UPDATE 11/27/06 - Hello all :) I can't believe that a whole year has gone by so quickly and I can't imagine a day
without having Tyson with us. I can't even begin to express how much we love him. We have been thru a tough
period with his ACL surgery and having the "lump" on his foot removed (thankfully it wasn't cancer)but all in all its
been a wonderful year with him. We recently bought a house with 3 acres and he loves running the whole thing.
He goes out with us all day when we work in the yard and sleeps like a rock at night from all his hard playing. We
recently adopted Snowball and the her and Tyson have become instant friends. You can't let one go anywhere
without the other :) Tyson likes having another dog to play & cuddle with which is really nice to see and it makes
us happy. Both dogs go to work with Joe almost everyday...they have sort become the company's mascots. It's
funny to see Joe in the truck with the two dogs and all his tools...I think we might need a bigger truck! Until next
time thanks to everyone at SCBR. There will be more updates on Snowball to follow :) Hopefully some pictures
too as soon as I figure out the camera.
UPDATE 6/1/06 - Hi all! Sorry I'm a little late on Tyson's six month update. Tyson loves the new house and is
doing great. It makes Joe and I so happy to see him exploring his new yard. He looks wonderful and has even put
on
a few pounds! He just cracks us up all the time with all the silly things he does. He is soooo curious about the
little brook we have and all the little toads hopping around the garden & yard. He's so cute he will find a toad and
follow it all around the yard. However, we are going to have our hands full for the next couple of months trying to
keep him quiet because he is having ACL surgery today. I've never felt as guilty in my life as I did this morning
when I had to leave him at the vets :( As soon as Joe and I get out of work today we will be going to see how he is
doing. So if anyone has been thru this before and knows how to keep a crazy two year old boxer quiet let me know.
I'll try to keep everyone posted on how he does after surgery today!
UPDATE 12/26/05 - Well we have had Tyson for a month now and we love him even more then ever!!!! Christmas
went great and Tyson got lots of toys and treats, he's so spoiled that it isn't even funny. I think he has more toys
then he is ever going to need, however we are still looking for a chew bone that he can't destroy in under an hour :)
Obedience is going very well, Tyson has done great, we think maybe he had some obedience training at an earlier
point in his life. He has made friends with my parents lab and they love to run around the back yard chasing each
other. They seem to get along really well on their play dates. I've taken Tyson to the horse farm with me a few
times in the last month and he has done pretty well with it. He is still learning about how to act around horses and
what not to do. He was so funny the first day I took him, he went into the barn and he wasn't happy until he had
looked in all the stalls and met every single horse in the barn! We have also found that Tyson loves to chase the
little light from the laser pen. He's so funny after we play with him because he will run around the yard or the
house looking for the little light. Tyson seems to be doing well overall, he's putting on weight and muscle and
starting to fill out. His real personality is also starting to come out in full force and he's just such a character! He
just makes me smile all the time and he's such a wonderful dog. I'll keep everyone updated on Tyson in the
following months and if anyone knows of a chew bone that might last him more then a hour let me know :) Happy
Holidays!
UPDATE 12/7/05 - Well we've had Tyson for about a week and a half and we love him!!!!! So far he has been great!
However, he still hasn't quite figured out that the cats don't really want to play with him, not that he hasn't tried LOL
:) But he seems to respect the fact that the cats want nothing to do with him. He has lots of boxer wiggles for my
fiancee and I every morning and when we come home from work. This is our first boxer and we just can't get over
how funny it is when he's all curled up wiggling back and forth AND trying to run around us at the same time!!! He's
so funny if the Joe and I are in different rooms of the house, he'll run back and forth to each room making sure that
neither one of us has gone away, he's much happier when we are in one room where he can keep an eye on us.
We crated him at night the first week we had him, but this past weekend we let him sleep in the bedroom to see
how he would be and he was a perfect angel. He never once even looked at the cats and I think he slept better
then the two of us considering he was taking up far more then his share of the bed! That only lasted one night, we
went out and bought Tyson a bed of his own for next to our bed which he seems just as happy with. He seems to
be adjusting very well and just wants to be loved all the time!!!! We are so happy with him and we just can't thank
SCBR enough for such a wonderful dog!!!! We will keep everyone one posted on how Tyson does in the next
couple of weeks when we start obedience training.
11/27/05 - Tyson has been adopted!
11/19/05 - Tyson has arrived safely at his foster home in Maine and he seems like a wonderful boy. He is a little
nervous due to all the changes in his life but he is still full of wiggles and wants to play. He has already met my
easy going old male boxer and they got along fine. I will hold off a few days before I introduce him to the rest of the
gang. He has also met my son and seems to love children. I will update him again after I get to know him a little
better.
