9/5/06 - Louise has been spayed & cleared to be adopted now.  She will need to stay on her ivermectin for another
month (we will send with her) to make sure the demodex mites stay away.   Louise will definitely need a home
without cats as we have found out that she is very cat obsessive and is not wanting to just "play" with them.  Are you
the home Louise has been waiting for?

7/12/06 - I am very happy to report that Louise went to the vet yesterday and has been cleared for normal activity. It
has been six weeks since her last heartworm treatment and her heart and lungs sound good. She still needs to
continue to be treated for mange because the vet found a couple of mites but she has grown back almost all of her
fur. She looks and feels so much better. Louise will finally be able to play with the toys and run and jump again just
like a young boxer is supposed to.

6/26/06 - Louise is making so much progress. She has had her last heartworm treatment. She should be okayed
for normal activity after her follow up appointment on July 11. She is being treated for her mange now and just
needs to be spayed. I cannot imagine any other dog being as well behaved or as accepting of the restrictions as
Louise. She has to be in or crate all the time because too much activity while she is being treated for the
heartworm could kill her. Most dogs would be going crazy but Louise is just happy to get a little love when she is
out. She does try to charm me when it is time to go back in her crate by looking at me and smiling and putting her
paw out. If that doesn't work she gives little kisses as if to say "Please don't put me back in the crate. I promise I
will be good" Whoever is lucky enough to adopt Louise will get an amazing friend. She is so eager to please and
just really wants someone to love her. I am so excited for her now that she is almost done her treatment because
she will finally get a chance to be someone's pet and I can tell that is what she wants more than anything. Are you
the family that is meant to show Louise what love is.

5/19/06 - I know everyone wants to hear how Louise is doing with her treatment but I think I will start by telling you
what Louise is like. She is the sweetest most cuddly happy girl I have fostered in quite a while. She had her first
heartworm treatment at the beginning of May and since then has had to be crated almost all the time. During
heartworm treatment any excitement can be deadly. This would make most dogs miserable but Louise is just as
happy as can be. I give her Kongs filled with peanut butter or cheese and she spends hours working to get it out. At
first I was having my son take her out for walks but now I take her because just the sight of my son was getting her
too excited. She is  wonderful with the other dogs but because she cannot play right now we have to keep her
separated but sometimes I catch her and my other foster Gulliver kissing each other through the holes in her crate.
She loves toys and has a special fondness for the stuffed animals. she likes to carry them around in her mouth
and would love to play fetch if I let her. She is also very smart and has already learned to sit on command. The
housebreaking is coming along wonderfully. She has not had an accident in the house in a couple of weeks. This
maybe because she is on a leash whenever she is not in her crate so she may need further instruction when she
is finally free to roam the house on her own but I think she has the general idea. Louise is so wonderful and
definately deserves a chance at a real home after she is well.

Now for her medical update. She has been tested twice for the mites that cause mange and none were found
either time. Hopefully the dips they gave her at the shelter worked and she won't need further treatment for mange.
Her fur is growing back and she looks so much better. She is almost completely covered with short fuzz. If the
mange needs further treatment that will have to wait until after she is through with the heartworm treatments. She
goes back to the vets on May 30th and will stay over night so they can give her another heartworm treatment.
Hopefully that will be the last one. Then she will need to be kept quite for one more month before she is ready to be
spayed. Thank you everyone who has donated to her care she is so very deserving!

4/16/06 - Louise has arrived from Louisiana and she is wonderful. She really needs some love and care before
she will be ready for a forever home. Louise has heartworm and demodectic mange. Most of her hair is missing
due to the mange but it is easy to tell that when her hair grows back she will be a beautiful girl. Keep checking in
on her transformation in the coming weeks and watch her bloom!
