4/7/06 - Remmie has had a great week at her foster home. This week we have had no problems with her and her
foster brother and sisters. She is actually really enjoying them! She is playful and just down right happy. Our son
had adopted a young stray boxer from a local shelter and he had been staying with us. I have a feeling that maybe
he was driving her crazy with all his energy but she is just amazing us this week as he has gone home. We now
have her eating with all the 5 other dogs here and she is doing wonderful. We just watch to make sure she is
done eating before the other dogs go near her. We always pick everyone’s bowl up right away and no
problems. She is a little bit of a talker and will tell you when she wants you to know something.
Remmie loves toys and will play with balls, or with whatever is the hot item of the day. She will sleep sometimes
on the couch with the other dogs or will grab a dog bed if one is open in the kitchen. She gives lots of kisses
and will play at the drop of a hat. Outside, she loves her fenced in yard and will play, run and jump with the others.
We are so surprised at how she has settled this week. She acts like she has been here forever. She is
great in her crate where she enjoys her workday with a peanut butter filled marrow bone. She is perfect as far as
being house broken. She has not had any accidents in the house or crate.
She is a beautiful brindle girl. Her coat just shines. Remmie will make a great addition. We just need to give her
time to become comfortable in her new surroundings. If you want to make this girl happy, think about adopting
her soon. She won’t disappoint you.
4/2/06 - Remmie had to ruin her good record with getting along with the other dogs here, with a fight with Snowie
yesterday and a fight with Peach today. She just can't be trusted with them all of the time and I only wish I could
figure out what triggers it but sometimes I think it is over nothing. So, she will need to be an only dog.
3/20/06 - Remmie is adjusting to life in her foster home. She is beginning to relax a little bit and life is getting
easier for her. She is eating great and loves to play with her foster parents. She especially likes it when her foster
dad gets on the floor to play. It is an instant turn of for her. She gives lots of kisses and seems to really enjoy the
attention.
She has met all of her foster brothers and sisters and does fairly well for a short period of time until she seems to
develop an "attitude". We are trying to get her over this because she at first loves the other dogs and will play very
nice with some of them. We are trying to figure out what trips her trigger. Now tonight, we have her out in general
population and she is doing wonderfully and we are never taking our eyes off of her. We find that if you keep
talking to her, she seems to realize that she has nothing to worry about. It is alot to ask of her to join in with 6
other boxers at the house. She is making great progress. We will keep doing this for short periods of time to
desensitize her. She is dominant but luckily here, no one challenges her so it works for her. We had given her the
spare bedroom suite to give her some much needed space but we have decided tonight that tomorrow she will be
crated in the living room with all the others to help her feel like she is one of the pack. We hope this will
encourage her to become part of the family. She's been here a week now and it is time for her to get over herself.
:)
Remmie is great in her crate when we are at work and loves her peanut butter filled marrow bone. She is quiet in
there and has had no accidents. Remmie loves toys and playing with us but now we will start with other dogs.
Remmie plays alot with her feet so children over 7 or 8 would probably do best with her. She gets so excited that
she forgets to act like a lady. Remmie is beautiful and her coat just shines. She is a very sweet girl who will
become a very dedicated companion. She will be seeing the vet on Friday to get her heartworm test and a
distemper shot. She will be ready to go after that. If she were to go to an only dog home, she would be happy as
long as you included her in the new families life. She wants that more than ever. She wants to please and you will
have a friend for life. She really is a great dog! She just came in from the kitchen area and jumped up on the
couch and is now sleeping with three other dogs. Who can figure these dogs out. So, we are making progress!!!!
3/11/06 - Remmi is the newest guest at the Boxer'In. She is an owner surrender due to an already busy 5 children
household and a new one on the way in just a few days. She is a beautiful reverse brindle girl who is 3 yrs old
with natural ears and a docked tail. She has a white chest and 4 white paws. She was heartbroken last night
when we picked her up and was very nervous and scared. We have been spending alot of time with her today so
that she can realize that she is safe and that everything that has been turned upside down in her life is going to be
okay. She is getting happier but it will take her a little bit to figure things out. It was a beautiful day out today and
her foster dad had to clean his work truck out so she spent alot of time with him outside and was great. He gave
her a sweatshirt to lay on and she certainly took advantage of the warm sunshine.
She lived with 5 children and was better with the 7 and up children than with the baby. So for right now, we are
going with that she needs to be placed with older children. She met out 22 yr old son today and his girlfriend and
was fine at meeting them. At first, she became a little worried but soon warmed right up to them. She has eaten
both meals that we have offered her today so that is a good sign that she is going to do fine here. The other 6
boxers that are here are going to take a little work and we will go slow with introductions. She lived with a male
boxer but showed some dominance with him so we will see what she does when she is the low man on the totem
pole. She has met everyone through a gate today and wiggles her tail a little but there is no hurry for her to meet
them. We will do that as she gets more comfortable. We gave her the spare bedroom suite and loved
sleeping on the spare bed last night. She is quite the lady. She is spayed and just needs a distemper
vaccination and a heartworm check. She will be ready for her new forever home soon. She loves people and
anyone who adopts her will have a faithful friend forever.
