UPDATE 6/28/07 - Hi SCBR! I just wanted to update you on our little girl Ceira. She has now been
with our family for 6 wonderful months! She is a great companion and always has lots of boxer wiggles
and kisses ready to share.
We recently started Advance Obedience Training which I’m proud to report Ceira is excelling
through. The trainers even say with a little more work they see no reason why she wouldn’t be able
to earn the Canine Good Citizens Award.
We love our little girl. Thanks again SCBR!
UPDATE 1/20/07 - Ceira has been with our family for a month now and has adjusted very well. She is
such a great dog! After the first week, "which I'll just call getting to know you week" she fell into the
rhythm of our home as if she has been with us all of her life. She is extremely smart and obedient. She
gets along well with our other pets. She actually watches over our male Bull Mastiff to make sure he's
ok, and ignores our cat.
When Ceira first came to us she was a little under weight. Ceira has a good appetite and has put on
some weight. She really looks good now.
Ceira absolutely "loves" car rides and long walks. She has become my little buddy. Everyone who has
met her completely falls in love with her.
Ceira is a great addition to our family! Thanks SCBR!
12/18/06 - Ceira has been adopted!
12/4/06 - Where is Ceira's new home? What more can I say about this wonderful, gentle, big girl?
Ceira is super sweet & would be one of those I would keep in a second if I needed another dog & if I
was home enough for her. She's awesome with the cats & other dogs (Sandi, Jedi & Ceira were piled
on one dog bed last night when I was on the computer!). I feel so bad for her as she has such
separation anxiety about being alone that she barks & drools in her crate(but never breaks out). She is
dehydrated every day I get home from work & loses lots of weight daily. Then on the weekends when
I'm home all the time, she gains back the weight & re-hydrates completely from the week of stress. :(
Ceira is the perfect companion. She loves to sleep on the corner of the bed at bedtime, will lay next to
your feet on a dog bed while you are on the computer or watching TV. She even cares enough to
check up on you when you try to close the bathroom door! She has such an expressive face, and those
EYES! She will nudge the door open & looks at you as if she was saying "Ummm, you okay?! I
couldn't see you & thought the Boogeyman got you!". She's not annoying though, just a nice shadow
that gently follows you to make sure you are alright. She loves to go for rides in the car & is wonderful
waiting for you to get back. I have no issues with her at all & though I will be sad to see her go, I will
be very happy that she goes to a home where someone is home more often or can take her with them
to work. Make Ceira's wishes come true & be her true forever home. She so deserves it.
11/6/06 - Ceira is as sweet as ever & fits in like she lives here (which means time for her to move on!).
She likes to cuddle next to my other dogs (I caught all 3 of them on one big dog bed the other night!) &
she sleeps soundly in my room with the others at night. She has started coming up to the corner of the
end of the bed at night, which is a nice foot warmer for me as my 2 boxers like to sleep on each side of
my body. This is one awesome girl & she's ready to go home. Not one issue with me or my animals &
she has the biggest lips to mush & kiss! She loves it when you pet her soft ears & rub her muzzle, she
will do big circles rubbing against you & coming back for more loving. Ceira is hoping to go home
soon to her forever family. Don't miss out on this sweetie!
10/19/06 - Ceira is packed & ready to go to her new home & cannot figure out why her new family has
not called for her yet. She is a very mellow girl & loves to be petted & hugged. She does not seem to
care about laying on the bed or couch, but LOVES all the dog beds. She circles about 20 times on the
fluffy beds, trying to find that PERFECT spot! :) She cracks me up when she does this as she just
looks sooooo intent on the project & then lays down eventually & sighs, like she's saying "phew! What
a workout!". LOL Oh & yes, you heard me right, this big floppy faced girl finally talked me into letting
her sleep in the bedroom with the rest of my gang! She hates being crated & really stresses out about
it whenever I leave her or was crating her even at night. Now she just sleeps on the dog bed at the foot
of the bed & is happy as can be & is sound asleep all night. This morning she didn't even want to get up
when I was & the other dogs, I had to tell her to get her lazy-behind up! LOL
Ceira will be happiest in a home with someone home more often or that can take her in the car
everywhere. If you work part time, work at home, are stay at home parent or retired, she will be a
great companion for you. She will need to be crated when you leave her home alone, but she does cry
& bark about it so if you live in a condo or apartment, she would not be the best for you (or at least not
for your super close neighbors!). :) Don't let a little crate anxiety turn you off of this sweet girl. She is
so deserving of a great home & I hope she finds it soon.
10/5/06 - Ceira is doing very well & has the routine down here perfectly now. She gets along fine with
my dogs & cats & is doing well in her crate. She's never had an accident in her crate, though she will let
you know she is not thrilled about being left in there when I go to work. I have not seen any dominance
issues personally, but I also do not let her get into the situations where that can happen (I have 2 now
like her, so I know how to work with them to not get in that problem). She is a very cute & sweet girl
& loves to go for car rides too. Ceira is waiting to hop into your car to go home for the last time.
10/2/06 - Ceira came to us Saturday from a local shelter as she had been returned their after being
adopted from the shelter 6 months prior. The family said she had a few snapping instances in the last
month & they did not want to work with her. The instances we were told about (ex: snapped when
told to move off somewhere) appear to be dominance issues and not having it established in the house
that Ceira is below the family in pack order. With some obedience training to help teach both her &
her new owner(s) how to work with Ceira would be a great benefit for all (also no complete pushovers!
LOL!).
Ceira is a very beautiful girl & is friendly meeting new people. She is not happy about being crated, but
she is learning that at this time it is needed. Hopefully she can find a home where she would be able to
learn to be left in part of the house or with someone home a little more than me. She has met my cats &
dogs briefly already & did not seem to care either way about any of them. Ceira is still new here
though & a little nervous about all the changes, so I will give her a little more time to adjust & see how
she is. The shelter said she did well meeting both male & female dogs there & no issues yet with
meeting several other dogs while in rescue either. Because of her possible dominance, we would not
place Ceira in a home with little kids, but she was said to be good with kids a little older. More
updates soon on this sweet girl!
