10-15-06 - Yes folks! He's Big! He's beautiful! And, He's Back!!! This time Rocky B's original family
knows for good that they needed to give Rocky a chance to be happy in a home that could provide him
with the love and attention he needs. All 100+ lbs of him got here last night and by this morning he was
welcomed back into our clan of four legged friends with tails/ nubs a wagging. He has been nothing but
kisses and love since he got here. He has been an excellent guest and has let us know when he has
needed an outdoor break. True to form as before, he seem to be unaware of his own extra large size,
as he tries to squeeze into the smallest crate to take naps and climbs on laps as if he were a mere 20lbs.
Our family is once again glad to see Rocky as we know he was in great need of SCBR's services. He is
a true gem in personality and is looking for a family that will appreciate him for the little "moose" that he
is. Picture will be on the way, along with an accurate weight some time this week.
9/18/06 - Rocky had a great day here in Downeast Maine. My dogs have gotten used to his size and
have not stopped playing with him since. Rocky has free run of the house when we are home. He
chooses to spend much of his time close to the other dogs, and they are never to far from my feet, so
Rocky is near by. It is clear that Rocky is very comfortable in active households, as mine is one. He
would be great with another dog as a companion, he appears to like the company. Rocky is an all
around great dog that has brought up the energy level of the house by a few notches and it is a great
ride!!
9/17/06 - OK it's official! SCBR has finally branched into other areas of rescues. They claim to have
sent me a dog yesterday, but I tell you I have a mini-horse that weighs close to 100lbs in my livingroom.
LOL Rocky is a gentle giant that, fortunately for those around him, doesn't abuse the obvious strength
he possess. He walks well on the leash, w/o pulling. He is gentle with my dogs, although they are
cautious of his size at the moment (he makes my boxer look like a toy-breed). Rocky has been great
with my son, and doesn't seem to mind when I catch him trying to "hang-on" for a ride.
From what we can see Rocky has little to no recognition of his own name. He also does not appear to
follow any basic commands, rather he sits when he feels like it and sometimes it happens to be when
you want him to. He will however, come to an enthusiastic call. Rocky is reported to be crate trained.
He does need a little nudge, and will whine/ bark once in to seek attention. We are hoping this is just
temporary and will stop as he adjusts.
Rocky's previous owners reported that he likes to play fetch, and in the short time he has been here we
have seen this to be true. Not only does he go to get toys, but in ideal fashion he does retrieve and drop
the them making the game much more fun for the humans involved. Rocky's toy's of preference seem to
be the soft squeaky kind vs. hard and bouncy. There is also a report that Rocky has some experience
with riding skateboards! :)
Rocky is a big lovable oaf. He has lots of love to give and would love a family who will love him back,
and work with his size for both it's strengths and weakness'. Although I do not have picture available
yet, to help put it in perspective, Rocky can rest his chin on my kitchen table with ease while standing
up. Rocky is a unique gentleman both in stature and personality. Something tells me he will not be here
long.
9/16/06 - Rocky is an owner surrender due to divorce. The now single Mom of 4 & 6 year old kids is
having to leave poor Rocky home alone crated at least 12 hours a day (not counting bedtime). As hard
as it was to do, she knew Rocky deserved a home where someone can spend more time with him and
he will not have to be alone so much. He was very well loved & cared for & his Mom was unselfish in
letting him go to find a better situation.
Thank you to all his transport volunteers that spent their time on Saturday to get him into rescue!
Updates & pictures soon from his foster Mom.
