11/13/06 - Lilly came back to rescue on Friday after almost a year in her new home due to a divorce & change in
living situation.  Unfortunately Lilly was not socialized well before she came into rescue the first time & she is very
nervous around high activity.  Her new home did try very hard to socialize her after they adopted her, but it appears
it is just part of Lilly's personality.  Her Mom had to move to an apartment in the city & the neighborhood was very
busy with people, cars, lots of dogs & other loud noises.  This was just too much on Lilly's nerves & she would
take it out on her boxer brother & was on alert if anyone came to the door too.

Lilly is a very cute little white girl that was well loved & cared for by her last home.  She is full of wiggles & a very
happy girl with me & she loves to go for car rides!  She has met my 2 cats & was curious & did take chase when
one ran, but she was not trying to hurt him.  I will work with her more with my cats to see how she does with them.
Lilly is also house trained & great in her crate when you are not home (she actually likes going in it when the door
is left open!).  I have seen her get snappy with my dogs when she is in her crate & they walk by her when she has a
few left over kibbles of dinner in her crate.  We do feel Lilly needs to be an only dog in her next home & in a more
quiet type of a setting & a home without lots of visitors coming & going (ex: no apartments, condos, homes in big
cities).   She also would not do well where she has to be walked with lots of dogs around.  So a nice country type
setting would be her dream spot! :)   She does love people & kids, but can be a little nervous at first when meeting
someone new & she will shake.  Well, not all of us are social butterflies either & do not like crowds, Lilly just needs
a home that agrees with her or does not try to expose her to those situations unnecessarily.   Are you the right type
of home Lilly needs?  If so, hurry & ask for this sweetie, she's a great catch & ready to go home now!

UPDATE 6/20/06 - Lilly is only in the crate when we are at school/work, she no longer sleeps in the crate at night,
but rather right along side me in bed. She MUST be touching me at every moment, if I roll over; she inches over to
be closer.  This results in Lilly usually having 3/4 of a queen size bed, but that's ok.  Lilly has really gotten confident
at home, she hardly growls at all anymore, guests can come and go, my parents can now look at her and greet her
when they come over without her running to hide behind me.  On walks or in the community she is still nervous,
looking over her shoulder, jumping away from "scary" sites and sounds, but we work on this daily, and I do see
progress.  She has decided that my yard was not quite right, and that it needed a few holes in it, very deep holes
mind you.  These holes serve a great purpose as she can wrestle her 10 month old brother, Diesel, into the hole,
on his back and leave him there, with all 4 feet flailing in the air, he then cries and I have to go out and save him, it
is quite funny.  She and Diesel are doing very well together; she is usually patient with him, as he can be quite a
busy guy.  Occasionally, there is an interaction that sounds pretty rough, but they both respond well to me
asserting myself and making them both lay down, yes I have been watching Cesar Milan too.  My 16 year old
daughter, Amanda, has found her best friend in Lilly, they snuggle and talk, Lilly comforts her when those teenage
heartaches occur.  Amanda started calling Lilly “Bellaâ€, it has now transformed into Lillibelle.  I can always
count on Lilly to scare away the pack of bays trying to hang around my front yard.  Lilly’s best trick is her high
jump.  When she wants to come in she stands on the deck in front of the sliding glass door and prances at lease
4-41/2 feet off of the deck, it is amazing to watch, guests are always amazed.  Of course, Diesel has not yet learned
to stay clear of the landing strip and frequently gets stomped as gravity takes over, but he is none the worse for
wear.  For the time being I have stopped bringing Lilly to work with me, it pushed her too far past her comfort zone.
My home went from being a calm retreat to a busy crazy place with dogs (Diesel) counter surfing, stealing things,
and gates barring the way to every room.  Lilly is definitely the boss, but I keep wondering what will happen as
Diesel matures and calms down (PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE).  I wouldn’t trade it for the world.  I am planning
their first trip, with Nora’s encouragement; we will be attending Pet Fest, and the Annual Maine Picnic.  I love
puppies!!!!

UPDATE 1/23/06 - Hi!  this is Lilly's 1 month update.  I am not sure how else to say it but Lilly is the most wonderful
dog.  She is doing so well in our home, loves the kids.  She and Diesel (now 5 months) are inseparable.  They
spend all their time together and when I separate them for training, Diesel cries until reunited with his big sis.  The
love to wrestle and spend lots of time playing.  they both have occasional scratches from each others teeth usually
on a hind leg.  We no longer let them wear collars int he house in order to avoid any injury.  They usually sleep side
by side or on top of one another with mommy stuck somewhere in the middle of the pile.  Lilly was supposed to
teach her well behaved manners to Diesel, instead he has taught her to whine in the crate, so cute.  Diesel is
starting to challenge Lilly for dominance, I am sure he will be top dog shortly as he is almost her size now.  She
usually is submissive to him, quickly rolling over or laying down.  There have been a few scuffles,  just growls and
snarls.  I didn't think he'd show dominance so young.  he goes in for is spaying in 2 weeks.  then is is on to training
for them both at the Springfield SPCA.  they will be doing clicker training with Marnie, Diesel has already been
through her puppy class quite successfully.  I have introduced the clicker to Lilly, she responds quite well to it, and
as Nora (thank you so much for being her foster mom) indicated is definitely food motivated.  The most exciting
thing is that Lilly has made the first trip into my program to met the kids that live there. What a great experience.
She was a bit nervous at first.  I had told the kids to play with Diesel (the old pro) and to let Lilly approach them
versus approaching her.  Well after she sat there watching Diesel soak up all this love she ventured over the the
girls, but seemed to want me close.  She got some love and lots of pets but was not up to the playing that Diesel
did.  The girls got so wrapped up in how Lilly's story mirrored theirs with losing family, being in foster care, and lots
of adjustments and new people.  I was SOOOOO proud of Lilly.  The kids really related to her.  There was no
growls, just a few low rumbles.  I told the kids she was rumbly in her tumbly like Winnie the Pooh,  it was wonderful
to see these kids who have been through so much trauma and pain trust this dog and offer her reassurance.  Talk
about therapeutic.  I pray everything continues to go this well and that Lilly is as happy as we are.
PS, my family is French Canadian on my side (very fair skinned) and Puerto Rican on my husbands side.  Our 10
yr old has decided that Diesel (fawn) is Puerto Rican and Lilly (white) is French.  Is that funny or what??

UPDATE 12/27/05 - Well we made it through Christmas!!! Lilly loved the festivities, she continues to be a dream.
She has gained a lot of confidence and is hardly growling at all.  She is quite the watch dog and warns all of
approaching visitors.  She loves the backyard; she and Diesel will play outdoors for hours when it is sunny and
warm.  We haven't seen any of the hives that were a concern in foster care yet.  She got a Good Cuz for Christmas
and loved it until she saw Diesel's Bad Cuz, now she just goes after which ever one the little guy has and he
chases her around for a glimpse of a toy.  They are non-stop energy and a whole lot of fun.  She is learning about
not going on Mom and Dad's bed (Dad said something about Lilly hair up his node during the night?!?) but loves
to snuggle with the kids in bed.  Her favorite game is to barge into the room of the sleeping 15 year old at 6 am and
jump on hte bed as if to say I'm here now, let the fun begin!!! She doesn't even mind the 15 year olds  screams of
protest.  She is the 10 year olds best freind, they play alot and snuggle on the couch when they are tired out.  Lilly is
the best, we are blessed.

UPDATE 12/21/05 - Hi, I made the required call after Lilly's first week with us, thought I'd send along the e-mail
too.  Lilly is a love.  She had 1 accident in the house when she met my husband, I guess meeting your new Dad is
a big thing in a girl's life.  Other than that, she has been perfect with the bell.  She is teaching my 4 month old how
to use a bell, and is really having a positive effect on his house training as well.  She sleeps all night without a
whimper as long as she and Diesel are right beside each other in their cages.  She is sweet with the kids, no
jumping at all, although my 5 yr old grandson is not quite sure about her yet.  The first few days there was lots of
growling whenever she was unsure, as her confidence has built her growling has lessened.  She has been on a
few trips to the store (Pet Supply Plus) 1st time there was growling and she backed away from people, but no
aggression at all.  The second trip was growl free and she went right up to people following Diesel 's lead.  This
week will be her big test as she comes to my program to meet the kids I work with.  I think she'll do well with
Diesel along as the example of how fun 16 teenage girls can be.  Her first trip to the park was in the first couple of
days, and she was still growling.  She met 2 wonderful women who love dogs and took the time to let her get used
to them, her curiosity got the best of her and she wanted to get in on all the loving Diesel was getting and she
hesitantly approached them and within a few seconds was giving those yummy Boxer kisses.  We'll keep taking it
slow and try to ensure she continues to have positive encounters with people and fun outings.  Lilly and Diesel are
a match made in heaven, the play till they're both ready to drop then curl up with Mom for a nap.  Lilly is enjoying
(read using) the fact that she is 6 months older than Diesel and three times as agile to outrun him on the stairs,
hop the couch, and basically do everything he can not yet  accomplish, but two little whimpers from him and she
runs back to
e sure he's okay and the play resumes.  I keep warning her he'll be bigger than her in no time, so watch out Lilly!
So far life is interesting, noisy and twice the fun with the 2 of them, now if I only make it through Christmas.

12/10/05 - Lilly has been adopted!

11/28/05 What a GREAT pup! I cannot say enough nice things about this little girl, she is a sweetheart! I don't think
I've ever had a foster of this young age that could pee and poop on command. It's pretty impressive, especially
since my own dogs prefer to lallygag around and take their time, lol. She is just a bundle of puppy, she likes to
play, tease, cuddle with us in the chair...plus she crates great and like the other dogs. Someone is going to very
lucky!

11/21/05 I met Julie in Portland last night to pick up and complete a long transport. Lilly was a real sport about
riding around in the car all day while the other dogs were collected to complete the NJ-ME run!
What a sweetheart she is..just a cute young boxer girl. She's a nice size for her age and has a "feminine" build,
and a pretty little face! Lilly has one brown and one brown
and blue eye, very unique!  Lilly is completely crate-
trained and did well with my two gentle boxer boys. Tonite she'll meet the "big guy" (my dominant male) and my
female foster. I'm sure she will do fine, she has lovely dog-dog manners so far.Since Lilly is only 9-10 months old,
she needs a home where she will get a lot of exercise, and preferably where there is another dog to play with. She
has always lived in a two-dog home. Sone family is going to be very lucky to be able to call this sweetie their own
boxer girl!
