| 6/14/06 - It is with a very heavy heart that I let everyone know that Buster has gone to the Rainbow Bridge. His dog aggression was too severe for him to overcome--he was the type that would have gone through a screen door or window to get to a dog outside. It took many weeks to make this decision, but it came down to we could not safely or with good concious place Buster in another home. It was very hard to do this as he was so sweet with people. It just makes me so mad at the people that did this to him. Run free Buster with my other foster babies that could not make it either & where you no longer have to fight to live your life. 6/7/06 - Buster the bouncing boy should have been called TIGGER! He can bounce straight up & down at least 3 feet in the air, like he has springs in his feet! He gets so excited when playing with a toy or feeding time or time to go out & will jump up & down in place, not on you, just up & down! It makes me laugh, though I am also trying to teach him to settle down & not show his excitement so much as he's almost knocked himself out a few times as he does not pay attention to what is above him when he jumps! LOL Buster is eating very well & slowly putting on some weight. He may be 6 years old, but he sure does have the energy & spunk of a 3 year old. He LOVES to carry anything in his mouth & if he cannot find a toy nearby, he has substituted an empty soda bottle! He is perfect with my 3 cats & has never had an issue with them. Buster would be best with a little bit older kids as he is pretty rough when playing & does not know how to be really gentle when taking toys from him. He never tries to hurt you or bite, he's just so excited he will bounce & grab for it & can be a little obsessive about getting the toy. This is a very nice boy & he would be happy to go home with you so he can get comfy in his new home. 5/16/06 - Buster is doing very well here at his new foster home. He was not able to live with the male boxer in the last foster home, so he is now here. Buster is a very sweet boy with people. He loves to carry one of his favorite toys around with him (either a squeeky or fluffy toy) & will pick it up when you ask him to go get his toy. He is wonderful in the car & LOVES going for car rides. He even waited nicely in the car for me when I did some shopping on Saturday (& lost track of the time!). He just kept my seat warm & no damage at all to the car & he didn't even dig in the trash, like mine would have! LOL Buster met my cats without any trouble, he was just very curious at first, & had this look on his face like he was saying "I've never been able to sniff one of THOSE before!". After a few karate chops from the dreaded giant Samaurai Kitty(aka: "Dude"), Buster learned to give those furballs their own space! He now will walk around them & try to avoid too much contact with them. He will be fine to live with kitties as I think he knows who really runs the house in Animal Kingdom! :) I do have to agree that Buster is not going to be able to live with any male dogs & probably would be best as either an only dog or to live with a submissive female dog. We do not know much about his past home life, except that both he & his father were unneutered & fought. We just had Buster neutered and he is heartworm negative and I will be worming him as the other two dogs that he lived with had worms. He is skinny too & lost some weight since he came in, but he is a good eater so I think it's just his body is fighting for the food right now. One of his eyes is a little cloudy, like a cataract is forming, really the only sign of his age you notice as he acts & looks very young otherwise. It does not bother him though & he appears to see fine. Buster is VERY strong on the leash & does need work with that, but he appears to be a smart boy so I think he will be easy to train. He is crate trained & will go right in when I tell him it is dinner time (I feed him in his crate to avoid issues with the other dogs). He has the CUTEST face & loves to be petted & snuggled. If you have the right home for Buster, don't delay, he's a sweetie! 4/26/06 - Buster is a muscular, athletic man! He can jump striaght up in the air like one of those African deer--I think a Gemsbok. He is as sweet as can be with me and with Thyme, but he and my male, Beau, can not be in the same room together. His attitude toward other males amy improve when his hormones go away after his neuter. But for now I would say that he is NOT good with male dogs. I am happy to report that Buster has had not a single accident in the house. We had a couple of marking 'spritzes' the first day, however I expect that from male dogs when they first arrive, neutered or not. He has a good appetite, takes treats gently, and loves to play! He has his favorite stuffed 'monkey', and he found the balls in the back yard. He chases, and retrieves, but does not give them up for another chase, yet. He loves being petted. Today in the back yard he was rolling and rolling on his back on the grass. He seemed to like belly rubs, too. My kitty has not been home for me to see how he reacts to her. I can say that he is far less interested in my chickens than Thyme is! I read his paperwork from the shelter, and he is UTD on all his shots and he is Heartworm free. I'm going to try and get his neuter to happen soon so that he will be ready for his forever home. This boy is sweet and gorgeous, and he might be the right dog for you! 4/24/06 - Buster has arrived at the Riverview Boxerhostel. He is a gorgeous chestnut fawn with a black mask, cute white toes and a white chest, and natural ears with a docked tail. He was surrendered to a shelter with his Mom & Dad, Roxanne & Zeus as their owners were being evicted. He spent the night at a temporary foster home because I was away for the weekend, and they took some wonderful pictures that show how handsome and friendly he is! Here, he spent the night quietly in his giant crate (he is a good-sized fellow and quite muscular). This morning he was happy to go out and do his business. He chowed down a small breakfast, which he was not the slightest bit defensive about. I could pet him all over and even touch the dish while he was eating! He has been wagging his nub through the kitchen baby gates at both Beau and Thyme. So I let him meet Thyme this afternoon when I came home from work and they are frolicking together without any issues. I hope they start to play together, because he needs the energy removal and she has been looking for a playmate since she came here. Buster will go in for a neuter next week. |
