3/5/05 - TicTac has moved on to an all breed group that knows more about her breed mix to try to
place her. Let's all wish her luck in finding her new home!
3/2/05 - TicTac is adjusting to the routine at the Boxer Oasis very well. She is a very happy girl that
just LOVES to play. Strong chew toys are needed for this girl! After she settled in a couple of days,
she has shown that she has too much of a prey drive to live with kitties. TicTac is housetrained &
cratetrained & doing well in her large wire crate with blankies to curl up on when it is her turn for
being crated or when I am not home. She does the cutest "potty dance" in her crate when she knows
it is her time to go out. If I try to ignore her for even a few minutes once this has started, she is sure to
remind me she is waiting & getting a little impatient! LOL She does need a lot of training as she pulls
a lot on the leash & goes crazy wild when she finds something to play with. I think she will be too
much for little kids & other dogs as she just gets carried away when in her play mode. TicTac will
also need someone very experienced with the American Staffordshire Terrier breed, which is what
she appears to be mixed with. She will be going to the vet soon.
2/26/05 - TicTac was a stray to a shelter we work with & no one claimed her. Thank you to Melanie
& Karla who helped move her to Maine today. By her pictures, we knew she was a boxermix &
seeing her in person we think she is a very sweet Boxer/American Staffordshire Terrier mix. TicTac
has a docked tail, natural ears & appears to be about 2 years old. She will need to go to the vet to
be spayed, brought up to date on her shots & heartworm tested before she will be ready to go home.
TicTac was great today at Petco where we had a Boxer Rescue Awareness Day(BRAD). I kept her
behind the table & away from other dogs & little kids since we did not know how she would be since
she was a stray & just came out of a shelter. Well, she sure surprised all of us as she did GREAT!
She was wonderful with kids 10 & up that she met & all adults too. TicTac also never made a peep
about any of the many other dogs coming in & out of the store. She loved being petted & made of all
day. She is a big time puller on the leash, so I may be getting the gentle leader collar out to see if I
can get her under control for walking.
After the BRAD I dropped TicTac off at home & put her in her crate. She didn't want to go in at
first, but with a shove she was in. I came home a few hours later & she was doing fine. She met one
of my cats briefly when we came in the house, but she made a point of ignoring him. I will work with
her more on introductions with the cats once she has settled in more. Pictures to come soon on this
sweet girl!
