4/20/06 - OKAY I don't get it. Juelz is here and he has been working soooo hard to refine his skills and yet there has
not been one "bite" of interest. People, this guy is such a lover!  He is one of my trusted "body guards" as I move
throughout the house. He is a great foot warmer at the end of the bed at night (we have worked on that one and he no
longer is sharing my pillow).  LOL   He loves to play with the other dogs and my son. His favorite games include
tug-o-war, and fetch (he even knows the command "drop it").  He can sit and laydown on command and we are
continuing to gain progress with "stay".
We have found that the trick to crating Juelz is to not give him any bedding. As awful as it sounds it is the trick to
having a dry crate upon returning home (I can say this after trying everything from towels to blankets to bedsheets and
dishtowels). Also Juelz can go for several hours without walks when in the crate, but when out (i.e., when we are
home) it is best to walk him every 1 to 2 hours. As yet the Vet has found no medical reasons for excessive urination,
so we have found that this is what works best.
Last but not least, I have to tell you folks Juelz has one of the cutest love me faces I have seen in a long time! I call
him the little cupid of the house. Who ever named him obviously had no imagination and could not see the little black
heart spot over his nose. He is a love, he had to be he was born with "the mark".  Get your apps in folks. Juelz has so
much love to give. Your family will truly be blessed!

3/26/06 - Hey it's been a while since I have updated you on Juelz's progress. He is doing great on his house training,
as long as us human remember that he needs to be walked every 1-2 hours (when not crated and human are
home). He goes all night out of the crate with out accidents as well. Juelz is VERY happy to no longer be crated at
night. He is such a love bug. He is usually the dog that is up on the bed between Chris and I trying to share the pillow.
He is not shy about wanting to cuddle and will do so often with the resident dogs as well. Juelz does not have a
mean bone in his body. He is the big oaf of the house. He has a dopey expression that just makes me laugh at the
oddest times!

Juelz is very playful and brings out the puppy in all of us here. His favorite activity is wrestling, but he is also pretty
good at tug-o-war. As I am writing this there is a three way tug-o-war going on in the next room. LOL    Like most
boxers, Juelz does not like to be left behind. He would much rather go with us to work. He whines a bit when he is
crated. Juelz does get nervous when we go outside without him. He paces and doesn't settle down. He will also let
you know he is upset by peeing . For this reason we keep him in a crate when we are not home, a practice his forever
family will probably want to keep up with. Most of the dogs here get crated so Juelz doesn't feel left out, or in as the
case may be.

Juelz is such a great dog his picture does not do him justice. He is beautiful and cuddly and very loyal. He is going to
make his forever family very happy. I know it's been said before but, this one's a keeper! Get you applications in. He
really wants to go home.

3/1/06 - Juelz is doing good here at his foster home. We have had some success at of late with his house training. It
has been a whole 2 days without him peeing on my floor. We have found that the trick is walking him every 45-60
minutes while not in his crate. I have been setting my microwave timer to remind us and so far so good. Juelz has
one more three day treatment of antibiotics left to go before we can recheck his urine levels. The next treatment won't
start for 1 more week, then we will let you know.

Juelz continues to bounce around the house almost nonstop. Lucky for us he has figured out that night time is
for sleeping and rarely has to be crated to give us a good nights sleep. Most nights Juelz makes himself comfortable
right in the middle of Chris and I, with his head on one of our pillows. When crated while we are home he does
whimper, but most of the time he calms down within a few minutes. Juelz is OK with the cats. He would still love to
play with them, but is reminded about once a week that dogs and cats don't socialize in this house. Due to his hyper
behavior and his love of jumping up on people I would not recommend that he be in a house with children under
4yrs. He doesn't realize his own strength and has almost toppled me a few times. Other than that he loves my son
and all the other kids he has met.

2/19/06 - Juelz went to the Vet yesterday. It turns out he has a bladder infection. He was showing excess protein and
an elevated Ph in his urine. He is on antibiotics for that. He was also put on a broad spectrum dewormer since he is
so skinny. His weight has been increasing a little. He is up to 54.5 lbs. The vet asked if Juelz is showing any signs of
itching or licking his paws. It appeared to him that his reddish color of the face and ears along with the bloodshot
puffy eyes could be a sign of allergies. In any case he feels what ever it is mild since I have seen no irritable
symptoms.

On the home front Juelz is getting along well with his house mates, although he is still very curious about one of our
cats. She teases him and he can't stand it.LOL He allows us to crate him, but doesn't like it and tells us when ever
we are in ear shot. Some days it sounds like an operetta is going on in the kitchen. Juelz does well with the
command "sit" and responds to his name very well. We are working on others such as laydown and NO. Most nights
Juelz is not crated and chooses to be right next to me on the bed. He does wake me up on occasion for the early
morning pee, but this will probably change as his medicine goes to work on his bladder infection. The process of
house breaking him is going slowly, but this to should change as the infection clears. Juelz is a joy to have in the
house. He is very rambunctious, and LOVES to play. He "boxes" regularly with my boxer boy Bishop. After about 15
minutes both of them are to pooped to move.

2/11/06 - WOW! What a bundle of enegry. Juelz arrived here this morning at his new foster home, and he has kept
everyone busy. He has met both the resident dogs and cats and everything is going well. He has christened the
floors a few times, but that is to be expected. He finally calmed down and ate this afternoon. He has a lot of mass to
obtain before he is "normal" size. We will work on that one.

2/10/06 -  Juelz is doing great!  He is a very sweet boy & still waiting for his new home.  He has learned that he needs
to sit to get his leash on to go out for a ride or to go potty & I just have to show him the leash now to get him to do that.
He is eager to please & so willing to learn.  He does fine in his crate & will go in with a promise of a treat.  He wants
so much to play with my girl, Sandi, but he is a little too active for her age.  Poor Juelz does the play bow & bounce to
try to entice her, he's almost there! :)

Get those applications in soon, Juelz is a wonderful catch that you do not want to miss out on!

2/2/06 -  Juelz arrived late Saturday night, thanks to his wonderful transport volunteers!  He was surrendered to a
shelter very emaciated & dehydrated, it was obvious he was not cared for very well.  The shelter was even given false
name and address, so they could not even follow-up on his past, only that he was named Juelz.  I do not see any
signs of abuse as Juelz is a lovebug!  He was just very neglected and we are glad he made it to us to find his new
home.

Juelz is just an overgrown puppy that is looking for love & attention.  He is doing well in his crate and only had a
couple of peeing accidents as he adjusted to the routine.   We did find out today at the vet that he does not hear well
at all and is mostly deaf.  I thought it was odd in the car when I picked him up & he did not respond to normal sounds,
yet if I made a high-pitch noise or very loud, he would cock his head back & forth with his ears perked, looking at me
like I was a nut!  I just thought I WAS acting like a nut at that point & he was telling me!  LOL   Turns out the vet &
Leann (who dropped him off today for his neuter for me) did a lot of noise testing in the exam room and he did not
respond very much.   Because of this, he will need a home with a few specific requirements to make his life the
happiest & safest possible: a fenced yard and another dog that can hear.  The good news is he does not appear to
have any seperation anxiety issues that some hearing impaired dogs have! :)

I have noticed he responds to hand jestures more than voice commands & he seems smart about that, so I don't
think he is going to be a difficult one to teach things to.  He is not overly hyper like some young boxers, he seems like
the normal range.  Juelz does fine with my cats & I have had him with one of my young foster girls and he loves her.
I think he will be fine with kids as he has a good personality and is very friendly and a nice boy.

Watch for more updates soon from this good boy!
