  He is not so
nervous anymore and can relax and enjoy being in a home.  He has met all the other dogs here with the
exception of
one old guy.  I think he would be fine, but Bubba can be grouchy and is not in great health so I don't
want to risk it. My dogs let him know right off the bat that he was a guest and this was not his home and
he accepted it graciously like a gentlman.  He will run with the other dogs but hasn't really wanted to
play with them yet.  I think he will as he gets to know them better. Titan is a very smart guy someone
has spent some time with him in the past working on training as he has a lot of commands under his belt.
So far we have discovered he knows sit, down, paw, sit up, and rollover.  A favorite of Titan's we have
found is a squeaky toy.  He loves to run and play keep away from you with the squeaky.  He runs and
squeaks it at the same time as if to say ' ha,ha you can't catch me.'   Now that he has settled in Titan has
began to enjoy his meals.  He will eat 3 cups of food twice a day with no problem.  I think we will cut
him back a little but he could use a little weight.  Probalby the stress of being in the shelter helped him
shed a few pounds.  Titan is in great shape and ready for his forever home, if you are looking for a
gentle loveable boxer boy that is a true gentleman don't let Titan get away!

7/27/06 - Here is my newest foster boy Titan, he is an owner surrender to a wonderful shelter here in
Maine.  He was clearly stressed in that enviroment so they called us to take him.  I just picked him up
this morning and he is a little nervous so we are going to take it slow getting to know him.  Although he
seems really sweet we will let him settle in and get adjusted to his surrounding before we try intros with
the other dogs here.  According to his info from his former owners he has lived with other dogs, cats
and kids.  Titan is 7 years old but as you can see from the pictures he is in great shape and very
handsome.  If you are interested don't wait I'm sure he won't be our guest for long.
