1/22/06 - Pepper was adopted!

1/4/06 - Miss Pepper is doing fine. She has full run of the house and is definitely the boss of the other doggies
here. She gets along with them well but has no problem putting them in line if she feels the need. Pepper is not a
fighter, she simply growls and gives the a "look". My dogs and other foster are great. They don't take her too
seriously, they simply walk away. I would hate for Pepper to do that with the wrong dog and get her butt kicked
though. For that reason if Peppers new home has other dogs they must be submissive or relatively good at
meeting/greeting new dogs so they don't overstep their bounds.

Pep is good with kids and absolutely LOVES men. She gets real excited when she meets men and tries to
smother them with kisses. She did this to a man that was petting her at the vets office and my father. It is quite
funny, she loves everyone but guys make her go bonkers. It is a refreshing change since my other foster is
hesitant when meeting guys.

Pepper was brought up to date on vaccinations and heartworm tested. We are weighing our options regarding
having some lumps and growths on her gums removed. At 10 years old anesthesia/surgery may be worse for her
than leaving them alone. So we will be deciding what to do about that in the near future. We are really enjoying
having Pepper here she is a great old girl.

12/14/05 - Pepper is doing very well here at her foster home. She has met all the canine residents and has been
out with them since Sunday evening. She hit it off instantly with my 3 older dogs who are very experienced with
meeting new fosters. A quick sniff and they go about their business. My 4 month old puppy and 1 year old foster
Diamond took a bit of getting used to. They were trying to entice her to play and were being obnoxious. After a few
warning growls from Pepper all is well. Pepper was used to living with a Lhasa so the big dogs have been a bit of
a change for her.

Pepper sleeps in my room on the dog bed at night. She sleeps well and is ready to get up in the morning. No
sleeping in for this senior girl. This morning I woke up to find her and Antonio curled up together on the dog bed.

She follows me around the house and likes to sit under the desk when I am on the computer. She really likes to be
with people and is very friendly. She keeps a watchful eye on Nathan (my 3 year old) when he takes his bath. It's
funny she stays in the bathroom and doesn't take her eyes off him.

Pepper definitely is not fond of the cold weather we have been having. My sister and I got her a nice warm sweater
today. She seems much happier to be warm when she has to go out. Pepper still has a lot of spunk considering
her age. She has begum to chew on marrow bones a bit and all you have to do is say her name and her nub
wiggles like crazy. She is a very happy, easy going girl.

12/10/05 - Pepper arrived this morning and was a great passenger. She was perfectly well behaved in the truck
and looked out the window like a human. We were greeted with Boxer Wiggles when we met her at the shelter.
She is a very friendly girl. Pepper is a petite dark brindle with some white, cropped ears, docked tail and the cutest
little face! Her pictures make her look much more gray than she actually is.

Pepper is settling in nicely. She hasn't officially met the other canine residents yet but is great with all the humans
including my 10 and 3 year old children. She is very good about being crated although I really don't think she will
need to be once introductions are over. She ate a good dinner but opted to pick around the fresh steamed
vegetables that were added to her kibble. I got a laugh out of that as the others eat their veggies first.

Pepper seems pretty active considering her age and is in good shape. A few small bumps to be checked out
(likely just skin tags at her age). My daughter started calling her Peppermint, she says it is a much more fitting
name since she is so sweet! I have to agree. I know Pepper hasn't been here long but we love her already. She is
going to be a very special addition to your home.

12/9/05 - I'm going to pick Pepper up from one of our favorite shelters tomorrow. Sadly, she was turned in by her
owner yesterday who is in the military. His family refused to watch her for him while he is away. She is so scared
and nervous she is shaking. Even though her life has been turned upside down her true boxer spirit is showing as
she is very friendly and affectionate.      Update and pictures coming soon......
