UPDATE 8/21/05 - Well, we have great news, Angie continues to be the best dog ever. She is very
healthy, lovable, sweet, and smart. She has graduated from obedience class, and knows all her
commands, we are just fine tunning them know. She is such a lovable dog, that every time the trainer
tried to teach here something she would roll over onto her back so she could get her belly rubbed
first. Everyone should rescue a dog so they can be as happy as we are. Thanks again SCBR!
UPDATE 5/22/05 - Hi Again Everyone, I just wanted to give our 3 month update on Angie. Things
couldn't be going better. She continues to be a great dog. She was spayed and had her stitches out
and she feels great. Angie never touched her stitches so she never had to wear that big cone. In July
Angie startes obedience classes even though she knows all her commands and heels on the leash.
Well thats all for now thanks again to everyone at SCBR.
UPDATE 4/21/05 - Hi Everyone: I just wanted to check in and tell everyone what a great dog Angie
(Zelda)is. First thing she is finally done with all her shots and is to be spayed on May 4. Dispite
everything this little girl has been through she is a very healthy pup. We love her, she is great with my
two daughters ages 10 and 7. Angie is very smart also, I have obedience trained many dogs but she
is by far the smartest and easiest to train. Once she is feeling better she will also go to Hal Wheelers
dog training school. Angie is also house trained and is very good in all the rooms ( no chewing YAH).
Angie knows all her commands, like sit, down, and heels great on a leash. We are working on stay
that's a tough one. She is also great about her crate, she sleeps through the night in it with no
problems and if I have to go out during the day for a little while she is fine. I can't say enough great
things aboout her, Angie is a great addition to are family. That's all for now, we will be in touch.
Thanks again everyone at SCBR.
2/21/05 - Zelda has been adopted!
2/9/05 - We have super duper fabulous news to report....the girls have fully recovered and get their
first vaccinations on Thursday. They are no longer contagious and will be ready for adoption this
weekend. We have been getting them used to wearing collars and walking on a leash. Luckily it has
been pretty warm here (Buffalo winters aren't really that bad!) and they enjoy going outside. They
seem to be enjoying their new found freedom and good health.
Chloe and Ruby love to play, play, play with each other and the other dogs. Zelda is great with the
other dogs but tends to be more of a people dog. She always looking for me to pick her up and carry
her around. Luckily since she's the smallest of the pups I can hold her in one hand and do what I
need to do with the other hand. The girls got another nail trim today, it went much better than the
previous one. There was minimal screeching and howling. Mostly just a bit of squirming, but we
managed to get the job done.
All the pups are very well socialized with both people and other dogs. They love everyone and
everything. As much as I am going to miss my little Power Puff Girls they are ready to move onto
their forever homes. They need families that will devote time to their training and allow them to mature
into the best possible companions.
2/3/05 - Zelda is recovering well from her horrible bout with Parvo. She is back to her fiesty self. She
is eating like a champ but still needs to put on the few pounds she lost during her illness. Zelda is a
loveable little pup, she's the smallest of the 3 but she makes up for her size with her attitude. She
keeps her sisters in line and lets them know that they can't boss her around just because she is the
smallest.
We still have a few more days to watch for any setbacks. The vet feels that if they do not have any
setbacks by Monday they will be considered "cured" and no longer contagious. They can be
vaccinated the end of next week or early the following week and ready for adoption. All the pups
have already had their first deworming.
1/28/05 All I can say is Zelda is a little fighter....must be her *tough* name. She is in the worst
condition of all the pups. It is so sad to see her loosing weight so quickly. We are hoping we caught
the Parvo fast enough that she makes a full recovery. We did see some small improvements this
morning. She did drink some water on her own and had the strength to fight with us while she was
getting her fluid injections. Zelda is getting the best possible care and medications thanks to SCBR
and a fabulous vet. We just hope that's enough to pull her through. She goes back to the vet today
for another check-up. I hope we get good news and is well enough that I can continue to care for her
at home. Keep little Zelda in your thoughts and prayers.
1/24/05 - Zelda is one of Kiki's pups. She is a happy playful little girl. Zelda has a white spot on her
nose and white on all 4 paws. She is the explorer of the group and is happy to be the first to try
anything. She is a friendly well adjusted little puppy.
Zelda will be ready for adoption in about 2 weeks. She will need a family where someone is home
most of the time and has the energy/time to devote to training/socializing her. We are not 100% sure
of the pups parentage. We know Mom is a purebred Boxer but we are unsure about dad. All the
pups look like little boxers, with some black on their tails. There is the chance that dad was a Boxer
Mix if not a pure Boxer.
