His health has slowly been deteriorating and he has lost a lot of weight, though he eats well still. He is also having lots of accidents in the house, more so than before. We may have to make a decision soon with Tyson & how his quality of life is. Please keep Tyson & his foster home in your thoughts. 04/05/05 - Poor Tyson has made another move to another foster home. This poor boy deserves a break. All he wants is a home to call his own and a good meal, is that to much to ask? Tyson is sweet and I mean sweet. He loves attention, wants to go for rides and nice walks. He will be faithful to you until the end. Tyson is stressed out in rescue with so many other dogs around. He really needs some time to himself. If you have a nice dog bed and a full bowl of food this boy would love to join you. He so deserves to spend his last years in a place to call his own. 3/21/05 - I took Tyson to the Boxer Rescue Awareness Day (BRAD) this past Saturday at Pet Quarters in NH & he was so happy for the adventure! I found out even more so how much of a snuggler & sweet boy he is. Most of the ride down (about 45 minutes) Tyson just wanted to lean his head against my chest & snuggle while I drove. Good thing I have an automatic for my car so I had a free hand to pet him with as he snuggled! LOL Did I forget to say Tyson loves to ride?! He makes a wonderful co-pilot & we got many laughs & waves as we drove as he is a big boy & stands out with those beautiful eyes & white body & no ears. Tyson did great at the BRAD & loved everyone he met, from little babies to older people & a lady with a cane. He wanted to play with several dogs & he met a few younger boxers, but they found he plays very rough with play growling & a bat of the paw (he "boxes" a lot!) & they would get a little intimidated by all that. One funny thing happened with an inexperienced young boxer that had not played with other boxers yet. He was very shy & nervous at first with Tyson & his rough play. When his parents brought him back over about 20 minutes later to see Tyson again, their boxer tried to initiate play boxing with Tyson (he even seemed to be TRYING to be super confident!). Well, as soon as Tyson bounced back at him with his paws & a play growl, the poor young boxer lost control & peed himself!! He kept walking around & peeing, very submissively & did not know what to do with himself! We all laughed at how their "tough" boxer boy got the pee scared out of him by an "Old Man" just trying to! Boy was his Dad "proud"! LOL No one who met Tyson could believe he was really 10 years old. He bounces around jumping feet off the floor when he is excited, loves to get "wild & crazy" when he wants something & when he got bored & thought it was time to go, he would jump around & gently grab the leash & try to pull me along! We had the people in the store laughing at his antics & goofiness. Please do not let Tyson's age scare you. He is VERY sweet, loving & an all around wonderful boy who will make you very happy. He would do best as an only dog or with a submissive female medium or large dog (he seemed to think small dogs were all cats this past weekend & was too rough with them). We are looking for either a permanent home or a long term foster home that fits these needs. Please hurry & help Tyson so he can get a lot more cuddle time than he does now at my house! I feel so bad as unfortunately he has to be crated a lot due to my work schedule, the cats & my other male dogs. :( 3/14/05 - Tyson has settled in well to the routine here until we can find the right foster home for him. He gets along with my female boxer, Sandi, but does not like my male boxer, Sebastian, at all. Tyson also has recently tried to start things with Condor, my German Shepherd. I think Tyson will be happiest as an only dog or with an easy going female & no cats. He loves to be with you & with kids large & small & is full of energy for an older guy. He will settle down though & relax & does well in his big wire crate as needed. Tyson is not a trouble out in the house as he is not a chewer or destructive at all. He loves to lay on his dog bed & relax when he can. Don't you have a spot in your home for this good old boy? He makes a wonderful companion! 3/11/05 - Tyson has temporarily moved to the Boxer Oasis until we can find either his permanent home or another long term foster home. His foster doggie brother & sister in his original foster home were not willing to continue to share their parents with Tyson, so he needed to move on. I took him in to just check him out with cats & turns out his is NOT able to live with kitties. He is a very sweet boy & loves kids of all ages & all people. Tyson is 10 years young & has lots of spunk still in him, yet he will settle on a dog bed or in a wire crate when you go out. 02/16/05 -Tyson is doing so well. He has been on a extra strength glucosamine supplement since he arrived and he is moving so much better and seems to be much more comfortable. He has his bursts of puppy playfulness and is quite a character and so much fun to watch and play with. He loves to follow his foster dad around outside with his foster brother, Mugsie. He also loves his big cozy bed, he cannot get up on the people bed so we really padded a doggie bed to make him as comfortable as possible on the floor. If it is after 8PM, you can find Tyson in the bedroom lying on his bed sound asleep. Anyone would be very lucky to have Tyson in their family. He is an all around good dog and just a big white teddy bear. This boy still has alot of life left in him and alot of love to give! 01/25/05 Tyson is doing very well. His vet appointment showed he has nothing major going on. His drinking water alot may just indicate aging kidneys. We monitor his water and don't allow any before being crated for awhile or before bedtime and it has worked out well. No accidents in the house and his bedding is dry. We just let him out every two or three hours when we are home and he is out of his crate and it works out well. He goes right out and does his business and comes right back in. He seems very grateful that we are so in tune with his needs now. Tyson is such a smart boy and just loves everyone. He would be a nice companion for someone who would love a wonderful, cuddly, senior boy and give him a permanent home to call his own for the rest of his life. He is a big sweet teddy bear and would be a wonderful addition to any family. 01/16/2005 Sweet Tyson boy has a vet appointment tomorrow morning. Please say a prayer that he will not have anything major wrong. He is so loving and has found his way into our hearts already. I gave him a bath and he was so good and just let me wash and rinse him. I also cut his toe nails and he was very good then, too. He has started showing his personality more and more and has been running around the yard a bit outside and was playing and throwing his toy up in the air and running around and around with it. He can be such a clown. He does still have quite a bit of energy for 10, but then he is tired after and loves to curl up on his bed next to our boxer boy, Mugsie, and snooze away. He seems to be feeling a little better lately and has had less wheezing attacks. We are still concerned about the excessive need for water. I will post more when I know more after his appointment. 01/13/2005 Tyson is settling in well here and getting used to the other dogs. He does seem to have a few possible health issues that have come to light. He gets spells where he coughs or wheezes and his whole body is wracked. It lasts for just a minute or two, and he is fine after, but it is very distressing for him. Also, he is drinking alot of water and eating snow when outside. Of course, he needs to go outside often, too. He goes the minute we let him out and then comes right back in. He is very good about it. He had one accident on the floor and he looked petrified that we would be angry with him. I think he really got scolded a ot when he would do that in his last home because he seemed panic stricken. We didn't say anything or scold at all. When I started to clean it up, he came over to me and put his paw on my hand while I wiped the floor as if to say "thank you for understanding." This boy is so sweet, we love having him here! 01/09/2005 Tyson has come to stay with us. He is a 10 year old white male boxer boy with a lot of love to give. Thank you to the people who pulled it together short notice to transport him to us. I know he appreciated your kindness toward him and giving your time to see he gets to a better place. Tyson was put in a shelter by his owners due to allergies in the family, and the shelter put him into rescue right away. With his age, the chances of him getting adopted from the shelter are slim. I don't think he would have fared well there for long either. Tyson is such a sweet boy and just loves everyone. He listens well and goes into his crate well, with a little whining after the door is shut, but he settles down after awhile and goes to sleep. I will write more as I get to know this sweetheart better. |
