UPDATE 12/20/08 - I am sad to update that after a 6 week battle Roxie passed away from Auto
Immune Hemolytic Anemia on 12/19/08. She was a wonderful girl and we will miss her greatly.

UPDATE 11/14/08 - Roxie has been doing well. However she was diagnosed with Autoimmune
Hemolytic Anemia this week. We are tring Prednisolone,Imuran,Sucralfate,Doxycyclline and
Cimetidine. Please keep Roxie on your thoughts she is such a great old girl.

UPDATE 8/31/07 -   Roxie is a wonderful girl. She continues to do well. Her check up at the vets went
well. We took her to the lake swimming she had a ball. She also loves to play with the kids and the
sprinkler in the back yard. Her antics are so funny to watch. We now have a horse and she really
doesn't pay any attention to it. Roxie sits on the back deck and watches her graze.

UPDATE 2/17/07 - Roxie is doing just great. She loves to go to her Tuesday morning obedience class.
She has had to have previous obedience training, she has mastered everything with ease. Its hard to
believe Roxie is 8 years old! The recent snow storm hasen't slowed her down. She loves to run through
the paths with the kids. Boxers are the best!

UPDATE 1/14/07 - Roxie is a wonderful addition to our family. She has adjusted just fine as though
she has been with us forever. She loves to play with the horses stall ball as well as fetch with the kids.
She has been treated for worms, and we now have her on heartworm preventative. She did great at the
obedience sign up. She was a perfect lady with all the other dogs that were there. We couldn't be more
happy with Roxie!

12/15/06 - Roxie has been adopted!

12/11/06 - It is hard to believe that Roxie has been here since late September. This lovely 'senior' lady
has come a very long way! She is now crate trained, but does not do well in the 'vari-kennel' type of
crate. She is 'cat friendly' and trustworthy with a cat. (She shares the family room with two cats most
nights.) She doesn't really need crating under most circumstances. The only reason she is crated here is
that she and my Alpha girl don't get along well! She really loves to "hug" her people and looks forward
to a bit of one-on-one attention several times a day. Her incision is being covering nicely by her
beautiful reverse brindle coat. She also loves
her ball!!

She is extremely active and bouncy for a 'senior' and would make a wonderful playmate for anyone.
Won't you consider this lovely lady and take her home for Christmas? She told me she just wanted a
"home of her
own, in her Christmas stocking"!

11/28/06 - My foster mom keeps telling me just how beautiful I am. She also keeps telling me that I
have a very nice personality, but no-one calls. I am a really nice girl: just give me a toy and let me play
with it for awhile. It is nice if it squeaks, but it doesn't have to. The fur on my side is growing in very
nicely and I am sure the scar will be covered in time. With cooler weather here it is nice to have the fur
growing so nicely. I like to play with Rose and Sam. We run around the yard a lot, bark a little if
someone walks too slowly by, or if there are some deer on the other side of the fence. When
foster-mom leaves, she takes Abbi with her most of the time. Then I get to take care of the house while
she is gone. Of course she crates Sam and Rose, so I don't have anyone to play with. Clara only plays
with Sam most of the time. Sometimes I am crated, and I am really getting used to it. I would just rather
not have to be crated sometimes. At night the gate is closed, but the doors are open to the rest of the
house. That means that I get to stay in the family room and lots of times the kitties, Angel and Pepper
(what a grouch), sleep in the family room as well. I don't bother them unless Rose is around, usually.
Time for me to go to bed. This computer stuff is tiring for a pup!

11/10/06 - Roxie and I had a very long conversation a couple of days ago. She was telling me that she
really wants a home of her own by Thanksgiving. That would be quite a feat, as no-one has expressed
any interest in this very friendly and lively senior girl. She does not like being crated, and will have to be
on Thanksgiving, as she will be sharing another room away from company, with the other dogs. She did
say that being crated on Thanksgiving would be very frustrating for her! She really loves people! She
understands, but would like to have her very own home. She is getting much better around the cats and
will cease attempting to chase when spoken to. I am beginning to think that she would be fine in a home
with cats, now that she has been acclimated to them, again. She did go for a few years without cats in
her home. Won't you consider this very nice girl for your home?

11/05/06 - Roxie continues to be her normal playful self. Several (older) stuffed toys have fallen victim
to the tug-of- war games that she and Rose play, and have had to be discarded. She usually allows me
to lead her to the crate with no problem, now. Once in a while she balks, but since she has had to
spend up to 3 hours at a stretch in the crate, she is doing much better. She can be left loose with no
problems, but only if my Alpha is not in the mix. Otherwise, we have a (so far, bloodless) scrap to
break up. Roxie has a generous scar on her left side, but I think it will be pretty well hidden and smooth
out in time. Dr. Matt thought that the whole mct is gone. The fur is growing back nicely. If I didn't know
her birth date I would not believe that this girl is a
senior. She is ready and waiting to become a companion to someone that likes playful girls!

10/29/06 - When Roxie had her stitches removed today she also got on the scale. Since it really isn't
nice to ask a lady about her weight, I will whisper it: she is down to 61 pounds and now has some
shape! Really looking good! She still doesn't care for the crate and wouldn't need one, except for the
conflict with Abbi. She still does drool a bit extra, but usually isn't too stressed.

10/27/06 - Roxie had her stainless wire stitches removed today. She stood on her hind legs and hugged
one vet tech, while the other removed the stitches. She was soooo very good! Afterward we went to
Wal-mart
and she behaved very well in the car.  This girl is ready to go home with you!

10/25/06 - It is difficult to believe that Roxie is actually 7 years old. She has got lots of energy and is
willing to play most of the time. She gets her wire stitched removed on Friday, and should then be good
to go! Be adopted that is. I don't know if anyone has shown any interest in her or not, but I certainly
hope someone does. She is a super nice dog!!

10/12/06 - She is a very healthy girl, loves people, but needs to be with either a male dog or submissive
female dogs. With her and Abbi in the same room it is like rubbing 2 sticks of dynamite together! Roxie
starts it and Abbi won't back down! The good news: the mct that Dr. Matt removed from her side was
a grade one and he got good margins. The one on her leg was some sort of fungal infection and
hopefully will not re-appear.
She still has some healing to do, but should be good to go to her forever home very soon, if not now. Is
there one out there?

10/1/06 - Roxie is usually a pretty good girl, but she doesn't really care for other female dogs of the
Alpha persuasion. In other words, she keeps going after Abbi. So.......Roxie is being crate trained, like
crates or not! She gets very upset with the plastic crate, so I have her in the wire crate and she is doing
pretty well. She was also crated last night as the night before she attempted to get Abbi in the bedroom.
Two days, 7 attempts, 4 of which were successful. The others were preempted just in the nick of time!
Roxie also displays a lot of interest in the cats. Too much and since she may have a learned behavior to
chase, etc. I would recommend that she not be placed with cats. No cats and no dominant female dogs.
She does get along well with Sam and Rose and has lots of play time with them. She is getting her
exercise and then some.

She really is a very nice dog and will make someone a nice companion. She has had some obedience
training, I am pretty sure. That is all from the Log Cabin.

9/30/06 - Roxie doesn't care for the closed crate (plastic type), and isn't crazy about the wire crate, but
she is being crate trained! Yesterday and today she challenged Abbi no less than 6 times!  Abbi is
Alpha here and will not take challenges! So far, no one has any injuries, and I am doing my best to
keep them separated at all times. Currently Abbi has full run of the kitchen and family room, as well as
the outside.  Roxie is in the living room behind the gate and complaining!  When crated she also
complains, but ......that is life. Roxie is getting along well with Sam, Rose and Clara.  So, she does get
some play time outside with Sam and Rose.  But so does Abbi. Rox also is still displaying too much
interest in the cats and they have taken to avoiding her even more.  Usually, they hang with us and even
lay with the dogs on the love seat.

9/26/06 - Roxie is now updated on her shots, heartworm tested as negative (she had not been to the
vet since 2002), and is scheduled for surgery next Tuesday to remove 2 and possibly 3 lumps. The third
may just be some sort of ulcer, which she is going to have hot packs to soften the crust and antibiotics
just in case! It will be re-evaluated when she goes in next week. She also weighs 65.5 lbs. but is on a
bit of a restrictive diet for the next week or so to help trim her down just a bit. Dr. Matt thinks she is a
very nice dog and is very "solid". He just couldn't imagine someone giving her up.

9/24/06 -  This is one very nice girl!!  She doesn't like the crate at all, but is very good otherwise.  She
slept all night long with no problems in the bedroom with my crew.  I took lots of pictures this am.  As
you can see she is a bit on the chunky side, but I think that can be handled. Enjoy the photo offerings.

She also has not yet had any accidents in the house, has found lots and lots of squeaky toys and is
having a ball with them.  She loves toys, playing fetch, etc. She is also very obedient. She won't be here
long!  She is very young acting for a dog that is supposed to be 7 1/2 years.

9/23/06 - Roxie is a very sweet girl but is just a bit overweight. She definitely needs to exercise out in
the yard with Sam and Rose!   She is an owner surrender along with Bruno as their family was moving
into a new home & did not want the dogs in it.

I tried crating her for bedtime and she is now a wreck!!  She was salivating profusely and still hasn't
calmed down. She is getting better, but is still panting and has had a couple of drinks.  She is beginning
to learn the dog door, is interested in the cats but stops being too nosy when I tell her to. She shakes,
fetches, sits, etc. I haven't had time to work with her yet to see if she is obedience trained. She has
bonded with Fred and was not happy when Rose (puppy) came too near. She has found the toy box
and loves squeaky toys!! She also likes to play fetch and will run and play with Sam and Rose. More
when I get ot know her better.
