UPDATE 4/13/05 - This is our 3 month update, OMG we can't believe 3 months has gone by already!
It actually seems like we've always had Tyson. That's how well he has fit into our home and how much
everyone loves him. He is such a good dog, we couldn't have asked for a better dog if we had created
him from scratch. We are attending obedience school now and he is doing wonderfully. He is gaining
weight slowly, he's up to 55 lbs now. This is a good weight for him. He looks great! We have no bad
things to report, only good. Tyson is the best!
UPDATE 2/5/05 - Tyson is awesome! We love him so much and he loves us. He took well to our
home immediately. We have had no issues or problems with him. He remains housebroken and
continues to do well in his crate. We are slowly trying to introduce him to the outside world. He is very
excitable, but we look forward to obedience training to help us with that. We do still have issues with
him barking and getting worked up when someone comes to the door. He is getting better though and
we hope obedience class will help with that too. It seems that if they don't ring the doorbell, he is ok.
He seems to enjoy all of our friends and relatives, especially the kids! He loves to go on walks and rides
in the car. He doesn't even mind baths! We took him for a vet visit last week and all is well. We started
him on his monthly heartworm prevention along with flea and tick prevention. He eats very well and we
are still trying to fatten him up. He weighed 50.5 lbs at the vet, but they didn't feel that was bad. Well, I
guess that's about it. We are so happy with Tyson that we have often considered adopting another
SCBR Boxer!
1/8/05 - Tyson has been adopted!
11/23/04 Well its day 10, November 23.. Tyson today is at the vet having his neutering taken care of.
He really is fitting in nicely here at our home. He is still a strong puller when going out on the leash but
for the most part he is doing well. He has only had a few occasional accidents in the house so that we
are still working on. He really is one big mush and doesnt think of anything to hop right on top of you
when you are on the couch or in your bed. He feels he should be right there with you by your side. He
is doing real well with the crate going in when you ask him to. He is starting to put on a few pounds so
he isnt looking as skinny as he was when he arrived. He would make a great family member as he
seems to want to please us and protect us. Almost too much. Im hoping he can find his forever family
soon so he can finally have a place to call home. He does know all the basic commands so he seemed
to have some sort of training in his day. He knows to sit, give paw, give other paw.. and lay down. He
is in great athletic shape and can handle lots of playtime outside, but then again, he can conk out on the
couch when you are ready to as well.
11/15/04 Well its day 3 of having Tyson. He is such a sweethert and thinks he is one big baby. He
thinks nothing of it to jump literally on your lap and lay there and fall asleep. He doesnt realize his size. I
took him for a car ride this afternoon to see how he was in the car. He was real excited and basically
went from seat to seat. I am trying more and more to crate him while we are home for a few minutes at
a time so hopefully he will not associate it as to only when we are out. As he really gets upset going in
and cries and whines. He is not a destructive dog, as far as getting into things in the house.. Im sure he
would be fine if we left him out freely while we were out,but being its only 3 days in, I will continue to
crate him.. More so for my cats to feel more comfortable with him. He seems to love them and only
wants to play, but his size scares them for now. He is doing real well eating regurlarly as we are trying to
fatten him up as he is real skinny. But overall on day 3 he is doing great and what a sweet boy he is. He
has his first vet appointment this coming friday where he will be looked over and given the necessary
shots. Then next week is his neutering appointment. Will keep you posted.
11/13/04 Tyson arrived to our home this afternoon. We have 2 children, ages 7 and 9 and he took to
them fine at the greeting. We have 2 cats who he saw and wanted to play and chase but our cats are
more afraid of him. He doesnt seem to be fazed by the cats. We take him outside on his leash often as
we arent used to what his routine is yet. He pulls quite a bit while being walked and he is a very strong
dog. He needs to work on the basic leash training. He always goes outside when taken. We did put him
in the crate 2 times while we went out and about and he went in hesitantly and whined as we left. He
was very happy to see us as we returned home with his tail wagging away as we left him out of the
crate. He is resting peacefully on one of our dog beds we have in house and seems very tired from such
a big day of newness. Will keep you updated.
