UPDATE 5/7/09 - Hello, OMG it has been almost three years since my mom has done this, she said
something about helping find other great dogs homes too. Anyway life is GOOD! my mom says you
cannot even tell I had a very bad boo boo on my leg when I was a baby, all I know that if I run to
much or jump really high it feels a little uncomfortable later, but my mom rubs it and makes me feel
better. I understand everything my mom tell me pretty much sometimes without watching her hands and
just the shape of her mouth. I really like going in the car, all the places we stop the people are saying
something with their mouth to me not sure what but the are smiling so it must be good my sister Hope
wags her stump of a tail and we get cookies!!!! I am very happy with my family even though mom
brought home 2 new furry cats, I think she calls them, that I am not suppose to step on, but that's the
most fun, I do it if mom is not looking they usually run and jump where I cannot reach so I give up but
sometimes the sleep with me to keep me warm..Mom tells me I am a big strong boy, but I still like to be
with her most of the time and definately when the lights go black.. well that is me can't wait for mom to
put our pool out!!!!!
UPDATE 1/7/06 - Hi again,
We have had Lenny for about a month and half, he is just doing great. I am wondering what you
needed exactly for his obedience? I had told you we had a consultation with a private trainer and we
have completed the training for now. he is still young and we may need help in the future as he is deaf
and this is a learning process for all of us, I have a letter from Nancy, Lennys and my trainer and
wonder if I need a cerfificate or a specific document for you stating we have met or obedience
commitment? please let me know. Thank you
UPDATE 12/28/06 - Hi everyone!! This is my second time updating the first I am not sure but I do not
beleive it went anywhere when I hit send I did not receive a confirmation, am I suppose to??? anyway
Lenny is doing GREAT as i said before he became a instant member of our family, his older brother
and sister adore him, at least most of the time, as you know Lenny had a rough beggining to life, his
broken leg is compleely healed and is starting to grow some mucsle finally he is up to 32lbs whish is a
far cry from the 19 he weighed a month ago, he runs with practicaly no limp and jumps as high as I am
tall, We went to a private dog trainer as I have never worked with a deaf dog before and little did I
know i had actually taught him some signs we are learning together and I must say I think he is over
smart. thata is for now I wish everyone a safe and happy new year.
UPDATE 12/8/06 - Lenny is doing great!!! I took him to my vet on the 29th to have his leg x-rayed
again to see the progress of healing, he had the previous xray from the vet in Norway, he gave Lenny
the green light!!! He still has to be careful but he is now able to play with his brother and sister 24/7
which is almost how long they play, He is so happy to see them every time he wakes up. I had the
remainder of his vaccinations done and had him micro chiped. We also had a consultation and training
session, Not sure what you need from her, we spent over three hours with her on Wednesday, and we
are working on some basic commands him being deaf was new for me, so I went with a private trainer,
she said he is remarkable at looking for his cues, Please let me know if you need a certificate or a letter
from her. If you have anymore questions please contact me, I also left a message at Leanns # for the
one week follow up but never spoke with her,
Lenny and I will talk to you soon
11/27/06 - Lenny has been adopted!
10/20/06 - Hi all, I would like to introduce you to my new foster baby. His name is Leonard (aka
Lenny for short). Lenny is a 16 week old boxer boy who was surrendered to Second Chance by his
guardian angel Kevin. Kevin answered an add in one of our local papers for a boxer puppy. When he
got there Lenny was very skinny and walking on 3 legs. He inquired about what happened and was
told the someone had tripped on the dog and they didn't know if something was broken in his leg. Well
after seeing him he knew he couldn't leave him there. He took Lenny knowing it might be a big vet bill.
Once he found out that Lenny's elbow was indeed broken and would cost a substantial amount for the
surgery he turned him over to rescue so he could have the surgery ASAP. Kevin even drove him to our
vets for the surgery. I'm glad to know there are still people out there willing to put the needs of an
animal first. Everyone at the vets office where Lenny had his surgery fell in love with this boy. We have
also learned that Lenny is deaf so he will need a very special home. He is a sweetheart. Because
Lenny is deaf he will need lots of training and a patient home. We also feel he would do best with
another dog to learn from. When he saw my dogs here he was so excited, although he will have a cast
on and won't be able to play for a month at least. Lenny's young age means he needs a home where
someone is home most of the day to work with him on housebreaking and puppy training. If you think
you might be the best home for Lenny get that application in today. Pictures coming soon of this cute
guy.
