UPDATE 9/10/06 - Duke continues to enjoy the summer: fun, fun, fun and resting in the sun.  Duke has developed
a few favorites since his arrival which includes soccer balls, squeaky toys and trucks.  He would take his soccer
ball everywhere if he could.  He likes to drop his soccer ball in the shallow part of the lake and follow it into slightly
deeper water then back to the shallow area.  Since he is not a good swimmer, this is challenging for him.  After
playing ball in the driveway and yard he likes to lay in the sun on the porch to rest, usually his face is covered in dirt
and the muddy ball is next to him.  This is his third soccer ball since he arrived.
Duke loves to ride and sits up extra proud when he is in the golf cart or truck.  He loves the children that visit often
and is always gentle and protective with the younger girls.  Duke really enjoys visits from children and other dogs.
Duke recently completed his first camping adventure.  He sat by the camp fire, enjoyed grilled food and camped
out all night.
Duke is easily the most athletic of the three boxer boys we have enjoyed.  His speed, leaping ability and strength
are incredible.  He tests these abilities every day by running at full speed on wooded trails behind our home.
As athletic as he is outside he is thankfully quiet and well behaved inside our home.  Duke loves to sleep late and
really likes to snuggle.  Duke has been a perfect fit with our family and we all love him very much. We remain
extremely grateful to SCBR.
P.S. We would love to attach some pictures of Duke but we have been unable to do so.  If anyone has info.
regarding this problem, please let us know.

UPDATE 7/23/06 -  Duke was picked up at his foster home on June 24th by our son and arrived at his new home in
Maine after midnight.  Despite riding for several hours he was still very alert and well behaved even greeting us
with kisses.  He ran around the yard and seemed a little curious at all the sounds from the lake but settled right in
after playing with a toy and late night snack.
He is such a great dog.  He is calm and loveable inside our home and full of energy when he is outside playing.
Duke loves to show off his new soccer skills and works on them daily.  He enjoys riding around town in our old
pickup truck and likes to sit up proud in the boat as if he is steering.  He enjoys the busy weekends at our home
with frequent visits from kids of all ages and other dogs.  He loves to run full speed around the house and leap
over the flower garden.
Duke is so very trusting and loyal that his second week here he saw his dad run down the dock and dive into the
water.  Duke sprinted down the dock and leaped out into the water.  Typical of most boxers, Duke isn't much of a
swimmer; but he tries real hard to be a good boy.
We are so luky to have found Duke.  Our last boxer died one day shy of his 13th birthday last March.  We looked at
the SCBR pictures for a few months and found the perfect boxer boy in Duke.  We hope Duke's previous owner is
well and knows Duke is happy and loved.  P.S.  Duke seems to like to sleep in; he is not an early riser.  We will try
to post a photo soon.

6/24/06 - Duke has been adopted!

6/6/06 - Hi Everybody, Duke here!  I have been in my foster home for three days and am really starting to adjust.  In
the beginning, I got into a few squabbles with my furry brother Nemo but now, we are playing together like best
buddies.  That isn't to say that we agree on everything but my two legged dad makes sure we follow the rules.  I
have a new toy squirrel to play with and am also learning to play soccer!  I have to admit that I am not quite as good
as Nemo but I am learning.  I know everyone was amazed that a boy my size could jump 3 feet off the ground!!!   I
also have a two legged brother and sister, something I am not used to, but I really like to play with them too.  I love
it when they through a toy to me or toss me that soccer ball.  OK, Nemo and I had a lot of fun chasing each other so
I am really tired am off to bed but there will be more updates soon.  My dad tells me that he sent a new picture of
me so everyone can see how big and beautiful I am.  I hope you like it!!

6/3/06 -   Duke was surrendered today from a very very nice man who had a spinal and hip injury.  He felt really bad
but felt that Duke deserved a home that could exercise him and play with him and meet all his needs as a young
boxer.

Right now Duke seems very confused and a little scared.  He keeps coming by me for reassurance and will only
stay in my dining room and a little bit in the kitchen.  He keeps going by the front door where he last saw his owner.
:(  Duke will only be with me overnight and then he will be picked up by Ross and be fostered there.  I really like
Duke already. He is an extremely well behaved boy and I really hope he goes to an excellent home.  He also has
the fastest  wagging nubby in the East!!!!!!!!!!!  He has been wagging it and I think once he acclimates to being in
rescue he will really come out of his shell. You can just tell he has a friskiness to him!
