UPDATE 10/8/05 - Chilly greetings from Buffalo!
Been awhile, but here's the latest on Otto (fka Toby):
Otto quickly finished his basic obedience training, as he had been thru it before at some
point....he really does well except for his hysterical barking whenever someone comes to the
door.  My trainer suggested putting him in a sit/stay uneil he is re-leased, but it's very hard to get
his attention focused on me...he pretty much ignores me unless I hold his face inches away from
mine to put him into the down/stay!  But, aside from that, he seems to do well w/the obedience
stuff!
2 weeks ago he cut his front paw on God knows what and required 3 stiches...can you believe
the vet was able to stich him up WITHOUT pulling him under?!?!  My good boy! (Saved me about
there!) THey gave him a local for pain and a light sedative and he held still for her...a first for the
doc!  However, just so he didn't get a reputation for being too good, when the poor tech tried to
put a blanket into the crate w/ him while they waited for me to come get him, something scared
him and he lunged at the poor man!  Did not bite him, but definately wasn't playing...thevet said it
was a fear response and not to worry about it but I wanted to add it to his updates just in case!
I've not had any probs w/ aggression except for when people first come to the door...so perhaps
just a fluke thing?
He gets along so well w/ my mom's 3 dogs when we visit her in Cleveland, does well w/ my cats
here...really a great guy!
What else can I say about my sweetie? :)  Thanks again!

UPDATE 8/16/05 -  I hope this update gets to where its supposed to, as I guess the last one
didn't! Otto is doing great w/ his obedience training...it appears as though he's had training
before...either that or he's just REAL smart..(I like to go w/ that answer!) The only thing I'm really
worried about are his hips...he's had some limping issues lately w/ no apparant injury, so I took
him in yesterday and the vet can't find anything external... so he think's it the dreaded
dysplasia... I'm supposed to give him another week of rest before we x-ray to make sure it's not
something else...but I'm worried! In the past, the rescue has been able to provide vets' numbers
who could offer a discount on expensive things like this to rescue dogs...are these vets still
involved w/ SCBR? Please advise as I've never had to deal w/ this one...other than this Otto is in
great health and is adjusting well in his new home w/ me! Thanks!

6/05 - Toby has been adopted!

6/16/05 - Toby just arrived and is settled into his crate for now.  He seems to remember the
house and the other dogs but we will let him settle in for tonight.  Will update in a couple of days.
