6/5/06 - Molly made it into rescue yesterday and spent the day bonding with me doing my Sunday
errands.  She was very nervous at first and shook when she met me, but after a few stops & loving talk
& petting, she came around (well, the pieces of bagel & cream cheese didn't hurt either!).  By the end
of the afternoon she was all wiggles for me when I would call her name!  :)

Molly is such a sweet little girl and very cute!   That tongue that sticks out of the side of her mouth most
of the time just cracks me up!   It adds such character to her, not that this sweetie needs it.   Molly met
my cats yesterday without any incidents at all & will be perfectly fine to live with cats.  She went into
her crate for bedtime last night (no room on the bed for another one!) & she was great in there, not a
peep or complaint from her. She met my male & female older boxers today & everyone is getting along
fine.  She definitely is not dominant in the dog pack as she immediately had no problem bowing down
to either of them.

As you know, there are not many "perfect" dogs (or people!) out there & here is some more info on
Molly's quirk that makes her need a certain type of home.  Her last Dad told me that she was
wonderful on walks in the neighborhood, loved everyone & all dogs met.  She was also great with the
invisible fence they put up for her & anyone could walk into their yard & dogs too & again Molly had
no problems & welcomed everyone.  Her issue is when she is in the house & the doorbell rings(even on
the T.V.) or there is a knock on the door.  She gets highly protective & is difficult to handle at these
times as she is so focused on protecting her home.   He said she does this if the family was in the house
or not, so it is protection of her space, not necessarily her family.  Molly would also go crazy if she saw
someone walk by the house when she was inside and also would do this at times when in the car &
someone talks to them (ex: toll booth).   They tried many ways to make things better without luck, this
is a strong part of Molly's personality.  With their kids & active home with people coming & going a lot,
it just was not something that was good for Molly or them.  Boxers are naturally a protective breed and
come with varying degrees & things that cause them to go on alert.

So, what kind of home would be perfect for Molly?  She would do very well to have another dog to
keep her company & help her confidence.  She also needs a "quieter" type home without lots of visitors
coming & going.  No apartment, condo or big city type settings where she would have to be on alert all
the time either.  Though she loves kids, with that there is often a lot of friends visiting too, so that would
just be too much for her.  If your home fits Molly's needs & you think she would be happy with you,
please hurry as this cutie is ready to settle down in her new home.

6/1/06 - Molly's family is very sad to have to surrender her to rescue to find her a different type of
home.  She will be coming in on Sunday.  Their house is just too active for Molly and she feels she
needs to protect their home, which is hard with lots of people and kids coming and going a lot.  Molly is
said to LOVE the children, but we will be looking for a quieter type of home this time for Molly.  More
updates & new pictures soon.

UPDATE 11/18/05 - It's been about a month and Molly is adjusting very well, she had a transition
period crying all night, pooping on the floor, barking alot.  Now she lets us know when she has to go
out & she only barks if the door bell rings or if someone is near our house, she could just be protecting
us.  She is developing a great relationship with all of us, she just loves being with our boys!  She gets
soooooo excited when they come home from school.  We starting working on her training right away
and thats going well, she gets plenty of exercise, and looks forward to daily walks when John comes
home.
We took Molly to the vet on 11-8-05 he said she's beautiful and very healthy, she weighs 55 lbs.  We
finished the medication we were given for Molly without a problem.  She's becoming affectionate now
she lays on the floor with us and will sit and sleep with us.  She not so nervous now with new people,
we say a friend, be easy and she's doing great!  She sleeps in one of our rooms in her bed, & is only in
the crate when we leave.  We love having Molly as part of our family!  she will be very happy here!
please call or come by at any time.

10/15/05 - Molly has been adopted!

10/9/05 Molly came in last week as an owner surrender to our local shelter. Her original owners were
elderly and no longer able to care for her for health reasons. Molly is a typical year old boxer, full of
energy and still unsure of strange things and people. Molly is a bit hand and head shy, so we just use
slow and gentle gestures around her. She has already come a long way in just a few days. She is a
beautiful dog, all long legs and soft puppy fur. She is a tall dog and will be a pretty good sized gal when
she is full grown and filled out. She runs like a gazelle and even my big, very fast male cannot really
catch her. They love to race in the fenced yard!

Molly was out and happily playing and rough-housing with my three male boxer all day yesterday. She
also slept on the bed with my husband while I was away for the Blast Friday night. She is  really sweet.
She barked at me wehn I got home, but was fine once she recognized me. A home considering to
adopt Molly will have to keep her nervousness in mind and let her go slow meeting new people.

Molly will need a home that is prepared for a puppy... she needs a lot of exercise and and a whole lot
of gentle and consistent training. I do not think she got appropriate exercise from her last home, and she
is just a bundle of energy. She just needs an the right outlet for it.
