UPDATE 9/12/05 - Storm is doing very well - and he's as handsome as ever (he must be the boxer
equivalent of Brad Pitt - sexiest boxer alive, because everywhere we go, people stop us and tell us how
handsome he is).  Storm had a fun summer -- he went swimming a lot (chased seagulls right into the
water).  Also, he learned a new trick -- instead of just taking a treat quickly, my husband taught him how
to 'take it NIIIIICE'; meaning, he opens his mouth in slow motion and sticks his tongue out in slow motion,
he even chews slowly -- it is the funniest thing.  I can't believe he learned this, because he used to eat
entire hamburgers in one swallow, but after just a few nights of training, he never snatches food or treats
from our hands anymore -- HE'S SO SMART!!

UPDATE 5/6/05 - Stormy Boy is doing great -- happy and healthy. He LOVES to play outside, giving us
the puppy-dog eyes when it is time go to in. He does like to play keep away (he's never fetched and
returned yet, but that is part of his charm). He will go and get a ball/bone/toy/whatever and show it to us
and then hurry up and run away as if to say 'ha ha, you can't get it'. We bought him a frisbee, but so far all
he does is runs and catches it and then keeps on running. Storm is the best of both worlds, he's a tough
guy and likes to roughhouse, but he never jumps on anyone and he turns into a big baby as soon as anyone
gives him even the slightest scratching. He has never shown any aggression toward us or any visitors. Only
the stray cats that occasionally visit 'his' yard might think differently. He is proving to be an excellent
companion for our Grandfather ... they spend every day together walking around, watching TV, playing in
the yard and taking a few naps here and there. Grandpa says Storm is sneaky, and that he peeks around
corners to see what he's up to. They certainly keep each other entertained.

UPDATE 2/23/05 - Storm is happy and healthy.  We had
quite a turn of events the first week that we had him, but it has all worked
itself out fine.  As it turns out, Storm wasn't exactly our idea of crate
trained.  He totally freaked out in there, head-butting the door, barking,
crying, trembling and growling non-stop.  We we were afraid he would hurt
himself if we left him for an entire workday, so we brought him down to our
grandfather's house to stay while we went to work.  The first week, we were
back and forth every day until we realized that Storm and Grandpa were
becoming such good buddies.  While he's there, Storm has the run of the
house all day and also a huge yard to play in when it's nice outside.  In
the meantime, he is the source of enjoyment for an old man who would
otherwise be alone all day.  Other than the crate incident, Storm is a
wonderful dog.  He is already trained to sit, stay, lie down and shake hands
-- he's such a good listener! He has put on a few pounds, so his ribs aren't
showing anymore.  He loves to run and play ball and play with his frog toy
-- oh, and he loves to chase the light from the flashlight ... he goes crazy
trying to catch it!  His other favorite pasttime is backing up into my lap
to get scratched (subtle, he's not).  If I am sitting in a chair, he will
back his rear end up and get as close as he can -- then if I don't start
scratching right away, he turns his head and looks up as if to say
"well...what are you waiting for".  If I am on the floor, he will sit right
down on my lap like a cat.  He's a great dog, well-behaved and cute as can
be.

1/29/05 - Storm has been adopted!

1/24/05 - Storm has being doing much better now that he has settled in more.  I let Storm out with my 3
dogs the other night & he was fine with them & had no issues.  He is still very respectful of the cats too.  It
appears most of Storm's issues are when in a confined space, his wire crate.  Now he will only once in
awhile growl or bark at the cats or dogs if they go by his crate when he has food in there with him.  I have
not tried feeding him his meals outside his crate because as I would not trust him.

Storm spent a few hours on Saturday with me and several other SCBR volunteers & boxers at the local
Petco for our Boxer Rescue Awareness Day.  I really wanted to put him to the test and see how he would
react to a higher stress situation, but on leash.  Well, Storm surprised us all & did fantastic!  He LOVED
all the attention he was getting from everyone & would introduce himself by a quick sniff, then his back
end would WHIP around & he would lean against the latest person petting him.  He loves his back
scratched & would even start to talk as he was enjoying it so much!  People would stop & he would turn
around & look at them like "where are you GOING?!  I was enjoying that!".  Storm loved everyone he
met, from little kids to big kids to adults, though we still would not place him in a home with children due to
the food issues we have seen.  He gave out quite a few kisses that day too.  People kept saying how
sweet he was & how beautiful!

After the Petco event several of us went to have a late lunch.  Since it was below freezing with the wind
chill that day, I left the car running with the heater on for Storm for the hour we were in the restaurant.
When I got to the car I expected to see Storm curled up on one of the front seats all warm & cozy.  Well,
when I got back to the car to leave I about had a heart attack as I could not see him in the car!  I knew I
had locked the car so no one could steal him...  Turns out Storm was curled up under the steering wheel
by the foot pedals of the car, enjoying the blast of heat coming out at the feet area!  He was soooo toasty
warm, he did not even get up until I opened the car door & franticly called his name! LOL   Did I mention
Storm does well waiting for you when you do errands & leave him in a comfortable car?  :)   Storm is
being neutered & brought up to date on all his shots on 1/27 & will be ready to go home after that!

1/17/05 - Storm moved to the Boxer Oasis for fostering & evaluation as he was having some issues in his
other foster home with the kids.  Since he was a stray & having some food & toy issues, we will not be
placing him with children.   He is fine with my cats & I will try to introduce him to at least my female boxer
later this week to see how he does.  Storm does not do well when the other dogs come up to his crate,
but he did play well with a couple of dogs at his last foster home.  I will also try to get him out more this
week to see how he does.

01/12/05 We are still getting to know Storm. We did learn today that not only does he love the snow but
he loves balls. The only problem is he will not give them back. He thinks keep away is a great game.
Storm definitely has some guarding issues with his toys and food, we hope that working with him to let him
know he will always have food and that we will give back the toys it will get better. Storm is scheduled to
have a nip and tuck next week and a check up with the vet. I'm sure the vet will find nothing wrong with
this handsome boy. Hopefully Storm will be ready to find a forever family soon.

01/03/04 Storm is a stray to a large inner city shelter. He just arrived this morning due to an ice storm last
night he had to overnight at Aunt Julie's. He was a good boy, slept all night in his crate without a peep and
had no accidents. He met the cats which didn't seem to phase him much. He has a bad cough and needs to
be neutered and brought up to date.  We will update you as we get to know him better. Thanks to all the
volunteers that gave him a ride, he joined a transport and no one knew he was coming on. Luckily
everyone made room to get this boy safely into rescue. He appreciates it.
