UPDATE 1/25/08 - OMG Its seems as if Ruby has been here all her life, she is a well behaved, and
sweet girl...she mothers all of us, on a daily basis...Iwont use any of my usual cleche\'s but a little over
bearing on the nudgy side.
Its all good.....she still hates the crate...she feels she is above sleeping in a crate. she starts grunting
and snorting and getting upset when she hear the blow dryer and smells the colognes and perfumes.
she is too funny.
cant remember our home with out her...she is a true boxer friend...she even stands in as the family
therapist sometimes, especially for our 6 year old after the loss of our beloved son this past july.
Its been a great ,rewarding experience....
UPDATE 9/15/07 - Ruby continues to be a bright spot in our home........
She has so many nick names.......but her new one is momma.
" she is there to mother everyone......and she has to have her nose in everyones business, she lectures
and repremands if we misbehave or dont give her attention when she wants it.."Momma". lol She is
calm and quiet.......but when she wants to play.....
she is a true boxer . She still to this day hates to be crated.......she get very insulted. lol and its not
that she wounldnt be fine , with the run of the house...because she would ......but the motion detectors
are just det too low for comfort...she would hem off when she jumped up on the couch..
would love to add titan to our home....want to wait to find out more about him......not sure yet.
UPDATE 2/27/06 - RUBY RUBY RUBY...SWEET RUBY...SHE IS SUCH A GOOD
GIRL...ONLY THING SHE WANTS IN LIFE IS LOVE AND COMPANIONSHIP, SHE
FOLLOWS ME EVERYWHERE. i CANT WAIT UNTIL SPRING SO WE CAN ENJOY THE
OUTDOORS...
THE ONLY THING RUBY DOESNT LIKE ...IS TO BE ALONE...SHE DOES HAVE SOME
SEPARATION ANXIETY...WHICH WAS KEPT IN CHECK WHEN SHE HAD OTHER
DOGS AROUND HER...BUT NOW THAT SHE IS THE ONLY DOG CHILD...SHE HAS
PROVEN TO BE QUITE THE LITTLE ESCAPE ARTIST...I DONT THINK SHE WILL TAKE
TO BEING IN A KENNEL MUCH WHEN WE GO ON VACATION..SO WE HOPE WE
CAN FIND A FRIEND TO WATCH OVER HER...WE MAY HAVE TO CALL ON OUR
BOXER RESCUE NETWORK TO HELP US OUT?????
ANYWAY RUBY IS EVERY BIT CONFORTABLE IN HER FOREVER FAMILY, AND WE
DONT HAVE ANY COMPLAINTS, SHE IS A BEAUTIFUL BOXER, IN ALL WAYS.
"NOT SURE WHO SNORES LOUDER***HER OR MY HUSBAND.LOL.
UPDATE 1/16/07 - Ruby has adjusted very nicely.
She is surely a little gem. She is a very calm and quiet boxer...which is not what we are used to. After
Just a short time she knows the family routine..the kids bus arrivals and departures etc...
She had a few minor skin tags and benign tumors removed last week and will have the stitches
removed tommorrow.
She is just so sweet and so funny in her ways you just cant help but love her....I find myself letting her
get away with things that I never let my other boxers do...such as sleep with my husband and I, sit on
my new couch...taste my ice cream...lol....my kids are like what happened to you mom...
my 5 yr old is so please with her...she is not skidish about anything...he has a pot up little hut he plays
with in the house and she thinks its great to become a little camper with him. I was telling her
foster..that on new years eve...as I was steaming some king crab legs..and piling them on a plate..one
slip to the floor and off trotted Ruby carting a king crab leg in her mouth as if she new just what to do
with it...of course miss manners dropped it right away but just the look on her face was worth a good
laugh.
she acually has no bad habit, that I can even complain about...if anything as she get to know us and
trust us more and more that she will play and lighten up a bit...she is very serious.
she is a pleasure and everything that was reported about her behavior and temperment have been right
on the money.
will update with pictures as soon as I figire out my new
camera...obedience training will much more fun and meaningful in the spring when we are out doors
more often.
Of course missy ruby doesnt like cold or wet paws lol
12/30/06 - Ruby has been adopted!
12/15/06 - Ruby will be in her foster home 3 weeks tomorrow. I am so surprised that she has not
been adopted yet. She is such a cuddle bug and loves to snuggle. She loves to run around and play
outside with Cosmo and definitely has not shown any interest in being alpha. She settles into bed at
night and curls up and just breathes that sigh of relief that she is being loved and cared for. That is all
any boxer wants. Ruby is no exception. She looks at you and you just know that she is trying to tell
you something. She is very polite when she receives a treat and does not seem to have any bad
qualities that would hold her back from getting adopted. I would love to see Ruby home with her new
family settling in before this year is over. She deserves that, she is certainly a keeper. We all love her
so much already. And she has the prettiest face, little bit of bad breath but hey nothing a doggie mint
won't help! LOL Think about adding this sweetie to your bunch, she would be a great second dog or
an only, she is just so very sweet and well behaved. Make her apart of your family today. :)
12/4/06 - Ruby is here over a week and she is a little darling. I sing to her....Ruby, Ruby Roo, Where
are you? (think scooby doo theme) and she just sits and listens. lol Ruby is eating well, does her
business outside (first few nights she liked to get up and go inside) but knock wood we seemed to be
over that. She is so so about going in her crate but she doesn't run from me anymore. If I ask her to
sit, I can go get her and i pick her up and bring her to the crate. She settles down before I am even
out the door. She LOVES running around the yard with Cosmo and Ruby has come around and will
play with Cosmo in true boxer style. :) She is very gentle with my daughters who are 5. She doesn't
jump or get rough. Ruby is a snuggler, she likes to be near you. She does not seem to have food
aggression and did not try to come in and be alpha with my boys. She doesn't counter surf or get into
the garbage. She knows sit and has learned the rattle of the treat jar lid! lol Ruby is very alert and
knows the comings and goings of the household already and what the routine is. She is very smart,
you can just tell by looking at her, her eyes are sooooooo soulful! She is just adorable and so tiny! It
is nice at night when we all pile into bed! She doesn't take up to much room! There are so many
great things to say about Ruby, she really needs her own family who will devote themselves to spoiling
her and making her apart of their family..........could that be you?
11/25/06 - Ruby was surrendered by her owners to me on Saturday. She is the smallest pure boxer I
have ever seen. She has such a lovable sweetness about her. She likes to be with you and will follow
you around and watch and look for you. She seems to be playful with Cosmo and likes to run in the
yard. She has only been here a few days so I will update again once I get to know this cutie a little
better. :)
11/24/06 - Ruby she was surrendered back to rescue after 3 years in her home as she had one
snapping incident with their 18 month old baby. She had never had any problems before or after this
one time & and she was WONDERFUL with the baby, but they did not want to take any chances.
10/19/03 - Ruby has been adopted.
10/10/03 - Hi everyone! Just checking in to give a short update on Miss Ruby. She is the most
wonderful dog to have around! She is all healed from her spay and is running and playing with the
resident pups all day long! She's really getting in shape quite nicely. She has graduated to eating 3
cups of food a day now and should be in tip-top shape in no time flat! She has also earned the right
to stay out of the crate all the time now, unless I have to go out for more than an hour, (I still want to
keep it safe, eventhough she's out 24-7 when I'm home and is an angel). She has learned "sit" and
"stay" and we're working on "down", but she's a little leary of that yet. She has also learned "drop it"
when she has something she's not supposed to (like Daddy's remote-which she made into swiss
cheese! :-( We have gone for a few car rides and she just loves to sit and watch everything that
passes! We have also taken a few walks and she's pretty good on the leash, some pulling but as soon
as I correct her, she falls right back into line. Ruby loves to meet new people and give gentle kisses to
anyone who will let her! This girl will make some family the luckiest family on the block!! So get
those applications in, she won't be around much longer!
9/29/03 - Hi everyone, it's me Ruby. My foster mom said I could drop you a note to let you know
how I'm doing. I really love it here with my 2 foster brothers, 3 skin kids and my foster mom & dad.
There's always somthing going on, or someone to play with. Mom says that I still have to "keep it
cool" for a while because of my stitches, but it's hard 'cause I really want to run and play! I'm doing
much better eating now, but that's because Mom always mixes some "human stuff" in with my kibble.
When I'm not trying to play, I love to cuddle with anyone who will sit still long enough! Mom says
that I'm turning into a real special girl! I'm still not too sure what all this "manners" stuff is for, but I'm
trying to be a good girl 'cause I get special treats when I do something they want me to do. I have
had a couple of accidents in the house but Mom said that it was her fault that she wasn't watching my
"potty signs". I don't really like to go into my crate at night either, but I do it because they say that
have to make sure that I don't hurt myself. All I want to do is sleep with everyone else on Mom and
Dad's bed! Well, gotta go out for a potty break now. Talk to you soon!
I would like to introduce you to our newest foster girl, Ruby. She was a stray from one of the shelters
near us. Ruby is approximately 2 yrs. old, flashy brindle, cropped and docked. She
is a very small girl, but doesn't let that stop her! She recently had a litter of puppies, so her girlish
figure is not what it should be, and she could stand to gain about 10 pounds. She's been here for 2
days now and she's adjusting very well. She took an immediate liking to my 5 yr. old boy, but wasn't
too sure about my 10 mo. old, so I kept them apart except for short observed periods of time.
Today they are acting like old friends, but because she was just spayed on Monday I'm keeping the
play to a minimum. I honestly don't know how she would be with another female, but my boys are not
at all dominant and she's fine with that. She is not eating too well, so I'm feeding her small amounts
4-5 times a day and she's doing better this way. She is extremely cuddly, sweet and just wants to be
near us. She doesn't have any problems being crated, although if she knows I'm home she will bark
for about 10 minutes then will settle down. Ruby does not seem to know any commands so we will be
working on that, but she doesn't have any other issues like counter-surfing or garbage-picking. She
doesn't seem to have any food issues either, but she is a bit on the
dominant side when it comes to toys, with the boys only- humans are fine! She absolutely loves my 3
kids, likes to follow my 3 yr. old son around and cuddles with my 4 yr. old daughter every afternoon
while they watch TV together! Some family will be very lucky to add this gem into their lives!
