Zeus

UPDATE 8/7/05 - Hi All, Things are going great with the two new pups!! We have not
had any issues or accidents in the house when they are alone and they seem to be
adjusting well. They both enjoy their walks, car rides and especially going down to the
lake. Zeus can't get enough of the boat rides. Zeus had a little issue with our sister's
dog, but they were introduced the first day that we had him. It is not around three
weeks later and we are going to try it again because we feel like his settled in now. All in
all we are very happy and are enjoying our new boys immensely!!

7/05 - Zeus has been adopted!

07/13/05 - A little update on our buddy Zeus. His personality is coming out more, he
loves riding in my car, loves fetching a ball and he plays really nicely with my dog and my
kids! I may have to re-state my first impression on his leash abilities though: he walks
best ALONE, I brought him out with my dog and he pulled away alot and wasn't using
his 'listening ears' very well! Your best bet is to just walk him first if you have more
than one dog and then go back for the rest! He is adjusting well at my house and eats
regularly with no problems, he is also very respectful when us humans are eating- no
begging at the table for him, he just lies on the floor seemingly disinterested unless you
tell him its okay to eat scraps, then he just starts drooling all over the place! Thats
another thing, he is a big drool-hound, I have actually started wiping his mouth after he
drinks his water otherwise he makes the floor slick! Keep your toilet lids down too, he is
a toilet slurper from way back! He hasn't gotten comfortable enough to bark yet so I
haven't really heard a peep out of him, he seems to be very laid back and really a sweet
dog! I don’t have to crate him at all and I generally leave both dogs for 6-8 hours a
day while I am at work and so far, no accidents or destructive behavior, they even leave
the trash alone! If you like low-key dogs who's biggest concern is going for a ride in
your car, a nice walk and being with you- you will love Zeus, I think he would do great in
either a multi-dog home or just by himself. I will write an update on him after his vet
visit on Thursday!

7/11/05 - First of all, I just wanted to thank Terry for volunteering to do the transport and for getting Zeus to us safely
this weekend! Zeus is a owner surrender, his brother Bosco is on this site as well but in a different home. All you
have to do is look at the pictures of Bosco to get an idea of what Zeus looks like, they are almost twins! He is a very
handsome fawn with a gorgeous face and personality to match! I was reading what his owner had to say about him
and from what I read and what I have observed so far, this dog is a sweetheart! You can tell he misses his brother
Bosco, as he was a little sad yesterday.

From what I read on his surrender paperwork, he is crate trained, likes cats and kids from toddler to teens! I took
Zeus for a walk yesterday and WOW, was I impressed! First of all, he walks like a show-dog. What I mean by that is
he practically "prances" as he is walking, very light on his feet and doesn't pull at all, which surprised me since he
is a big dog (75lbs and a tall boxer)! He even HEELED when I told him too, which I wish my dog would do but I
could never quite get him to master. Someone had to have trained him well, he is great on the leash! He is a good
listener too and doesn't run out the door when someone comes home. He did well last night once he found his
bed, ate his breakfast with no problem and is now home in the air-conditioned house with my dog and teenager. I
will be bringing him to the vet this week for a heartworm test and a few shots that he needs and to look at a boo-
boo on his ear that looks infected. Will update as well get to know him, once the pics go up I am sure he will be
scooped right up!
