UPDATE 3/25/07 -   Well Chelsea's been with us 6 months now and she continues to be an awesome dog. Easy
as pie to have around and a great older gal.

UPDATE 12/27/06 - chelsea is fantastic. her breath is much improved now that she's had rotten teeth pulled a
month ago. she has a few health issues but otherwise a pleasure to be around. she continues to love to go for
walks and rides in the car and actually plays with a few toys now and then.

UPDATE 11/26/06 - chelsea is doing great. she goes for dental work tomorrow as she has a rotten tooth and few
other dental issues. also maybe has cushings disease. but otherwise she is just such a pleasure.

UPDATE 10/21/06 - Chelsea has been with us a month and she is fantastic. She transitioned into our home
without any difficulty and it's as if she's always been here. She goes on daily walks with us and she's great on the
leash too. She loves the walks and also going for rides in the car. She hangs with our other two boxers but doesn't
really play with them. She's taken over Axel's bed which he doesn't mind because that means he gets to be in our
bed more often. Chelsea loves being petted and she'll follow you everywhere (now we have 3 dogs that stick to us
like glue). Chelsea does have the worse dog breath that we've ever smelled but other than that she's just plain
great and we're happy she's with us.

UPDATE 9/26/06 - Just wanted to let everyone know what an awesome dog Chelsea is....we are so happy that she
is living with us. She's so easy going, loves to go for walks and rides in the car. Our other 2 boxers are welcoming
to her and try to get her to play from time to time. I was a bit worried how a 10yr old, after being in fostercare almost
9 months, would handle moving to a new home.....for Chelsea, no problem. Feed her, pet her, give her love, and
she's pretty happy.

9/22/06 - Chelsea has been adopted!

9/9/06 - Hi, Chelsea here. On the "Available Dogs" page is a new picture of me.  I am bathing after having a bone to
chew on. I am a very clean girl.  We went visiting last week and I was in hopes of being adopted, but, I guess I've
been rejected again.  I only snore a little, I'm not the jealous type, I really try to help with the chores, I enjoy my food
and am very good at cleaning up any and all spills. I also give good kisses and greet everyone at the door. I love to
help!! I love to work and even baby sit! Don't you have a job for me? Call and ask for Chelsea! I could be ready to go
in a "jiffy"!

7/19/06 - I am going to have to take some different pictures of Chelsea. The picture showing her at 'rest' is very
deceiving! She does like her comforts, but she doesn't spend all her time asleep, or even lounging. In fact she is
currently wondering around the yard right now, doing her "squirrel patrol"! It would please her no end to catch one.
She is usually first to get to the kitchen when I am cooking, loves to chaperon me when I go into the bathroom,
loves to watch the kitties, and is generally on the alert most of the time. She doesn't bark much, but can.

6/21/06 - Chelsea has been with us since the end of January, has celebrated her 10th birthday and recovered from
2 different surgeries! The second surgery was the most difficult to heal, but she is healed,  some fur is growing in
over parts of the scar and currently has no  unattended medical issues or physical disabilities. She does play with
the puppy, even tries to sleep next to her at night,  and they do nap together during the day.  She gets along so well
with everybody, including the cats.  Chelsea is a "chow hound" and would be much heavier if allowed to eat all she
wants.  As it is she is a very solid 64 lbs. and tho' very broad chested, is not really fat.  She is another "Velcro" dog.
She doesn't like to be left out of any activities and is a real "family dog".  She is a pleasure to have around. She
really enjoys "helping" with whatever chore you happen to be doing.   She gives lots of moral support and does all
the "heavy looking on" and supervising. She is still looking for her forever home and could be packed and ready  at
any time.  She is really a pretty active senior lady.

5/23/06 -  Hi, Chelsea here. As you can see I am a new girl!  Although I get to relax in one of the
recliners, I also have to share the love-seat at times.  At other times I am a bed-hog.  I do like my comforts!
The second picture is of my remodeled butt.  I no longer have that awful big tumor that I had when I came into
rescue.  I will always have a scar, but my sweet personality should keep that in the background. Foster Mom says
so!  I have what looks like a lump and it is, sort of: it is just where excess skin is puckered together just a little.  I do
have a red spot in the middle of the scar:  it is only about the size of a dime and getting much smaller.  It used to be
just a bit bigger than a quarter a couple of weeks ago.  I am healing very nicely! The third picture shows me coming
in the dog door-boy is that cool!  The picture of me "sharing" the love-seat is not really a good picture: Sam is trying
to get me to give up my spot.  Clara is on the other end.

I am a very friendly girl, I don't jump up on people, I do not bark just to hear my own voice, I am very clean and
I give the best kisses!  Won't you share your home with me?  I am no trouble. Using the computer is a lot of work
and I am not used to much work.  Later!  Love, Chelsea

5/9/06 - Today, my foster girl, turns 10 years of age!  Chelsea is active, bright and alert.  You would never know that
she has attained double figures!   Later on she will have a bit of ice cream and dog treats!  She is so good and so
deserving.  Chelsea is also "teacher" where the new dog door is concerned.  The others are learning by example.
So, Happy Birthday Chelsea!!

4/29/06 - Because of the location of the incision from the tumor removal, it has opened up again!!  Dr. Matt wants
her in to redo Monday am.  He is going to try a different type of stitching, or whatever, in hopes of pulling
it together and keeping it together.  Every time she moves, it seems, the area also moves:  lots of muscles
underlying the area.

4/28/06 - Chelsea's stitches were not holding too well from her tumor removal and the center of the 4 inch incision,
opened up.  One of the vets stapled it back together.  That didn't last, and when Dr. Matt saw it he told me about the
mast cells and that he wanted to try to get cleaner margins.  So, more surgery, same spot! This time he used wire
stitches!  It has come apart in the same place, again!  I am putting hot packs on the open place, she is on
antibiotics, and hopefully it will begin to fill in.  The rest of the stitches are supposed to be removed next Friday!  It
was a Monday appointment but we changed it to a later date.

In the meantime, she goes out and barks, runs about the yard and is very active.  She will be 10 on the 9th!  Going
on 6!  She is the sweetest old girl.  The incision is on that hip and every time she moves, it moves!  A very
active part of the body.  Right now she is taking her half of the loveseat out of the middle.  Sam thinks she is a bed
hog!  They are so funny
!

4/22/06 -
Chelsea has been having a hard time with the tumor removal.  She initially had the big lump removed
from her butt and the center of the incision didn't heal well.  She went back in for staples to hold it together.  That
didn't work and the labs came back that it was a mast cell tumor!  She has been on Benedryl since, has had more
surgery to attempt to get 'it' all and hopefully it will heal properly this time. She doesn't care for the "hot packs" that
she needs to help the healing, but she does allow them.  She is also on antibiotics for the time being to combat
possible infection. On the very positive side she is on DES pills for her spay-incontinence and has graduated from
a 3 day schedule to a 4 day schedule.  I may try to bump her up to 5 days this either this week or next.  She is
staying a 'dry girl'!

She is also pretty active and though she doesn't show any more weight loss, she is pretty solid now.  She is a very
rugged girl, just not one of the long legged, showy types
.

4/8/06 -
Chelsea appears to be none the worse for her surgery, yesterday.  She looks much more "equal" when
she walks, etc.  When she wags that nub, that is all that is really wiggling.  That big lump is gone!!!  She has a
huge bald spot on her butt, but the hair will grow back.  When she appears to be healed I will take pictures and
send them on to be put with her update
.

4/4/06 -
Chelsea goes in Friday am to get the big tumor on her rump removed!!  She will no longer look like she
has a second tail, out of place!

3/28/06 - Chelsea here.  Dr. Matt says that I no longer need to have medicine in my eye, but he wants to check it
again next week, just to be sure. I like it here, but it isn't my real home, or so I am told.  I am a very  cooperative
older lady and I do not have any bad habits!  Well, maybe one, I snore a little.  I love to snuggle and cuddle, I come
when called except for once, and I am always very happy.  That time that I refused to "come when called", was
really not my fault, foster Mom wanted me to have a Bath!  She just doesn't understand that I do not like to get my
feet wet!  I even set my feet and still I wound up getting a bath.  I smelled very pretty afterward and I am so soft and
silky feeling, which is the way a lady should be. So if you like a snuggly, cuddly and very friendly boxer lady, I am
available
!

3/9/06 -
I have never had an easier time medicating a dog than I do Chelsea.  She  is a dream! I call her and she
comes and plunks her wiggle-butt down right in front  of me, I then tell her what a good girl she is and proceed to
open her eye and squeeze the necessary medication in.  After a month of treatment her eye ulcer isn't healing as
well as it should, so Dr. Matt has decided that she needs to have the "grid" treatment.  This happens next
Wednesday.  I am sure she will behave just as well for the staff while she is in the hospital for her surgery.  She
is also having a mammary gland tumor removed at the same time.

Chelsea is so funny:  you just look her way and if her eyes are open that tail starts going full speed.  She has a
grumbly/hum/purr sound that she uses when she is having a good time or is pleased about something.  At first
Abbi thought she was growling and was ready to put her in her place.  Now it is a normal sound and Abbi ignores
it, unless she isn't getting enough attention herself and has to squeeze in between Chelsea and whoever is
petting.

I might add that Chelsea has lost a good solid 3 pounds and no longer looks quite so much like a sausage.  She
is quite active and plays with the other dogs a bit, besides trying to find the squirrels that frequent our yard.  She is
acquiring a "shape"
!

2/28/06 -
I find it difficult to believe that she has been here a whole month, has had no accidents in the house and
gets along very well with other dogs as well as all 4 cats. She is a very charming older lady. She is still  very
dedicated to ridding my kindling bin of squirrels and is  disappointed at not finding any. She is smart enough to
check out the  trees to see if that is where the vicious beast is!

Chelsea has the "head flip" down pat! For those of you that don't know what a "head flip" is, you are missing out.
You are doing something and dog wishes to be petted: enter dog, place nose and head as far under arm, wrist or
hand as possible and "flip"! You are bing told to get busy petting!

Her eye ulcer is healing very nicely and she is such a doll to medicate. She sits still and lets me apply the ointment
with very little argument. She has lost a good solid two pounds, but I think she has also gained some muscle.
When she first came she needed assistance getting into the Escape. Now she just jumps in.   The lump on her
back leg was checked by Dr. Matt. She has apparently had it for a long time. She also has old doggie warts and
other bumps, all things older boxers usually get.  The vet was not concerned about these at this time and said to
just watch them for any major changes.  She is a really deserving and sweet girl.  She will make someone a very
nice companion!

2/12/06 - Chelsea just loves the snow!  She is a Buffalo girl.  She ran and ran and tried to get Abbi to play with her.
Abbi was busy doing something else, and Sam and Clara were having a little play session.  Chelsea is
just so funny in the snow:  she was biting it, burying her feet, and in general just being a 9 year old "pup"
!

2/5/06 -
Chelsea has been with us for a week and is doing very well.  She is on a diet and hopefully 10 of her 70
lbs. will soon be in her past.  She shouldn't weigh more than 60 according to the vet.  She is also now up to date
on her shots, and not only heartworm negative, but Lyme negative.  She walks very nicely on leash, has had some
obedience training and it shows:  she has a wonderful recall, will sit on command, loves to ride, and is a
pleasure to have around.  She isn't letting the others push her around, but she isn't pushy either.  She enjoys being
able to run about the yard, and it is difficult to believe that she is 9 yrs. old with her chasing Sam around.  She was
a good as could be when I trimmed her nails yesterday.  She is also very clean and hasn't had any accidents at all
since she has been here, which included being left for 6 hours Monday!  She does plant herself in front of anybody
that has food in hopes of "sharing", which isn't happening!    Chelsea is a very affectionate girl
!

1/30/06
- Chelsea is a very sweet dog, shows no interest in my cats and is getting along very well with everyone.
She seems to like  everybody: men, women, and children. She had the house to herself last night.  She did go
upstairs, but  didn't want to stay gated in the bedroom with us.  She loves treats,  but she isn't going to get too
many for awhile because she is quite  overweight for her frame.  She will be seeing the vet later this week or next
to get checked  over and get a true weight and recommendations for her diet. She doesn't mind going out in the
snow at all and is very pleasant to  have around.  She "talks" in a sort of grumbly way and keep it up as long as one
wishes to talk with her.  She sits, speaks (quietly),  comes,  can catch and does drool a tiny bit and I will find out
more as time goes by.

1/28/06 - Chelsea & Harley's owner was heartbroken to give them up, but had no choice due to unforseen
changes in his life.  They both were VERY loved and due to their age will be looking for seperate homes as it is
hard enough to find someone to adopt ONE senior boxer, yet alone TWO together.  We want these gals to get in
their new homes as soon as possible, so they can settle down again.
