UPDATE 10/11/06 - Lenny is still a challenge. Headstrong beyond belief. He recently completed an obediance
course at the Barking Dog in Exeter, NH. This has helped a lot with his self-control. He has a very dominant
personality and this was causing him to fight with his brother Mike our 4yr old boxer.
He has learned to ride in his crate when driving. This is a terrific accomplishment. This was necessary after he
broke 2 windows in my car trying to get out and see what I doing! No injury thank goodness.
Lenny has energy beyond belief. We make sure he gets a lot of exercise to help him be a good citizen.
Lenny is happy and loving here in his forever home. Thanks to all of you for giving us this very special boy.
UPDATE 5/15/06 - Lenny (fka Lucky) is extremely happy and a welcomed addition to ourfamily. He is quite a
challenge. He's at the defiant age. He tries toget away with stuff all the time. He still plays the catch me if you
can game. He gets very little time off leash except when we're in Maine. We're trying to learn 'come' when off
leash. He's starting to get it. He keeps us on our toes. He and Mike get a long famously. Sadly, I gave up on crate
training because his hysteria was too much forme to bear. Fortunately, he and Mike can be left alone with out
incident.
He is a gorgeous young brindle boy! I've never seen a brindle so handsome. He weighs about 64 pounds now
which is up from the 55 he was when we got him. He has filled in beautifully. I think we have a couple more hard
months of training but I'm certain he will end up being an obedient boy!
He comes to work with me every day. He is an angel in the office. Everyone loves him of course. Just as when I
rescued Mike, I can't imagine a day without Lenny. Thanks to all of you,
UPDATE 3/6/06 - Just a quick update on Lenny (formerly Lucky). He is WONDERFUL! He loves his new brother
Mike and his new life full of love and adventure. This weekend he went snowmobiling for the first time. He and Mike
have a special enclosed tow-behind sled. He loved it. He is in obedience class at Petsmart. The trainer Marcia is
very good. It's the standard 8 wk class. He's had 2 classes so far and he's headstrong but he's getting it. Still
working on crate training. He eats in his crate no problem. We did that for a week and this week we'll try closing
him in for short periods of time to see how he does. Thanks to you all. He's the best!
2/14/06 - Lucky has been adopted!
1/23/06 - Lucky arrived on Sunday afternoon and he is the HAPPIEST boxer boy ever! He is an owner surrender
that lived with 6 kids of all ages and was great with them. He has settled in nicely and seems to have no dog
issues of any kind as he is able to see and smell, nose to nose, my crew over a fence (it's an open x-pen,
stretched out flat) that cuts my dining room almost in half-he has one side, living room and dining room and my
crew has the other side-all are happy as clams. Lucky has the best boxer wiggle I have ever seen, he literally goes
hundreds of miles an hour-I don't know how it's even possible to wiggle that fast!! And you get that wiggle if you
just speak to him! He is sucking up the human and canine contact and enjoying every single minute of it. He goes
into his crate without a problem and will settle down, but he isn't happy about it and whines a bit every little while
just to see if he can convince you to let him out :) My son Ryan comes home at lunch every day and said that Lucky
was barking when he came into the house but he of course, isn't sure if he started when he heard him come in or
if he had been doing that all along. Reportedly, Lucky is not house-trained at this point, but it appears that he just
needs a consistent schedule and that won't be an issue for long. He has started to let me know that he has to go
by whining a bit, so that's an excellent start, but he did dirty his crate today and then, smart boy, pulled the blanket
that
was covering the crate into it to lay down on-he's not a stupid dog, he did it, but he sure isn't going to lay in it, LOL!!!
Tomorrow, no blanket and we will see what happens :) Lucky is wonderful on leash, no pulling and he does what
he needs to, asap-no lollygagging around for this boy. He does feel the need to mark every tree and leaf and blade
of grass, but after his neutering, that should diminish. Lucky is a very sweet boy who just needs a little TLC and a
bit of training and he will be good to go! Did I mention how very handsome this guy is!!!! VERY handsome! He is a
classic brindle with a pretty white chest and lovely natural ears that are sooooooo soft. Great boy!
