UPDATE 12/1/06 - I cannot believe how lucky we have been to have had 2 great dogs, Our past rescued Senior, died in Aug and we adopted Oscar end of OCT. Oscar is different from Buddy in many ways, but greatly enriches our lives in his own way. I really was very nervous to adopt, but Oscar really has adapted very quickly to our routine and is vibrant, strong and energetic, He really gets us moving. Our vet has treated him for some ear mites, and eye irritation, but he checked out just fine at 83 lbs, We will check his weight again in April, but at least he did gain any. I found he nibbles on everything outside, twigs, grass, plants, After a romp in an open field, he came home last weekend & hypersalivated for 6 hrs, I am thinking he may have eaten mushrooms, it is something I will have to be vigilant with. He was groomed and nails clipped 2 wks ago, and everyone there just loved him, so well behaved, he got an A+ on his reportcard.  He slept with us for the first few weeks, but now seems to prefer his own bed in our room. This probably is a good thing as I did not have the heart to toss him out, but I had 5% of the bed, Oscar had 90%, and my husband slept in the other room!  He also whimpered, whined, barked for a few weeks, but now has settled into his routine, and does not seem to need to cry to communicate any more,we are starting to understand each other and he is very smart and very sweet.  He tries so hard not to do anything wrong, and Oh my that tounge !!   By the way I still need my 2nd chance boxer tag, I am the one that recieved an empty envelope with NO TAG.  Hope to start dog training 12/6/06

Oscar has been adopted!

Oscar's adventures here have been great, he has his favorite spot  on the couch, his favorite bowl to eat out of and he is a happy go lucky kind of  dog! He loves to run in the yard and he plays with the puppy when outside, they  play chase and believe me Oscar is one quick 8 yr old!  When in the house he loves to have his belly rubbed and will let you know when he wants this  by walking over your feet see i usually cross my legs and rub him with my foot, he loves it and cant get enough  lol!  Oscar is an awesome  senior and deserves someone to call his own instead of being in limbo in a  foster home.  Dont get me wrong he is loved here and more than welcome to  stay but I think he needs a home of his own.  See we have a total of 5 dogs here  and he just doesn't get enough attention, I try to spread out the loving but it  just doesn't seem to be quite enough if you know what I mean.  Oscar is not  a barker so it will be a quiet household with him around so please make room in  your heart and home
for Oscar he'll love you forever!

Oscar here, waiting patiently for you to call about me.  Every time the phone rings I pray it is for me.  Even though I am very loved hear with my foster mom I want a home I can call my own!  I love my ears rubbed and my tummy too, I don't play with toys too much but sometimes I play with my dog food mom says it's funny to watch.  All I know is it is fun!  I flip it up in the air and roll it around a bit it's totally fun, you have to see it so hurry and call for me i love to snuggle and i sleep with my tongue sticking out. Life would not be boring with me around!

8/27/06 - Oscar is doing well, not much to say really it's the same ole same ole , he has his routine and plays with the other dogs and toys every now and then. He is a very loveable dog and a big snuggle bunny. He loves kids and was very depressed when my son went back to North Carolina. So I had to give him extra attention for awhile just to help him get through it! LOL All in all he is a wonderful dog that deserves a wonderful home!

7/23/06 -
Oscar is a big clown he loves to be goofy and play around.  He just now is starting to realize what stuffed squeeky toys are, it's hilarious!  He also is a grandpa to the puppy here that is funny all on it's own.  Sometimes he'll play other times he puts the pup in his place!  lol!  Oscar is a good dog he loves to run in the yard I think he is faster than all the dogs and he is 8, now that's amazing but true!  My step son wants to adopt him  cause Oscar follows him everywhere and is always on the couch with him no matter how much room there might be!  Oscar deserves a good home , even though he has it made in the shade here he needs a home of his own.

6/30/06 -
Oscar is a very playful 8 yr old!  He loves to play with the kids and is constantly following my son around.  He also loves to lay in his lap and sleep the evening away.  When he is in a deep sleep his tongue sticks  out
about an inch, it is too comical!  He is a good boy and has tolerance for the puppy here.  He will play with the puppy who is only 14 weeks old but he doesn't mind, they play tug of war and ruff house each other .  He is very  gentle
with him and the puppy just abuses him and he doesn't care..  I think Oscar would be a great addition to any home and is getting a bumm rap  because of his age, well don't let that fool ya he still has plenty of energy  and life in him
so consider Oscar as your new family  member!

5/7/06-
Oscar has been here for a week now and is doing great!  He already has his favorite spot on the couch and loves to snuggle.  He also is a licky-face dog, you wont need to bath with this one around!  Oscar has been through alot, he was neutered and had some teeth pulled so he has no front teeth , poor boy.  He has this cute little tongue sticking out thing he does that melts your heart.  I felt bad for him at first cause he was having a hard time adjusting to the missing teeth but he is doing good with it now.  Oscar loves to run and play in the yard and seems fine with the other dogs in the house, only one incident but nothing serious and it wasnt his fault!  So if your looking for a senior companion consider Oscar he'll love for years to come!
