2/18/07 - Cinnamon is settling in well here. She does well with my dane, Max but not with my cat or ferret. She is
chasing them all over the house and has tried to bite them so I would say no to cats. She weighs in at 62 lbs. I think
she is a little overweight but she is on thyroid medicine (very inexpensive - $10/month) so maybe that has something
to do with it. I was told by her owner that she has to go to the bathroom a lot. I've been taking her out every two hours
and she goes every time but no accidents in the house. I also limited her water after dinner and took her out once in
the middle of the night just to make sure she was ok. The previous owner said she had some separation anxiety. I
think being with another dog helps her out a lot. I haven't really been gone to notice any anxiety. She really is a
lovebug. She has become my husband's shadow and loves to sit with him on the couch and lick his nose. She will
be going to her permanent foster home next week so I'm sure they will have some more news..
7/06 - Cinnamon was adopted!
6/20/06 - I just wanted to toss out a quick update on Cinnamon. I had her at the vet for the normal things and tests
that are done. This is when we found out about her having Lyme Disease. At the end of the visit I asked the doctors
to please do me a favor which was to do the Hypothyroid test as so many people were talking about the seasonal
balding she had. Now, I wasn't sure what season she was balding for since she kept getting more bald. Therefore, I
needed to know if this Hypothyroid may have been the cause for so much hair loss.
Sure enough the test did come back positive and she is now taking medication for it. The medication is known as
Soloxin. She takes .05 gm two times a day, or every 12 hours. As of now she is beginning to grow some fur back. I
had the feeling it was this disorder because I have two dogs who have the same thing. The oldest Baxter and the
youngest Gunther. It starts out looking like seasonal balding, but the hair doesn't grow back and they begin to have
more skin showing then fur.
6/11/06 - Sorry for not getting an update in earlier, but there really isn't anything new with this one.
Cinnamon has adjusted well in the foster home here. She is a completly wonderful girl who loves to just be with
someone. She loves her head messaged and her belly. Cinnamon is not as alpha as one's in the past, but is still in
charge. She get's to sleep on the bed every night. She still snores loudly and sometimes wakes me from a deep
sleep. I open my eye's look at her and I laugh everytime. It is just amazing this small little girl is able to do that since I
normally wouldn't hear a bomb go off. So I re-adjust her head to open her airway a wee bit more to allow proper air
flow and all is silent... Until next time... LOL...
We really enjoy Cinnamon. She seems to like all her brothers and has realized that staying out of the political ring
with them is in her best interest....LOL... Long story...
She is responding well with the medication for the lime disease we diagnosed her with. If you recall the poor thing
was covered with them when we brough her into rescue from the Cap Cod area. Thankfully, we did find it in time and
this is not something that is transfered to anyone or anything and harmless to humans. It can only be caught through
direct infection of a tick. She will continue the medication for three weeks at which time the Vet says she will be fine.
5/15/06 - I would like to update you all on how this little girl Cinnamon is doing. Mike and myself went to pick
Cinnamon up on Saturday from one of our own fosters Norma as she had lots of company and Cinnamon needed
to settle in somewhere more quiet. .
We got her home gave her a bath and cut her nails. This little girl is wonderful. She is sweet as can be and loves to
cuddle! She gives these little kisses just as gentle as can be. She enjoys her head being massaged to the point
she will fall asleep as you are doing it. She likes to cuddle at night on the bed next to me and snores loudly. Very
funny. Here is this little gentle girl who is full of love and happiness and snores like a band saw...LOL...
She and the other three boys had settled in very nicely. They seem to protect this one. I have noticed that if there is a
change in tone or pitch to a persons voice Cinnamon tend to put her ears back and tuck her tail and leave the room.
We never know what these poor babies have gone through, but this one is timid in that regards. I think once she
gets more used to the routine she will be fine. She would be great in a home where there is little activity and
calmness. She is great with my daughter (14) and my neice (6) and nephew (4) which is a great sign. I will be taking
some pictures of her today to get out there so you all can see this ctue little thing. No bigger then a minute and as
cute as can be!.
5/10/06 - Cinnamon is an owner surrender to rescue, she was originally adopted from SCBR 4 years ago. She is
now back with us to look for a new home due to no fault of her own. Cinnamon is a sweet girl who is said to love
children and other dogs. She is settling into her foster home but seems to be a little stressed by the changes. She
has been trying to get the other dog in her foster home to play with her, but that hasn't happened as of yet. More
updates & pictures coming soon as she settles in....
