UPDATE 10/29/06 - Roxanne is doing wonderful!!!  I must say she is a bit of a princess.  I work at a seasonal hotel
and we have been strating close down for the season.  Roxanne has been coming to work with me and has
become our mascott.  She is spoiled rotten with all the attention, and seems to be very happy.  Three weeks ago
we got a cairn terrier puppy that was eight weeks old.  Roxanne has taken to him as if he were her own.  She is
teaching him right from wrong and puts him in his place.  He always wants to play and there are times she tells
him NO!!  Then there are times when she will go over and nudge him with her nose and start playing as if she
were a puppy herself.  After a pretty intense play session they will crash and take a nap on Roxanne's big dog bed.
Roxanne is a dream come true for us, she is the perfect dog for our family.  We were worried that she may not be
happy with us but she became an active part of the family from day one.  We can't imagine our lives without here.
Thank you SCBR...........

UPDATE 9/3/06 - Roxanne is fitting in woderfully, it is as though she has been with us for years.  She is such a little
lady, well not so little, but we're working on that.  She loves to go for walks in the neighborhood, because everyone
oohs and aahs over her.  She is a bit timid with new people on the first meeting, but after a bit really comes out of
her shell.  Roxanne has been to my work several times in the past week and to different family memebers.  The
first time at my parents she was like a toddler and wanted to crawl up in my lap for protection.  The next time we
went over she had the run of the house and made herself very comfortable in the living room next to my dad.  She
really is a sweetheart.
I took her to the beach yesterday for the first time, I think.  She was a little nervous about the sand but when she
saw all the other dogs jumping around and running in and out of the water she couldn't wait to join in.  She loved
the sand, wouldn't try the water on this trip, but that's okay we'll go often and then when and if she is ready she may
enjoy it.  I can't describe how lucky we are that Roxanne has joined our family.  Thank you SCBR for giving us the
chance to care for Roxanne.

8/27/06 - Roxanne has been adopted!

8/14/06 - Roxanne wanted me to drop an update to let everyone know that she is a very good camper. We took her
with us on a nine day camping vacation and she loved it. We saw a side of her that we don't get to see at home
with our Lacey always butting in.(Lacey still can't be around other dogs besides Roxanne)

She was very playful and kept up with us on all our many walks. She was friendly with everyone she met while we
were out and about. She even liked the hayride.

It took awhile to convince her that the water was fun, but she caught on, finally. She was on growl guard when we
were in the cabin. I suspect she felt a need to protect her foster family from the ever encroaching golf carts they use
for transport at the campground.

II really do question her age. She has no gray on her muzzle and is really perky for longer periods than most senior
seniors that we have known.

If you are looking for devotion and humor this is the girl for you.

7/20/06 - Here is one beautiful girl. They gave her age as ten, but we here at her foster home, question that. She
has enough energy to keep up with her 4 year old foster sister. They have finally turned a corner, and are the best
of friends. You never find one without the other, usually with the same toy in their mouths at the same time. They
are a couple of characters.

Roxanne is quite protective of her foster family. She warns us by barking if someone comes to the door. We make
sure to put her behind the gate when we answer the door, just until she can sniff and make sure the intruder is
safe. She warms up really quickly after that and is everyone's best friend.

Roxanne is also very good at reading moods. If my children have crossed the line, she is right by my side to soften
me up before I can wind up to a screaming Mimi act. She is very gentle, loving and obedient with both children and
adults.

It did take her a while to learn basic commands like sit and go to bed, but she has mastered it happily. She does
choose only to sit on a rug when my husband tells her to sit though. It is sooo funny to watch. He holds her food
and says," Sit", and she looks around the kitchen to find the nearest throw rug to place her delicate bottom
on...However when I, "alpha Mom", say sit , sit she does, anywhere. Good little girl.

When we go for walks, people comment on her mellow nature and her beautiful shiny coat. She looks like she has
had a professional highlight, but it is just her thyroid medicine. The cost for her medicine is very low, and well
worth it for all the kisses, hugs and boxer wiggles you will get in return. If you want a loyal, patient forever friend,
send your application right away.

5/7/06 - We have noticed that Roxanne has dropped a few pounds since her meds kicked in. She was outside
most of the day running around like a pup of 7 years. Until today, we didn't know she could run.  LOL

5/3/06 - Roxanne wasn't pregnant, thank God. I can't imagine her going through another pregnancy. The vet was
very informative about what her spay entailed. He said she was so overbred that it took alot longer than usual to do
the spay, and she had quite a bit of bleeding during and after. He checked her blood and found her to be anemic.
When the tech brought her out, the assistants at the desk all baby talked her name. Apparently she made quite an
impression!  Once the meds wore off, she picked up speed and been full of wiggles ever since.

4/26/06 - Roxanne made her sojourn to the vet yesterday, and she is all set up with some thyroid meds. I also had
them do a fecal test and it showed lots of hook worms and whip worms.  The nice doctor also wants to check for
pregnancy before her spay, because she carries around her rubber "puppy" everywhere.
Our vet also said her bald patches will all go away and her coat should look much better as soon as her meds
kick in.  I think she is beautiful either way!
She must have had alot of love somewhere, because she is loving and happy when she meets new people. No
skittish behavior here.

4/24/06 - An update on Roxanne.  We have learned a lot about her in 3 days. She is good with children of all ages.
Right now she barks when we leave her alone in any room.  She doesn't care who her company is as long as she
has some. She is great with our cat, but not so great with our dog Lacey, but I must say, this is not at all Roxanne's
fault as she has been good with all the other dogs she has come in contact with so far.

We are working on her housetraining, but this could be because of the rain. She appears to be a delicate flower.
"Sit" and "down" commands seem to be foreign words to her, but "walk" is sure to get her attention. She loves to
go on walks, and it's a good thing because she needs to lose a few post pregnancy? pounds. She walks
beautifully on her leash, stopping when you stop and never ever pulls, even when our 6 year old walks her.

She is one of the most loving dogs I have ever encountered!  We are very blessed that ROXANNE has decided to
foster US. We will update her health status as soon as she has her physical tomorrow.   I think she may have been
a mom quite often as she has adopted a squeaky toy of Lacey's and carries it everywhere. Whenever it squeaks,
she stops what she is doing and "cleans" her baby....She is sooooo loving!

4/22/06 - Roxanne, Buster & Zeus were all surrendered to a shelter due to their owners being evicted.   Roxanne is
the Mom to Buster & Zeus was her mate.   Updates soon from her foster home.
