UPDATE 6/6/07 - It's been sometime since I last updated Sadie, she is doing very good, the meds she
is on really help her get around. We live on a long and very privite road and my three girls have allot of
freadom. Sadie loves it out here in the country, daily walks and swims in the stream she is livin the life.
Her weight is steady, last vet visit was 65 pounds. Sadie talks allot, loves attention and loves to play
with her toys, she is doing great.
UPDATE 2/5/06 - Sadie is doing very good, she has very bad hips but with the meds we have her on
right now it seems to be helping. The cold weather seems to make it worse. But when she gets moving
it's non-stop. She got into a tangle with a baby racoon, she is the hunter out of my group. Sadie and
Zena play more and more, Sage just keeps an eye on them to make sure they are being friendly to each
other. Most days we walk between 2-3 miles, she has put on some weight, about 8 pounds, she now
is at 63 pounds. My vet Want her to be around 70. Other than that she is one great girl, always doing
sometime to make us laugh.
UPDATE 12/5/06 - Getting close to her three month update, Sadie had a recent vet visit and is doing
very good weight wise, she is now at 64 pounds. When we got her she was 55 pounds, still would like
to see her with about 5-6 more pounds. Sadie is a great dog, she and Zena play together very well,
Sage is going downhill pretty fast and Sadie seems to sense that. She is going back to the vets in two
weeks to get a very large skin tag removed on her hind end, hopefully it isn't anything. Thanks to
rescue for this great girl, best regards
UPDATE 10/25/06 - Sadie is doing very well, she and Sage had two small battles the first week, but
zero since then. They have become very close buddies. Zena and Sadie continue to play together
more and more all the time. Sadie is an older girl with some medical issues, but after her nap you would
think she is a puppy again. On our daily walks she runs like she just broke out of jail, very funny girl.
Loves to ride, love my son Chase. She is a great dog and we are very glad to get her.
9/30/06 - Sadie has been adopted!
9/14/05 - Sadie has really come into her own here at the Riverview. She is a Boxer who likes the
water! We live adjacent to a small river, and Sadie walked right into it as soon as she saw it--first
Boxer I have had who did that! Sadie also likes squeaky toys. And she tries to play with Beau who is
just way too old to want anything to do with that. Today we were in the fenced-in back yard and she
ran and ran and ran in circles around the pool and deck. What a speed-demon she was! Now we are
back inside and everyone is sacked out on a doggie bed in the Living room. Except me, and I am
about to jump on the loveseat right now. Aren't her pictures great!
9/6/06 - Sadie is a sweetie--but she does not like a crate!! That's OK, because she is perfectly
well-behaved in the house even if not crated. She discovered the toy box here. A big marrow bone is
her preference for major chewing, and she likes to carry soft toys around in her mouth like a retriever.
And is a soft slipper is more readily available than a soft toy, that will do for her as well. As the
podiatrist finally gave me permission to do some nonessential walking, Sadie, Beau and I went for a
short walk today. Sadie needs to learn some better leash manners, but she responded very well to the
limited training opportunities we had today. And given that it was her first opportunity here to check
out the neighborhood, she really was pretty good! Sadie is a great watchdog. Loud barking, and then
a big wiggle-butt when her guests arrive in the house. Sadie gets along great with Beau who is old, and
also with our young foster, Oliver. No one can beleive that she is as old as her birthdate makes her--no
grey hairs, and she acts as young as 4 or 5. Sadie is an easy keeper, and we at the Riverview ar
happy to keep her until her forever home comes along!
8/29/06 - Sadie arrived at the Riveview last night (thanks to Beth and family) after a long drive from
NY to Maine. She is a gorgeous almost-flashy fawn with well-cropped ears and a docked tail. She
walked into the house and immediately started wagging her little nub at Beau and Oliver. She loves
attention, and has shown that she knows where she is (and isn't) supposed to go to the bathroom. She
has already settled in enough to be comfortable to eat, and has no issues with people or other dogs
being near the food dish. She is gentle, and knows "sit". Sadie spent the night in a crate next to my
bed, and settled down although alot of panting and a little drooling. Did her business outside this
morning like the good girl she is, and than it was off to work for me! Sadie spent the day on the
3-season porch, which has a doggie door to the yard. I can tell from the amount of dirt that she
tracked into the house that she was in and out quite a bit. But no destsruction and no accidents, and at
the moment she is laying in the Living Room so I guess she got enough exercise to tire herself out. (I
hope she is still tired and sleeps well tonight.)
