UPDATE 4/23/07 - Hello everyone. Max here. I am doing just GREAT. I love my forever home and
forever mom and dad. I can't forget to mention my 'brother' Maximus and 'sister' Sadie ( scbr adoptee
August 2005); I love these guys. We play, run, have many toys and comfy places to sleep and nap. I
am the alarm clock in the house. I know exactly what time dinner should be: 5:24 pm.!!! I love the great
homemade dog food my mom makes for us. YUMMY. I get alot of exercise in our 1+ acre fenced in
yard. My health is good. I am still the fastest runner and I'm the oldest of us 3. Sadie tries really, really
hard to catch me, but I just won't let her. My legs are long and I'm just fast and sleek!! Love and
blessings to everyone at scbr, Max
UPDATE 1/27/07 - Hello everybody, Max has adjusted so well to our home and what love and joy
he brings to everyonne. Our 2 grandchildren love him and he is so good with them. His brother
Maximus and sister Sadie ( scbr adoptee august 05)have all adjusted too. Max follows Sadie's rules,
but sometimes he has the last word!! He runs faster than all of them and Sadie hopes someday she can
catch up to him. Max plays with toys now, and there are plenty of them around. When he wants
attention he makes the cutest little sounds and wiggles and shakes like we have never seen. He loves all
of his foods and the treats too. Max's health is good, no problems. They all have hand made bandanas.
Max has the American flag. Sadie has a Valentine one and Maximus has Spiderman. They each have
their own warm coat for the cold Maine weather. Max doesn't really like the cold, he does his business
fast to get back in the warm house. Max is done his obedience training, did very well and was a fast
learner. We will frame his certificate and proudly display our boy's achievement. We love him and we
really think he loves his forever home.
Thank you SCBR for all you do and God Bless
UPDATE 12/27/06 - Hello everyone, Max is doing absolutely great!! He is so well behaved and
adjusting very, very well to our home and his new brother Maximus and new sister Sadie. Max is still
the peacekeeper of the 2 of them, but has started to accept that Maximus and Sadie can play a loud
tug-o-war game and it is okay.
He loves his freedom in our 1+ acre of fenced in yard. He is the fastest runner by far. He will actually
play a chase game with Sadie and she just never catches him.You can tell by his big grin he is rather
proud of himself. Sadie is 3 and Max is 7. His age has definitely not slowed him down. He loves our
grandchildren and is very, very good with everyone. He LOVES being on the furniture and has learned
the comforts- as only a Boxer can- of a soft place to lay down and take a long well deserved nap.
Max went to his first obedience class on 12-22 and we go again on Friday the 29th. He was nervous,
but well behaved and will do fine in the class. He is the 'senoir' member of the class.
We love him and her certainly shows his love for us.
Thanks to all at SCBR for the love and time you give to all our beautiful Boxers,
UPDATE 11/28/06 - It already seems like Max has been with us all his life! He has fit right in with his
new parents, and with his new brother Maximus, and sister Sadie (SCBR adoptee August 2005). His
history says that he is reluctant to get up on furniture; well, we can definitively say he is over that! Few
dogs can get more comfortable on a sofa than a Boxer, and Max is a real pro at it, just like Maximus
and Sadie. He also loves his new yard to run and play in; it is completely fenced in, and is about an
acre and a half. We call our place Boxer Ranch. He has an assortment of squeaky toys and frisbees
that he loves to play with and chase around. He acts far more like a two-year-old Boxer than a
seven-year-old, but I think his being with our Boxer goofballs Maximus (age 2) and Sadie (age 3) are
influencing him in that area. All in all I don't think Max, or us, could be any happier.
10/27/06 - Max has been adopted!
10/04/06 - Well, a big sigh of relief for Max. His biopsy on his "blueberry" was benign. The vet said it
needs to be watched to be sure it doesn't return, but they feel that they removed it all.
The nice Dr. said that Max had to wear his lampshade collar for ten days. Poor Max did not even make
it for 2 hours after he got home. It absolutely terrified him everytime he bumped into anything, so we
took it off. He did great. Max never even touched his incision.
He truly is one of the best dogs going. When outside he always responds by command. Inside, he still
prefers to stay off the furniture. The closest he has come to getting on it is when he climbs up to give
you a hug, and hugs are plentiful from this guy.
He is totally housetrained, and whines and wiggles and woofs when the need to go out strikes. He
warns when someone is at the door, but is always friendly the minute the door opens.
Max would do great in a home with or without other dogs and absolutely loves kids. He is very
tolerant of the crate, but has never needed it, even when left alone.
He tends to be a peacemaker around here. When our other dog, Lacey, or our children are getting a
talking to, he is quick to try and play with the offending party to avert the grumpy mother... He
succeeds most of the time. Please consider Max, he will bring lots of joy and love to any home.
9/22/06 - Hi everyone, Max had his blueberry removed yesterday. They are having it biopsied, and will
get back to us with the results. Everyone send up prayers that it is benign. This guy is a real keeper.
He still has not even attempted to get on any furniture, even when his foster sister Lacey makes herself
quite at home on anything that will hold her. He also has gotten better with our cat as well. He is a
very loyal companion and likes to be with you alot, but not a velcro dog. The same room is usually
close enough.
I hope to get some better pictures of him up this weekend. He has the most beautiful coat. People tell
us so when they see him.
He loves all people and has been great with the all the dogs he comes in contact with. Like I said, he's a
real keeper.
9/18/06 - Max is doing great. The blueberry looking lump on his face is scheduled to come off on
Thursday. He is really a perfect guy. I have been so blessed with both of our fosters. He preferred the
males at our house at first, now he follows me from room to room. He asks to go out, and lets me
know when my bedtime is every night
9/3/06 - Max arrived at his new foster home yesterday. He is quite a gentleman so far. He had one
poop accident right after he came in the house, but not so much as a dribble in the 24 hours since.
He just loves our skin boys and my husband. He will settle for me when they are busy, but he really
does love male company.
I took him for a walk yesterday, and he does pull a bit on his lead. I think with some coaxing he will
learn to walk nicely. He knows sit and no( I learned this when he decided to make my cat a chew toy).
He started to chase her later and I said "no Max" and he stopped immediately and ran over to me full of
submissive cuteness.
He slept on the floor of our bedroom all night without a peep and woke up after we did with lots of
wiggles and kisses. He has not whined much at all today, and seems to be settling in nicely.
He's not dominant but he isn't any pushover either. He will play with Lacey only until she tries to put her
leg over him. He then gives a warning snarl and she actually backs down. I have never seen her back
down before.
He doesn't want to share his toys or water bowl with cats or dogs but would love to share food with
people.
He hasn't so much as tried to climb on our furniture and went into the crate when asked. No barking at
people that knock on the door, just lots of kisses for company.
He has the most beautiful brindle coat, and it seems he was well cared for and loved by someone. If
you want a gorgeous and well behaved boy that loves to play only when asked, Max is definitely your
guy!
8/28/06 - Max arrived last night thanks to Beth & Chris for picking him & his sister Sadie up on their
way home from vacation. They both just turned 7 years old in early July and were surrendered by their
owner to find new homes. They do not need to go to the same home, but if you have room for two
then this is a great pair for you! More info & pictures soon!
