2/13/06 - Roxie was adopted!
Roxie has found her forever home and she did not have to go far! Her foster home has decided to
adopt her as they love her & she loves it there with them. Congrats to Roxie & her family!
1/8/05 Roxie's had a couple more lookers, but still no home. Roxie is quite timid of new people
coming into the house, and is afraid enough to growl at new people. I like people to know that up
front, in case it bothers them. She is not very sure of herself, but once she is accustomed to someone
new, she is fine. Despite her small size, she will always be protective of her home, and even though
that is not unusual, it is not for everyone. For example, even though she adores kids, it might be hard
for her to accept their friends coming and going. If you do not often entertain or have kids visiting, it
would not be an issue. She does seem to recognize people she has met before (llike my mom or my
in laws) so that's an advantage. She continues to like other dogs and likes to play.
11/28/2005 Just a quick update for Roxie! She continues to be an easy girl to have here at my house.
She has a BEAUTIFUL coat now, nice and thick. We just love her, she's such a nice dog. She still
loves to chase tennis balls! And the vacuum cleaner is public enemy #1, lol!
11/10/05 Roxie's wondering where her new family is! We've had several "lookers" but no takers yet
for Miss Roxie. Roxie is just an all around great dog. She looks kind of big in her photo above, but
she is not, she is quite petite.I don't think she weighs more than 50 lbs. I will take some more photos
so everyone can see how cute she is!
She is such a happy dog; she likes to play with her tennis ball and is content to just be near us or with
the other dogs. She is not at all hyper, especially for a one year old dog. She is really very gentle and
sweet, we just love her. She's been a super easy dog to have as a foster..
10/19/05 Roxie is back with rescue tonite after a very unfortunate incident with the new home's
kitten. Even though Roxie lived with cats at her original home, an unfamilar cat is a very different
prospect. Because of this, we are listing her as "no cats" now. Since the adopting home still has one
kitten, it was decided that Roxie would be better in a different home. Roxie did wonderfully with the
3 year old child in the home and was very attached to her, and overall she is a really great dog!
I am putting up new photos of Roxie showing her gorgeous new fur. She looks even better today than
when she was adopted a week and half ago! Although she was rather confused to be back here, she
is settling right in and at the moment chasing her favorite tennis ball around the house.
10/7/05 Roxie was adopted!
9/16/05 Hopefully everyone can see Roxies' beautiful new fur in the new photos! She is looking really
good. She has also GROWN! Of course she is only a year old and still has a few more growing
months to go. She is the best little dog. We went away last weekend and my in-laws stayed with our
dogs. Roxie didn't miss a beat, slept up on our bed as usual and was fine with my in-laws even though
she didn't know them very well. I will be scheduling a spay for her soon, and she is nearly ready to
come off medical hold. I've had a couple of people ask if she is a mix...honestly she shouldn't be, she
came with her original pet store paperwork, receipt and even a "pedigree" of sorts, but you know
how pet store dogs arent always what they are supposed to be , so it could be poor breeding or
maybe there was an oops somewhere in there, anything's possible. Except for being a bit calmer than
a year-old boxer, she pretty much acts like a boxer. She plays and boxes and loves attention. She is
very curious, and she loves the other dogs here.
9/6/05 We have FUR! Yay! Just quick note to let everyone know that Roxie's fur is coming in all
over. It's heaviest along her back but there is some fur everywhere. It doesnt photograph well yet.
Thanks for all your support getting her on track. She's eating great and has really filled in, plus her
muscle tone is greatly improved from all that playing.
She loves to play with a ball. She will play all by herself or with one of the other dogs, or preferably
with me. She thinks it's quite funny to roll it around and bat it (usually under something so I have to
retreive it for her). She will play "keep away' with the other dogs. She will drop it in the pool and then
come and find me to fish it out. I fished out four balls the last time, lol.
Roxie is a bit timid with strangers and strange things, but relaxes pretty quickly. She growls at silly
things like a curtain flapping or an odd noise. Once I show her what it is, she's ok. She also growled
when my mom dropped by, but after she sniffed her and relaxed she was all fine and friendly. She is
still so young, she has a lot to learn!
8/21/05 Roxie is doing great here! She loves the other dogs and is just such a nice sweet girl! Her
hair is growing back in along her back, it's sort of peach-fuzzy there now! We have her on a higher
dose of meds for the mange which we are hoping will get it under control once and for all. She will be
on that for about another 6 weeks or so, and then she will have her spay.
She is really a cute girl...she loves to snuggle, sleep on the bed, and play! She certainly doesnt have a
perfect boxer nose, but she has a lovely boxer personality. Her new fur doesnt really show up yet in
photos, but I will post some new photos soon!
8/6/05 Roxie arrived last night thanks to Donna C. Roxie is a cute young fawn girl that is under
treatment for demodex mange. This type of mange is not catchy, it's the "puppy mange". She already
has some hair growing back. We will not be able to spay her until the mange is under control more,
but she is up to date on her shots already.
Roxie is a very sweet and calm boxer for her age. I already have her out with my oldest and youngest
and she has been great with them. She is not looking to roughhouse or to run, but that may change
some as she feels better. She mostly just walks around and checks everything out, and once in awhile
will sniff the other dogs. She seems pretty comfortable around them. She likes to gently come up and
have a hug, and probably has not had too many recently because the yukky mange. She seems to
know quite a few commands. She will sit and immediately give her paw, and she knows down.
Roxie is a great dog, someone lucky family will really adore her!

ROXIE 10/19/05 BEAUTIFUL NEW FUR!
