UPDATE 7/5/06 - Hi all, JJ is doing really well. We had a great trip to Connecticut from his foster mom in PA. JJ
rides in the truck really well. Jill sat in the back seat with him for a while and they bonded. He's getting accustomed
to his new home and our coming and going. We do have a prety active house. Every time he goes out the front
door he thinks he's going in the truck, so we let him out the back door more. He's eating well and keepin it all
down. We put him on Nutro Natural Choice high energy. We think the extra protein will help him put some pounds
on, and he seems to digest the smaller pieces better. He is starting to run around the yard more and plays with
lots of toys, balls, pull ropes. The cats are learning to tolerate him faster than we thought, but have definitly let him
know they are in charge. Invisible Fence is coming tomorrow to put the flags up and start his training. He stays with
us in the yard pretty well but will wander next door to check things out. JJ sit on command, and we are working on
stay and paw and other stuff. It's new for us too because our beloved TYSON was better behaved and more human
than our
kids. He loves Jill and won't let her out of his sight. This makes grilling and adventure, the kitchen door is getting a
real workout. JJ exhausts himself trying to keep up with her pace. He was so tired from following us around the
house getting ready for a July 4th party, he fell asllep and didn't even hear us leave. We got him a crate and when
he saw it he freaked out a bit. I've been leaving the door open and throwing treats in for him to sniff out and find. I
want him to learns it's a good place but I think his old owners used it as a prison for him. We'll see how it goes
because we really want him to be able to go camping with us but he will have to be crated if we go out to dinner or
whatever for a few hours. He is great with all the other dogs in the neighborhood when we go for walks and is
getting much better on the leash. He only pulls when we first head out and then heels nicely. I wish we knew more
about his first 2 years and why he was surrendered, as it would help us to understand him better. He is and will be
very loved and spoiled here. I will send some new pictures to his foster mom Vicky.
Thank you for our new family member.

6/29/06 - Jabez has been adopted!

6/12/06 - JJ ( Jabez) arrived at the Lodge after his journey from the meeting.  He did well on the ride with the
exception of throwing up.  He also has had loose poops until this morning.  He was not eating, but finally started
eating today.  I guess he decided he was hungry.

JJ came from a shelter and was an owner surrender.  He is quite thin, which could be from the stress of the
shelter and all the changes he has gone through the last few weeks.  Now that he started eating he should put the
wight back on.

The introductions with the resident  boxers went great.  Our resident queen doesn't always take to well with our
fosters.  There was no growling at all.  In fact JJ hasn't growled at anything.  Today Katie was eating and JJ walked
over, she jumped on him, but didn't hurt him, nor was she very aggressive at him, like I have seen with other
fosters. I  guess he learned not to go near her when she is eating.  JJ will chase Rocky around the house, he
never wants anything to do with the fosters. Its pretty funny to watch.  JJ will also follow me everywhere I go.  He
wants to be with me all the time.  Yesterday I was outside painting all day.  He was barking in the house cause he
wanted to be with me.  I put him in the outside kennel and I got on the lift so I could paint, the next thing I knew, JJ
was under the lift, he let himself out of the kennel.  I had just gotten the lift up in the air.  I had to get it down right
away to get him, I was afraid he was going to run, but no, he just waited for me to come down so he could kiss me.

JJ is what I call a teenager.  He knows some commands, but needs to work on his manners.  He is very strong
and pulls on his leash.  He may be OK with cats, because the other day we were outside and there was a black cat
in my neighbors yard and it didn't even bother him.

He is just a love, he likes to cuddle with you on the couch.  If you are looking for a loyal bud, he is the one for you.
