11/14/06 - Hi Friends, I just want you to know that Diamond was sent to the bridge. He was showing some displaced aggression and we decided that it wasn't safe to continue to work on his socialization so that he could someday be adopted. Diamond's foster dad let him out with all his foster brothers and sisters after work into the yard and our neighbor was out in his yard. Diamond went to the fence and barked and once he  realized that he couldn't get to him, he turned and went about 15 feet to attack our Peaches. Peaches was hurt with a pretty good cut over her eye and a slice on her side. We knew that no matter how hard we tried, we were not going to be successful. We are sad but in our hearts, we knew we had done our best. None of this was his fault, as he was never socialized in his short 1 1/2years of life. Decisions like this are never easy, not a fun part of being a foster parent but we feel we made the correct decision. Hopefully, Diamond is running free at the bridge where we will be united someday.

Diamond is not available for adoption at this time.  He has shown more aggression issues over the past several weeks.

Diamond's foster mom and dad have been working with him by attending obedience class to see if we could make him more confident with life in general. He has done a pretty good job and he is actually doing an excellent job at obedience. Diamond has had alot of changes in his life and I beieve that as he gains more confidence and experiences more things, he will become a devoted partner in some families life. I think that when he first came here, he was very frightened because he wasn't socialized very much in his first year of life. We are changing that and he is really a big sweetie. He loves attention which I don't believe he had much of. He likes to play with the other dogs here and he loves toys. From what I can gather about his life before SCBR, he was a family pet but not a family pet that you and I offer to our pets. His days were spent with his sister, Bayboo, outside in a fenced yard. They were only brought in at night to be crated. We all know that boxers don't do well with a situation like this. They need love and attention. They need human companionship. They will be your best buddy but you have to meet them half way. Diamond is ready to become a valuable part of a family. He will be forever grateful for the chance to win your heart. And he can do that to you. He met our son at our home and was cautious and nervous but once he saw that he wasn't a threat to him, he
loved him. Wouldn't leave him alone. At obedience class, he does what is asked and doesn't seem to mind all the other people. children or dogs. Diamond is a good eater and has no issues with his food bowl. He is eating
kibbled twice a day. He crates perfectly and loves the peanut butter filled marrow bone that he gets for being the perfect boy. You don't even have to ask him anymore. No accidents in his crate either. Diamond sleeps with his sister in our spare bedroom only because there just isn't anymore room in our bedroom for two more dogs. We already have five in there and he is okay with that. I will tell you that it breaks my heart as he goes right in but will always sit at the gate even after I have shut all the lights off just watching and wishing as he watches all the other 5 go in our bedroom. He never complains but I can tell that he wishes that he could be in there getting some snuggle time. On a funny side of things. This week at obedience class, they always make Diamond and Bayboo be apart from each other. Well we were working on the come command and I have Diamond and the foster dad has Bayboo. The exercise was to put them in a sit stay and then walk away with the leash off and then call them to come. The foster dad had a $5.00 bet that he would come to him. Can you guess who won the bet? Diamond and I are working every night this week on the come command and I am
$5.00 poorer. We'll get them next week. Think about making Diamond part of your family. It will be a great experience as you see this boy come out of his shell. I think it will be worth the effort.

We have decied to work on Diamond's socialization and he and his sister will be attending obedience class starting this week. Diamond is a great dog but just needs to widen his socialization skills. By attending class, we hope to make him a great adoptable pet. Please check back to see his progress. In his foster home, Diamond has no problems and is wonderful. We really want to see him gain some confidence.

Diamond is enjoying his stay at the Boxer'In.  He is pretty easy going and just kind of goes with the flow of things.  He loves attention.  He is now with all of his foster brothers and sisters and gets along great with all of them.  He spends the work day in his crate next to his sister and is good while he is in there.  He needs a little more coaxing to get him in the crate than his sister.  He will usually go sit on the couch when he knows it is time to crate.  So you have to take him by the collar and lead him in with some small resistance.  At night, he sleeps in our spare bedroom suite with his sister on the bed.  I wish that we could have him in our bedroom but we already have six in there so things are a little tight.  He is a good sport about it.  They both settle down very quickly.  Diamond will bark outside to alert you to outside noises.  He keeps pretty good tabs on what the neighbors are doing.  Diamond like his sister are offered two meals per day but they kind of pick at it.  At the boxer'in, we feed all at once and the bowls come up as soon as they are finished.  They both seem to never finish their bowls but are learning that you have to eat when it is offered or you wait till the next meal.  We do this to prevent issues over food. They will figure it out soon.  Our usual menu consists of wet food but they actually prefer dry so that is what they are getting.  Diamond  is a very calm dog for his age.  He likes to play and will play at the drop of a hat but he is normally very reserved for his age.  He loves his fenced in backyard and will run and play all the time.  Last night, all the dogs played with a stuffed raccoon that they found in the yard.  Somehow, he ended up with just the tail and he carried it around most of the night.  The raccoon did not make it back to the toy box today and had to be retired.  As most of you know, boxers love their toys but when you have eight sharing one stuffed animal, it's not pretty.  We are enjoying Diamond and think he will make a great additon to any household.  Think about making this guy a big part of your family.

9/15/06 - Diamond is one of the new guests that have arrived at the Boxer'In. He came into rescue from Louisianna.  He was owned by a family that is still helping with all the Katrina dogs and he decided that in order to continue to help them, he would give up some of his own dogs to make room for more.  Diamond
came in with his sister whose name is Bayboo.  His previous owner stated that he felt they didn't need to go together but should have another dog in the household for the companionship. They get along great if you have any interest in both. Diamond would like to thank his transporters who all went above and beyond the call. He is stressed as you can only imagine but has eaten a couple of meals already and had a good night sleep staying in our spare bedroom suite with his sister.  We will try to introduce them to their 6 foster brothers and sisters later today.  We won't rush them and we will take it slow.  Diamond was very well taken care of as he is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations.  He is a beautiful fawn male, with black mask and white chest and feet. He also has more white on his face and neck than his sister  He should do well here as we help him find his way to his new home.  Check back to see his progress.  You would be very lucky to have him in your family.
