4/17/06 - With great sadness and a very heavy heart we let Timex go to the Bridge today.

Originally they were thought to be fatty benign tumors. With minimal blood flow.  When the vet went in and began the procedure he found an enormous amount of feeders.  The procedure took several hours to close her up.  The vet was also VERY concerned about the tumors he removed. He knew they were not just fatty cells. they were sent out for evaluation.  The results came back mass cell 4 or worse...

At first, right after the surgery she appeared to be doing well.....  In the past 3 to 4 days she has had chronic diarrhea and has been vomiting. She dropped 12 pounds.  then more mass cells began popping out all over her..... including re-growth of the original spot.  We believe it was in her spleen to be running like wild fire through her system.  I have lived this before with cancer of this grade. Once opened they just spread like nothing I've ever witnessed.  She was suffering and in pain.......
Rescue is about quality of life and acts of love and kindness.  The final act of love we were able to give her was to let her go to a place where she no longer suffered.

She was with my family and I for 4 months.  We adored her and believe she felt the same for us.
She did not have to die in the shelter. She slept in bed w/ my children and got lots of kisses and love.
we wanted to thank everyone for your support and donations during her Heart Worm Treatments..
God speed Timex baby girl.
I lit a candle for her.. and her ashes will come to me and be placed with Chelsea's and Bandit's.

Well, Ms. Timex had her final heart worm treatment on Thursday.  The vet feels all went VERY well! The doctor also feels she is 6 to 7 years old. that she has just been so physically neglected that the tumors make her present as older then she really is.  She will have her tumors removed on 4/13 along with trimming the over growth of gums around her teeth.   She spent a couple of days with her Aunt Dee........ Dee is close to the vet who is doing her
Treatment.and she picked her up for me Thursday evening.  Timex came back to her foster home today..
She immediately went to bed in the boys room.  So, I put up the pressure gate to contain her in there, 15 minutes later she pushed down the pressure gate and went next door to the little girl Paige's room ( mind you. the kids were not home..lol lol) she just needed to choose the right bed for her body :)).She then proceeded to take a long nap.  This Timex girl is just to funny. She knows what she wants and when she wants it.  She is fully house trained and not destructive. Does not need to be crated.  She wants nothing but to be with you! she is a great companion fully of personality and a true lady with so much dignity she will be ready for her forever home right after this procedure.
She is wonderful with children of all ages, including a 2 year old. She just lovessssss kids :) please consider this dynamic girl that truly needs a second chance to your home.  she has that true Boxer charm that we know and love!

Well, I have to share with you about this little girl (who by the way is currently watching me type).  She is some case I tell ya....   Timex' new thing is that she will break down a gate when in a room...  She does not like the gate confining her(to the torture of the bedroom).  lol lol    See, she breaks it down, then goes back to bed..lol lol   She does not even leave the room. Just has a need to take the gate down!!???   like HUH I don't want that there. and it needs to go!!   I"M NOT KIDDING TAKES IT DOWN GIVES ME A DIRTY LOOK AND GOES BACK TO BED!!    The other nifty trick of the week is...... I had to crate her because the guys were working on the floor.   Well, I DARED FEED HER DINNER IN THE CRATE!   She had a tantrum and threw her bowl and food all over, kept flinging it over and over... rotflmao  I'm telling ya. she is the queen and has NO PROBLEM letting me know that!    I just think she is such a trip ..... so much personality... she make me laugh so much!

Well, our little friend has really begun to come into herself.   She has decided she does not like other dogs male or female. lovessssssssssssssssss the kids and tolerates the cat.   She is a true love bug and wants to be with a human all the time.   Timex is house trained, not destructive and is clear about letting me know crates are not for such a lovely lady.she is a princess with a lot of DOGnity. lol  lol

I believe she is older then we initially thought.  She has some minor hearing and sight deficiency this does not seem to affect her what so ever! she is as sharp as a tack and does not miss anything :)  She is truly a gem and has personality for days :)

She will have her next heart worn treatment in 2 weeks. Then 2 weeks after that she will have her tumors removed.
She will then be ready for her forever home. If you considering an older dog that will be your best companion this is your girl!

Our Timex girl has had her 2 injections of heart worm treatment..   She returned home Tuesday evening thanks to her uncle Jim who waited around north jersey to pick her up at 7pm.  It's been a slow go. Tuesday evening she was clearly in a lot of pain. she was crying and moaning.   i slept with her for a couple of hours on the floor of the boys room. i just kept holding and petting her. She was Timex in her True Boxer self. pain and all I still got smiles and kisses from this angel girl.  Wed morning she spent vomiting and moaning. She keep drinking a tremendous amounts of water.  This morning Thursday she is clearly feeling better. Ate well was demanding about what where she wants to sleep in .( she is so funny) she really let's you know what is acceptable to her and what is not. she will give ya a look like what the heck??!!  you don't expect me to sleep in this ?? do ya ? ( meaning the crate)

She will need to be very idle for the next couple of weeks. She is at risk for complications of this treatment (death!) if the worms being killed off cause a clot as they filter through her system.  So we will be keeping her quiet and giving MS.Thanggggg choices as to what bed she would like to sleep in :)  A pretty princess this dignified does not feel she should have to be crated like a dog! lol

I cannot even begin to express how loving this little girl is! She has just won the hearts of her foster family.
Her goal in life is just to be with us.. She seeks out the kids to hang with them as they play video games or watch TV. she just snuggles in and gives kisses.  Her spirt is priceless. she is so smart she learned bark in 5 minutes :) Turkey sandwiches seem to move her to want to chat :) lol lol

She continues to experience watery stools 3 days after her Giarida and whip worm treatments.  Most likely she will need to be retreated and we might look into a specialty diet.   Medically she still has a very long way to go......
She has not been well enough to treat the heart worm nor do any procedures to remove tumors.  Her blood work indicates that her kidneys and liver are functioning well. And that she is a candidate for treatment she requires..
We will keep you updated on her progress

Timex is a wonderful girl full of personality. Her eyes are sooooooo soulful. she keeps looking at me like she has a whole story to tell.I always wish they could talk :)  She was a stray to a shelter we work with.  She does have some medical issues that are being addressed. She has Giarida, whip worm, and sadly she is heartworm too.  She has been treated for the whipworm and Giarida and we are awaiting for the test results of her blood work to assess her liver and kidney functions to see how well she will tolerate heartworm treatment.  Her tumors are fatty tissue and will be removed when her physical health has been improved and she gains some weight.  She is very trusting and seems to believe me when I tell her she is safe and SCBR will care for all her needs and she will feel better soon.

THANK YOU FROM ALL OF US AND TIMEX FOR ALL OF YOUR DONATIONS!
We have received many donations & had some very special sponsors for Timex to pay for her very expensive vet care that is needed to get her better.  We have enough money now to finish her treatment and surgeries that are needed when she is healthy enough to have them.
Thank you so much!
Look at my awful tumors!
