UPDATE 1/3/07 - Ginger continues to get happier everyday. We just got home from her obedience
class this evening and we were even complimented tonight by other students. She is starting to pranch
around the room like she wants to be teachers pet. She is learning stay back, sit, sit stay, down, down
stay, heel, and come. She loves the other dogs and would rather just play, but she I think tonight has
figured out why we are really there. She got presents for Christmas and came out on New Years eve
with us to my sons. She just loves my grandchildren and just keeps bringing them toy after toy when
they are around. Ginger is so happy. When Iam working and she gets alittle bored she takes her own
toys and throws them in the air and cathes them. The weather is still beautiful here so we are still taking
about four long walks aday. I really don't think we could love Ginger more. Happy New Year
everyone!!
UPDATE 11/21/06 - Hi Everyone, It's me Ginger! It was a long ride to my forever home but I'am
adjusting just fine. I go on walks in the woods every day and I love jumping in the brook. I'am trying so
hard to please every one. It was warm here last Friday so we went to the ocean because I behave so
good in the car. I ran up and down the beach for three hours. I chased the waves out, then they chased
me back in!! I met a trainer and my obedience classes are going to start in mid December. I have been
so good there is talk of me going to "THE" farm for Thanksgiving, its where the whole family gathers
together. There are lots of cows, two dogs and lots of family. I get to eat turkey,YUM,YUM!! I miss
Lexi and Linda alot but we are going to keep in touch and I met the cattle dog next door and we did
lots of jumping. I hope to meet the grand children soon but I'am still really loud at the door so I have to
work on that. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!
11/12/06 - Ginger has been adopted!
11/7/06 - Well it's been quite shocking to see what a good girl this Ginger really is. I think she would
do well in almost any home, but definitely in a home where someone will devote training and exercise a
couple times a day. She is still in puppy mode where her energy is concerned!! I think if she had kids
to play with she'd like it. She doesn't jump really, except when she is getting ready to go out, then
watch out for your doors!! lol Yesterday we played with the tennis ball for 30 minutes and she finally
got tired and laid down in the yard. But, I threw it 3 more times, just to make sure she knew she wasn't
done until I was done!! And of course to make sure she really was tired.......my theory is a tired dog is
a good dog!! She's had no accidents in the house, but I do take her out about 4-6 times a day to be
sure. She makes it 8-9 hours a night too. But, when she's not playing she loves to just cuddle on the
couch with you too. She just wants to be with you. (too bad we can't all take our fur babies to work
with us!!) I can't say enough about her behavior for a 1 year old, it's just impressive. She needs
exercise and she'll be great. She's doing a bit better walking and is sitting with sometimes little reminder
at the cross walks!! She is happy to see everyone and kisses like she hasn't seen you in months!! Great
girl.
11/06/06 - Ginger has had a great weekend. She is learning to sit at all the crosswalks when we go out
for a walk. She's not happy about that, as I think her butt gets cold!! She will definitely need someone
who knows how to train a dog or to take her to obedience school, as walking her is difficult. She could
pull me down the street, and she's not exactly a tiny thing!! She does notice kids, squirrels and cats
when we walk, but is not at all aggressive, merely happy to see them from what I see. She wanted to
give the little boy (5?) across the street kisses yesterday, but I don't think he wanted them! I think as
she gets settled she feels like she's at home and doesn't follow us into every room!! She is so happy
just to be with you, that she'll curl up on the couch for almost a whole Sunday to watch movies!! She's
such a good girl in the house, although I haven't left her loose and alone yet for any significant amount of
time. She likes all my neighbors and they all think she's very sweet, so that's good. She's been a joy to
have here, but I imagine she'll be gone to her new forever home soon. I think for a 1 year old, she's
awesome!! But she looks sad that she doesn't have her own "person" to bond with. Hopefully soon!!!
11/4/06 - Hi, it's me, Ginger. I just turned a year old Monday!!! My foster Mom says I need a
birthday party. I will even get a special treat!! But all I really wanted was a new home for my birthday.
But my foster Mom says that there's someone out there who will love me more than I've ever been
loved before!! Can they hurry?? Maybe I can have 2 parties!! She says because I'm such a good girl
I'll make an awesome addition to someone's family. I don't have accidents in the house, so I must be
housebroken. I'm still a puppy technically, so I need to be taken out regularly to keep my training up,
but I get the whole "potty" thing!! I know "sit" and "down", sometimes even "stay" but need some
consistency. Foster Mom didn't think I knew how to do these things until she had a treat in her hand!!!
I love to play with toys and will play by myself if nobody else wants to play with me. I love to play ball
in the yard, I even bring it back to you, and sometimes even drop it for you. I play for a while then,
bang.....out like a light. See, I like my naps and sleep so wonderfully in my crate at night, nobody even
knows I'm here!! Last night I slept for almost 9 hours!! Boy did I have to go out when I got up. And
it was cold in here during the night, so I hope my new forever family actually USES the thermostat,
other than the "off" position. lol Can I come home with you?? I'm so sweet, I know I'll have tons of
people in line!!
11/3/06 - Ginger has been here now since Wednesday evening. I was told she wasn't fully house broke,
but am not sure. She has had 1 accident in her crate the first night she was here, and I believe that was
totally my fault. She wouldn't eat or drink after her spay, so I took her out at 8 p.m., and should have
taken her out again before bed at 10 p.m. I just didn't see how she'd have to go!!! My fault totally.
BUT...every time I have taken this gorgeous girl out, she immediately does her thing before deciding if
she want to play or run back into the warmth of the house!!! NO ACCIDENTS since then at all. She
loves toys and first thing this morning, after going out, she went and got a baby to play with. Just as I
was getting ready to write her update, she pulled Lexi's bed all the way over to the other side of the
office....Why??? Either to get closer to Lexi, or to get closer to the heat register!!!! It was so funny to
watch. I may have another smart one here!! She is young, energetic and seemingly well behaved. She
won't be here long!!
11/2/06 - Well, I am not sure if her transporters noticed, but this girl Ginger has awesome markings!! I
have not yet seen a boxer with white feet, at a slant!! That's right, her cute white paws, 3 out of 4 are at
the neatest angle!! It's hard to describe, so I won't try. She has more white on her paws than my Lexi,
or even Mya did. Beautiful!! So far, she's really quiet for the most part and I think getting comfortable
in my office as I write this. Get your applications in ASAP, I doubt this gorgeous girl will be here for
long. What a nice personality!! Would definitely suggest obedience school for her, and maybe someone
who at least comes home for lunch!! I think she's just happy to be out of a crate 3 times today and even
for an hour or so!!! A bit shy so far, let's see if it's just because she's new, or if it's her nature!!!
11/1/06 - GINGER IS HERE! Thanks Linda W. and Jeri!! She is an owner surrender as her family did
not have enough time for her & had trouble housebreaking her. She was a doll in the truck, and
immediately went out into my back yard and squatted to pee!! However, she's still not a very happy
camper from her vet visit to be spayed. So, as suggested I made her 3 scrambled eggs and 2 pieces of
toast...no dice, no water for that matter either. Hopefully she'll eat soon. As soon as I opened the door,
Lexi met her with kisses and Ginger just looked at her, like OK another boxer. No issues at all in the
first 25-30 minutes!!!
