UPDATE 12/23/05 - The boys arrived safely home in Batvia about 10:30 last night. Our trip home went great. The
boys where very curious at the beginning of the trip hutch more than starsky. We had many admirors in the traffic
we hit. Coming home went very smoothly. our son was here when the doggies got home and although he was
very sleepy, he was very excited to see that the doggies mommy and daddy have been talking about for so long
really do exist. He wasn't to keen on the doggie breath. We are going to callthe vet and have both the boys gums
looked at they smeel like there is an infection. It was late and we had had a long day so the boys and I all went to
bed. So far this morning has been great. Daddy took the boys for a walk around the block this morning and we
have been out playing in the snow already this morning. They are following me around like two shadows. The
boys seem to be very content. We have already taken some pictues they are so photogenic that we will have many
new ones. What a wonderful christmas. Thank you so much second chance boxer. we will update on the 29th
just wanted to let everyone know we arrived safely.
Merry christmas
12/22/05 - Starsky has been adopted!
12/9/05 - Just a little note to update my boys, Starsky and Hutch. They are wonderful!! and they just get more
wonderful every day!! These are two of the sweetest, most laid-back boxer boys I have ever met. They eat, they
sleep, they play and then they do it all again :) Both boys have begun to show their real personalities. They adore
my son and his girlfriend and everytime Ryan and Robyn walk in the door, there is excitement galore-but, even
then, these boys have the best manners ever! Yes, they sure know how to give an appropriate boxer greeting! but
all I have to do is say "no jumping" or "down" and they respond immediately. All they want is to love you up and
snuggle and play a little ball! They love all the toys around here and have begun to take them in their crates with
them. The boys get along VERY well, no squabbles, no disagreements over food or toys, nothing! They obviously
love each other very much and are so easy to live with that they are less trouble than most single dogs! Don't let
these boys get away! They would make a wonderful addition to a very lucky family!
12/1/05 - A couple of nights ago it was raining outside. I hadn't paid much attention to it and the boys were
sleeping on the floor next to me while I worked at the computer. All of a sudden, Starsky jumped up-ears erect,
hackles up and went into the dining room. Hutch followed right behind him. They were both literally shaking and
staring at something-I couldn't figure out what at first. Then it hit me-they were staring at the air
conditioner-because the rain was hitting it and making a pinging sound. Ping, ping, ping, ping! and with every ping,
they shook harder, standing rib-cage to rib-cage. I realized it was the RAIN!! These are two evacuated hurricane
Katrina boys and it was raining!!!! They must have been so frightened. I put on some music, played it loud enough
to muffle the sound of the rain and distracted them by playing with a ball and sitting on the floor with them. Finally
the rain stopped and the boys calmed down and all was well again. But it made me realize just how traumatized
these two sweet, wonderful creatures had been by that hurricane-their lives were completely turned upside down
and the fear for their lives must have been enormous. The fact that these two boys came through such a nightmare
without their temperaments being forever damaged is a credit to their spirit and their courage-and their strength of
character. I am truly in awe of these two-and the family who is lucky enough to adopt them will be too. They are truly
amazing creatures and I am honored to have been graced with their presence in my home and in my heart.
11/29/05 - Starsky and his pal Hutch came to stay with me and my crew two days ago and have been absolute
angels since the moment they arrived. They are sweet wonderful dogs who want nothing more than to spend time
with their humans and an occasional snuggle and a few boxer kisses! Both of these boys are crate-trained and I
believe they are house-trained but just having a little problem remembering-it's been a long time for them, first the
hurricane and then a shelter-so, living in a house and remembering to let someone know that they need to go out
is something they haven't had to do for quite awhile. Neither of the boys have barked, even once, since they
arrived. They are very tired and have spent a lot of time sleeping, but when they wake up, they are ready to go! They
eat well, they play like very happy dogs and then they find a place to go and snuggle, wrapped around each other.
The boys are very securely bonded to each other almost mirroring each other movements. They look for each other
every moment and do not want to be more than a few feet apart at any time. I have their crates right next to each
other and when they are sleeping, they are usually laying back to back so that they are touching, even through the
crate-they need to remain together as they have obviously come to depend upon each other for emotional support.
These boys would make a wonderful addition to a family lucky enough to adopt them. They are so gentle and easy
to live with, asking for only human contact, a warm bed and a good meal. There is absolutely nothing negative to
say about them!! They are just the best ever! I want very much for them to find their forever family very soon, but I
will be very sorry to see them leave as they have wiggled their little butts into my heart already.
11/25/05 - Starsky and Hutch came into rescue after surviving Hurricane Katrina. As we know they we're fortunate
to survive! They are a pair that have clearly seen a lot in the past month or so.......... Starsky has some scars on his
face. you can see it's been tough. They are just plain exhausted! They are calm, gentle and very sweet. They
settled right in. had some dinner and now are sleeping. I originally had them in 2 large crates side by side.
Starsky appeared to instantly become anxious about not sleeping next to his buddie. so now they are both in a
Mastiff sized crate wrapped up together sleeping. They are very dependent on each other and will need to be
adopted together..... Please consider these to Handsome Gents.... remember two is always more fun then one ))
